Key Differences for the PC version vs 360 version

"High caliber ballistics"

In GRAW PC we developed a complete ballistics system. The objective is to make all weapons as realistic as possible, including load weight, firing dispersion, recoil impacts etc...

One of the features linked to this system is the high caliber ballistics that will allow you to fire through thin or fragile surfaces, provided that you are equipped with the proper rifle (like the M99 Sniper rifle for instance).

Combined with the use of in-game intels, this allows you to get rid of enemies who believe they are safely under cover. You’ll have to be very quick though as the intels won’t remain on screen for long."

"...During the presentation it was once again re-iterated that the PC version of the game would be more focused on tactics as it better suited the platform, but with their strategy of only presenting a majority of Xbox360 gameplay and CGI, Ubisoft made it clear which version they considered as the definitive Advanced Warfighter. Ubisoft has revealed some aspects on the differences between the PC and Xbox 360 version of the game, the main difference being that the PC version will only take place within a first-person perspective after feedback from the PC community voiced a preference to an FPS view above the console’s Over-The-Shoulder perspective. Taking in the fact that a player’s aiming accuracy is higher via a mouse, Ubi has revealed that the PC environments will also include more areas to take cover from bullets and munitions together with far more challenging enemies. The home computer version is also expected to have other advancements and tweaks to better suit the increased tactical gameplay experience."

Support for Ageia Phys X

"Would it be safe to say that since GRAW PC will support Ageia Phys X Chip that it will be using the NovodeX physics engine? (question from “ZA_Corax”)

Yes indeed GRAW PC will support the NovodeX physics engine. We will use it to improve the rendering of most explosions / physics in the game, and there will be a specific work on the key moments of the game (buildings collapsing, oil truck exploding etc…).

We are also using the Havok engine as a standard, so gamers not equipped with AGEIA chips can expect great physics too!"

AHHAHAHAHAHA!

ERhrrm...

I wanna see some high res screenies, so I can see ALL the downgrades they took to the engine. These low res screenshots just mask allot of it.

But yeah, it looks amazing, but nowhere NEAR the first images they piped as "screenshots".

I'm actually starting to look forward to this...

I'm a bit dissapointed with the no-3rd-person-view-for-pc-thing, they could atleast have made it togglable(in game). I actually think the 3rd person videos I've seen looked rather cool, mainly because of the flow and the animations.

So they're already dumbing down games for "next-gen" consoles?

I dunno depends on how you view it...

personally I think it's perhaps better to target the game, doing small changes here and there, on the platform you're going to release to rather than having a game that works the same on all platforms, but ends up worse due to the nature of the platform.(read more tactical focused on PC)

though I must say I'm a bit curious as to why the ballistics isn't present in the console versions...(sure they, well atleast the 360, can handle it)

btw is it me or does it seem like the game has picked up the pace compared to the first one? from gameplay vids it seems much more action packed than the first one...

Sooooo...are PPUs even available yet? Will they even be available when this releases? Seems crazy, but forward-thinking I guess...:|

FPS option = win... damnit why isn't it an option in the 360 version... my comp won't handle this I know it.

Well, by making the 360 version less tactical and more arcadey, I'm sure the ballistics were dropped as a gameplay decision, not a design limitation. I'm tempted to get both the 360 and PC version.

it is an option in the console version...however fps is apparently forced in the PC version:/

Hmm, I can imagine myself enjoying the PC version more - but there's no chance in hell I'll be able to run it well.

Not that impressive. Alot of the textures are pretty ugly. But the shading on the soldier in the second pic looks damn nice.

There isn't a weapon model in first person on the 360 version is there?

360 still looks better to me.

Id say that will last till about, oo um, Autumn at the latest, the PC always pwns back, hard :borg:

Who really cares what pwns what?:\
I buy game machines to play games on'em, not to think about when they'll be outdated and by whom.
I'll be getting both the 360 and PC vers probably(I own GR1+all expansions on the PC and GR2+exp on the XB1).

Oh man this is probably going to maek me get both versions.

sorry I should have been specific. there is no first person view weapons... weapons are not drawn in fps mode... therefore I don't consider it even worth switching to :(

also... does anyone know if you can switch which side of the screen your third person Recon guy is on? (in all screens/videos I have seen he is on the left..) it just looks wrong to me, Im hoping we can set him on the right side (where my gun would normally be)

Well, I don't really like having the weapons shown in FPS, but that's because I'm a old-school fan of GR1, it just won't feel the same to see the weapon, I hope they add an option to turn it off..

Yeah, some developer talked about it. You can do it.

are you refering to the "switch player model to the right side of the screen" or "viewable fps weapons" part of my quote?

Im assuming the player model issue, which in that case.. awesome, have an idea where you read it?

thanks btw Axyon :)

the fact that i couldn't see my own weapon was the reason i never played the ghost recon games when they first came out.

This might help me change my mind

Sorry yeah, it was switching the player model. I think I heard it in one of IGN's newer videos, most probably the one with the developer's running commentary.

I'm not too bothered about the lack of 1st person weapons (even though nothing's 100% confirmed), it's a tribute to GR1, if anything.
