Who's excited about this game? I can say that I am. Freaking 700+ cars is amazing, plus they added drag racing, which was GT3's only fault IMO. Now I can buy good ol' american muscle cars and smoke some tires.

I was a bit disappointed about the online play being taken out =(

What say you all? :afro:

the only GT game I played as the 2 and I didnt complete,but now whit this game whit all that cars is just irresistible

I'm looking foward to driving the ford model T and all of the muscle cars, especially the 71 charger super bee with a .......................................................................................................................426 cubic inch hemi v8!
 
I never liked GT at all, sure it has all the cars, but it's just not fun.
 
Those games get boring after a day for me, cars aren't my forte and as far as a racing game it's lacking imho.. .no real time damage, uninspired tracks :(
 
yah im stoked about it.....and have no fear cuzz theres still a way to play this game online... its called xlink.Its a program that u run on your computer and basically what it does is that it tricks your ps2 into thinking your playing a LAN game when really ur playing online against anyone from anywhere in the world whos using the same program. the tracks are real.

The test driver for nissan (a huge GT fan) laps almost the exact time on the game as he does on the real life track. within 1% of his actual real life time in a stock Nissan Skyline.

No real damage becuase the car manufacturers won't allow it.
This will never change unless you want fake cars.

GT is the best game ever made.

My brother can't drive becuase he is 13, and therefore can't keep the car on the road at any speed, more or less drive >200MPH.
You, however, have no excuse :p
 
I am exited, but i feel kinda the same way as babyheadcrad. GT is just lacking funness.

What I think would make it better:
-Better freaking tire skidding sounds!
-Gritty/More realistic engine etc noise!
-Better particle effects n stuff (i.e. more smoke and fya!)
-NO MORE GOD DAMN ELEVATOR MUSIC! :x
-I guess a damage system is outa da question ;(

There is damage, and it can be turned off in the options. Things like alignment become messed up. At least this was of previous versions. And there is real-time tire damage in options too im sure.

GT is the best game ever made.

I can understand it's not for everyone, im just a little defensive. lol

The game isn't out yet, so how can you think what would make it better?
I don't think I would be listening to music while driving a race car. I usually have it turned it off.
The sound effects on the 3 different comercials I've seen were on par with the best ever made.

I think it's the most exciting game series ever. Need for speed series feels like a cartoon compared to how realistic this game is.

I guess its just too real, and if you don't like driving cars really fast, then you won't like this game.

It would be nice if It was coming out for the PS3 but the graphics are still great.

Colin McRea Rally 2005 for Xbox has the greatest sound for a car game that I've ever heard, NFSU2 sounded better than this. hmph

It's going to be alot more fun to get to play it. I usually pick the view where you can see your car.

The way the crowd moves is pretty good, it loops their animation as the cars are coming, and then they change animation it looks like...

Actually after watching the movies, I am starting to agree with you on most all of your points. Except that I don't think it will be lacking funness.
The videos show just a time trial though, a real race should be more interesting.
Well its coming out couple days I'll let everyone know if its all the hype.

Burnout is the only racing game I can really get into...GT doesn't even let you damage the cars. Meh.

I agree with that.

GT3 probably has the most unrealistic tire sound in the driving games history.

But gladly, Polyphony changed the tire sound for GT4.
 
I'll have to get it sometime...lord knows I've had more fun with GT3 than probably any game on my PS2, but I'm set for right now since Burnout is fulfilling my racing/carnage desires.
I completely understand why GT also wouldn't be fun for some people. It takes a giant attention span, a massive amount of work, and a willingness to go back out on that same race a dozen times in a row trying to find the perfect line through a turn. If you're a car/race-nut its a grand old time, but if not the thrill is probably somewhat lesser.
 
The series has become less fun with each iteration. Recent videos and reviews (especially the Edge one - who say the handling has gotten worse) have put me off GT4.
 
I just hope they add the nice sound of an american big block v8. For a pure adrenaline rush, Burnout 3 is the game, for realistic cars, awsome tuning, and realistic races, the gran turismo series is for you.

The sound in every gran turismo has been satisfactory. I don't think they would disappoint their fans by using crappy sounds for the cars. I hope their taste in music is better than the last couple games though.

I don't know what was going on, there were 2 posts where I tried to edit it, and ended up posting the same thing twice. Duplicates.
 
One thing I really disliked about GT3 was when I was going 200+ MPH it felt like I was going 60. The sense of speed was just horrible.

If they could make it feel like I was actually going that fast then that would be a big improvement for me.

The music also sucked pretty bad in GT3 and there was no option to turn it down, you either had it on or off.

I am not to sure wether I really want to go and buy the game, although they finally included some decent muscle cars and that makes it tempting but I still don't know it it is worth it.

Did you race in first or third person mode? I know in first person it gave me a better sense of speed than most other racing games, while still being realistic.
As for the music, the soundtrack was selective, so anything you didn't like could always just be turned off.

i didnt really pay attention to music in gt3 so it really did not bother me too much, and thought the vol of the music was too low so i hope they fix the vol in gt 4

just like in real life, the sense of speed can be killed by a large track.
If you take a sportscar through a small track or backroad, the car feels fast as hell,
but when you take a fast car on a huge track, it's not going to feel as fast, example: some of the indy 500 tracks that GT4 has in them, they are designed for 200 MPH cars

at anything under 700HP, I hate large tracks.
 
I always race in first person mod, it's just much easier for me. I loved my Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, it has somwhere along the lines of 1,700 hp. I adjusted the wings so the back wheels would lift off the ground at around 240 mph, which made the wheels spin so fast the digital speedo read 620 mph! talk about a record

After seeing that video.....WOW
 
I adjusted the Escudo's gearing so on the huge oval I could reach upwards of 270. It doesn't even have the ability to turn at that speed.:D

Happy birthday! Usually the east coast gets games a day late....of course I HAVE to be on the east coast.
