GRAW PC Screens

so it's mostly just graphical differences ..with the added over the shoulder POV

It's been a while since i've played it on the Xbox - I remember it being in first person, and feeling rather clunky/clumsy.

GRAW is best in 3rd person, and is wonderful to control. The view is similar to RE4, over the shoulder, but now you can switch which shoulder depending on which way you're going, or on which area you need the best view of. This works really well, far better than it sounds on paper, and is better than any first person tactical shooter i've played. The combat feels more immediate, and being able to see you guy peaking around corners, or being able to slide along the floor baseball stylee as bullets whizz over your head, make it a great visual experience (it's like controlling your own action man :)))

So - better controls/view, more tense, exciting, visceral combat, and visually far more interesting. It doesn't feel like any GR game i've played before - which is a good thing.

All these opinions are based on multiplayer.

so my initial statement still stands ...strip away the graphical eye candy, take away over the shoulder pov and you have the xbox version ..I'm one to admit that pretty graphics usually helps me overlook glaring gameplay problems but the xbox version is just too arcadey imho ..wasnt bad in co-op but single player is just the same old rehash of dozens of games released in the last few years

No, the 360 version is far more tactical than the Xbox variety. The Xbox version negates tactical thinking because of the removal of prone, climbing and two of your teammates. Read the Gamespot review - they say it doesn't even feel like a Ghost Recon game. The games are radically different in both graphics and gameplay.

Well, how easily do you die in GR3 on the XB1? When I played GR3 on the 360 it usually only took a few shots to kill me.. It also felt not all that arcadey at all, I quite a few times had to be careful and plan which enemies I'd take on first, and sneak etc.. Also, I've heard that the AI is better on the 360 vers than on the XB1 vers..
Seriously, you should try to find a way to experience the 360 vers before judging it.:)
If you want a realistic war game, go play OFP.:D It's rather cheap these days ^^

ok, since I dont have a 360 I cant compare the two. I'll reserve my judgment of the pc version till I've played a demo

it takes 2 shots to die in xbox version ..one if headshot

it's not that I want a realistic military game ...it's that I DONT want an arcady military game

You're comparing a first person shooter to a 3rd person one. The view alone changes gameplay considerably - e.g. you can sit behind a rock, completely out of sight, while still being able to see some of what's going on the the sides, or above. Even when you're stuck behind cover, you have a far more interesting view of what's going on. It doesn't feel, or play, like older titles in the series.

//edit - it certainly doesn't feel arcady, one or two hits resulting in death, yet feels more streamlined and fluid. It is still very tactical, but the view does change a few things (imo for the better). Your fov being considerably larger than in first person helps eliminate somewhat the main problem that plagues games of this type - the camper. You can scan large areas quite quickly, often seeing people running for cover or trying to flank you. Everyone has more idea of what's going on, and combat isn't the Benny Hill show first person tactical shooters often end up being

ghost recon 2 had over the shoulder cam ..didnt make all that much difference to gameplay, but I'll take your word for it

I think it looks great. Adds depth and life to the scene. It doesn't look finished in some respects, but screenshots don't usually do justice to real motion.

I only tried the first on the XBox, didn't like it. Think of GRAW in 3rd person being the other end of the spectrum to Oblvion's awfully implemented attempt. Of course, this is all based on the 360 version and playing on a pad, it could be quite different on the pc.

heh the first ghost recon was the best of the series

It drove me nuts online. Every server seemed full camping sods (usually with word sniper appearing somewhere in their name - a pet hate) waiting for anyone to move. It was more a test of who got bored first, which was always me (and never 'SilentSniper'/'NinjaSniper'/'OneShotOneKill' - tossers all of them :))

ghost recon multiplayer mp was broken for me ...never did play online

Ah i didn't realise the PC Version was in first person :O i wasn't planning on getting it as i thought it was gonna be pretty much the same as the 360 version ... changed my mind now :D can't wait :p

i'm seriously tempted to get it - it all depends on how much replay value the game has
*awaits PC reviews with interest

It could be their "colors of war" post-processing. I think how it works is, when the fighting starts, the warm colors become oversaturated, the HDR contrast increases, and the bloom... well, blooms. It's supposed to subconsciously make the battle seem more intense.
and makes my eyes bleed

played the xbox version again last night ...and then read through some pc impressions articles ...looks to be nothing like the xbox version except in name ..at least I hope so because after replaying different sections of the xbox version I wouldnt buy it if you paid me to (ok maybe I would)

Yeah i agree it does, the mp on it if playing split-screen is your classic view of only being able to see the crosshair, however it's still playable so meh :p

The 360 version has no weapon models in first person.

ah wtf.... i'll just buy the pc version even if the graphics arent as good.

The pc version looks good to me. Don't let the 3rd person view put you off the 360 version, though, it works alot better than the previous Ghost Recon games did in first person. It also sounds to be a pretty different game to the pc version - I plan on getting both.

I'm still to complete it on my 360, however i've enjoyed it a lot so far :D
