Man I don't know how anyone could give a single game the game of the year award this year. SO many great AAA titles are coming out within DAYS! of each other. No matter which title gets picked, it's all subjective to the people who picked it and the people who play it. No matter which game gets the GOTY award, there will be another game with equal amounts of people suggesting that their game should have received GOTY, and rightly so.

We should form a new award given out by the consumers of the world, but the award would be something along the lines of "You had one of the hottest/best titles of the year, in fact there were so many hot titles that we gave everyone a single award demonstrating the amazing accomplishment the video game industry has made this year." Yep, that's what we'll call it.

Halo2 will never get GOTY in my eyes and i'd never agree if it did because quite frankly i'd rather play Breed than Halo or Halo2.

Why do you all think Halo is so fantastic? Im a real gamer, i play games for what they are and i don't expect every game to be half-life with a different name like some people. I think FC is the best FPS ive ever played, i think Doom3 rocks but yet when i played Halo on Xbox's release (in its prime) i thought "wow this ****ing sucks in every aspect except its got nice graphics". Maybe its because i no longer have an Xbox (infact, i sold mine 2 weeks after i bought it on its release, and lost £100) so i don't have this need to back its only game up or. I don't know....I just seriously hate halo and everything about it....ugghh!

Apparently we like it for the same reasons you hate it. One man's trash is another man's treasure. To each his own. And all the other cliche phrases I can think of. Bottom line is, apparently they did something right considering how many copies Halo sold and how many pre-orders there are for Halo 2. I don't know what you're getting at with the "I'm a real gamer..." statement, but I consider myself a real gamer too. I play Halo because it's a great game, as do the millions of other people. I'm just as confused as to why you felt it sucked in every aspect except graphics. Even the game's short-comings weren't that terrible.

It's a shame. I feel Halo is as big a divider in the gaming community as Doom 3 is.

You can hate Halo all you want, but know that you are one of few.

Uhh....I find many of the aspects that I enjoyed in Halo to be present in most other games I love: Half-Life, Metroid Prime, RTCW.....etc. Nothing wrong with having a range in the games you play and enjoy.

very good commercial, shows how developed halo2 is now, instead of the almost mindless (good stroyline still) shooter of halo1

No.. I'm insinuating that he hasn't made a single post that hasn't either been related to Halo 2 or had the words Halo 2 in it.

I don't see why somebody feels the need to go to a HL2 fansite to proclaim the glory of the Halo series.

Well, the graphics themselves weren't all THAT impressive, I think its more the content/gameplay than simple graphical prowess that look awesome to me. And the fact that those scenes take place inside the game (using its engine I presume) doesn't mean it'l look that good all the time. That is, when you're running a pre-scripted sequnece you can afford to up the detail on the models and textures 'cause you know the player will only see what you want them to see. That said, it looks cool and I'm finnaly a bit excited for it.

No it wasn't, it may have been rendered using the Halo 2 engine but there were still a lot of cutscene's i.e. none playable segments.

Also GOTY is a pointless accolade on a cross-format basis. For instance a PC magazine won't name "Halo 2" GOTY and an X-Box magazine won't name "Half-Life 2" game of the year, 99% of the time it goes on an individual platform basis,

lord, take a hike buddy. I think what he meant, was what mortiz said. And thats exactly what it is, all of the cutscenes are rendered with the Halo 2 engine, but because of the limitations of the Xbox the framerate drops a fair amount(at least according to, pretty much everyone thats played the pirated leak that i've spoken too)

and please stop trying to rile up some of the fanboys here. You just keep posting stuff about Halo 2 being awesome and better then Half-Life 2 and blah blah blah, WE GET IT you like Halo 2, we get it, you can stop now. Its really damn annoying

Sorry i must of mis-read the part where it said "Only post if your gunna ego boost Halo and praise it....". If you don't like negative comments on a game you like then you should grow up and stop posting on forums where other humans with different opinions post.

And i don't think Halo would be popular if it was'nt one of the 20 games released with Xbox(i mean, if you wanted a FPS for your Xbox when it got released you was hardly spoilt for choice. Halo or nothing) or Halo2 would have so many pre-orders if Xbox had another well known game.

Even though i like Halo, i gotta agree, it wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if it came out later on the Xbox

I mean its a video of a cut-scene. Its a shame video games these days have to jump to cut-scenes to show off the game.
