nw909.... it looks real enough to me... the track corner looks game engine rendered whilst the rest is just a photo realistic skybox. nothing out of the ordinary.

It's only coming out for PS2? What a shame.

And they rock...I played the hell out of GT3...and this one is gonna leave that in the dust. Way up on my list.

Yea, the Gran Turismo series rocks and i'm definately getting the next game.
Any word on how many cars there'll be?

That looks awesome!

Thank god my brother has a PS2 at his house

We're looking at about 500 cars (at last estimate). That's from modern super cars to old-school muscle cars.

The GT games are far and away the best racing games ever. The graphics are unbelievable, the gameplay is great, and the replay value is infinite. Great games.

pushing the ps2 to its limits.........

these games(GT series) are the main reason i bought a ps2 over an xbox.....

now im really glad i bought a ps2....i didnt even know there was going to be a gt4 untill recently

edit: I still havent played a PC racing game thats as good as gt3........

Still a long ass time though.
Sure about that? I got 2/2/2004 at gamestop.com...who knows these ****tards are never right anyway :flame:

the zdnet picture is simply a high res shot. The mountain is a backgrop, the only thing thats real is the car and slight track.

There was a huge thread @ teamxbox on this, lets face it; the ps2 is outdated and cant pull anything spectacular off anymore.

Tell that to the people making Killzone. :D
I think they'd want to know that before they move foward.

The game looks great from the screenshots; however, have you actually played it? No, noone has. I don't beleive that a PS2 can pull off what those screen shots show without some minor cut backs in other things. I would wait until the game is released before I label it as a great looking game. The GT4 screenshots look great, I wish Xbox would finally release some better games.

Actually, I voiced some of those concerns myself in the Killzone thread.
My point is simply to never underestimate an entire platform like that. I've still yet to see rain in any other game as convincing as it is in MGS2.

I am not underestimating it, I am simply very skeptical. You have to remember that PS2 is 3 years old now, 3 year old technology could not produce a game like the screeshots show. But like I said, I will not say anything negative about it until I actually play it.

Believe what you want, we all know the PS2 cant pull anything decent off anymore. Despite what fanboys claim.

Official PlayStation 2 Magazine has played it (KillZone).

The PS2 has the best looking games on all 3 consoles by far man. No, it isn't as powerful, but its immense popularity causes many more developers to make games for it and spend much more time on it to draw out all the graphical power. I've beaten Silent Hill 3 and I think it looks even better than the PC demo that was just released. I'm sorry sire, but you're wrong. Silent Hill 3 has better graphics than anything on the three consoles right now and is neck and neck with the best PC games (although this will change soon).

Yeah, it does seem that the PS2 has the best looking games of the 3 consoles if the developers do it right. It shows that styles can overcome raw power and atill impress (like ZOE2 and Silent Hill 3).

And that desert GT4 shot is very real, its just a 3d track with a photo as a background. I think the other tracks are much more impressive...like the bamboo forest.

Anyway, GT4 is going to kick ass, I can't wait to play it.

I wouldn't say its the most powerful, or even has the best graphics...rather I'd say that the software is the most refined.
And I'm psyched for the new handling they say is in the game, its supposed to feel great.

over 500

GT3 rocked. Especially if you have the special steering wheel for the PS2. I played it so much I managed to upgrade one of my cars until it had 1050 horsepower. It was crazy.

Got about that horsepower with my Skyline in the original GT ;)

GT Concept gave me the 10 million credits present for GT3.
1000 hp Skylines are pretty funny indeed.

i got that without bonus credits

i also got a 2000 hp suzuki pikes peak ed

uncontrolable :cheese:

my silver skyline never loses though

I'm seriously considering shelling out over $400 for a used ps2, a ps2 wheel/pedal combo and a copy of GT4. I'm a huge fan of race sims, but since I'm not a console guy I've been missing out on the GT series for years. GT4 seems like it could finally make me cave in and get a console for the first time in my life. I really want a good realistic game where I can mod an evo or skyline, and this game looks like a real winner, shame theres no Porsches or Ferraris, but I can overlook that considering the amount of detail they're putting into it. In Motor Trend, they said the devs used over 200 pics per car so they could properly model each one. The detail in the real world tracks will also be insane. At Motegi, they were even measuring the doors and windows so they would be modeled properly.

O ya, bastard_loud, you think 1000hp skylines are insane, in Japan there are some Skylines with over 2000hp!

I don't have a ps2 but i'm thinking about buying one for all these new games like killzone at gt4.

I still want to get Gamecube, for Zelda and Mario games, to remind me of my childhood, wasted hours spend in front of the TV, playing Donkey Kong Country and new Mario Bro. World.

I once got a 437Kmph top speed with a Mitsubishi GTO on the original GT test ring!

:E

i had one of those in gt1 aswell, maxed out everything

bring back the mighty race mod bodykits i say!

they werent in gt3, one of my fav options,
also used cars, i want older beasts to do up, not brant new ones to start.

I've got a cube and it's fun as ****, got 4 wavebird controllers ready for Double Dash, monkey ball rocks too, Wind Waker and Metroid Prime are also worth buying the cube for alone.
