GT5 delayed once again (go f*ckin figure)

Duke Nukem Forever called. Says he wants his shtick back.

Kazunori-san should take a chill pill and release this shit already.

Damn right! I don't see why they would change the date due to Black-Ops, in my mind GT5 is a system purchase, i.e a game people will buy a PS3 just to get their hands on. I know I am tempted.

To be honest, I'm not as excited about GT5 as I once was after finding out that less than half of all the cars in the game are actually new high-detail models, the rest are just "remastered" cars from GT4 with higher-res textures etc.

The only thing that makes me wanna buy GT5(Given that I already own other unfinished racing games like Forza 3) is the B-SPEC mode which has according to the developers been fleshed out so much that it can be considered its own game, allowing you to manage a stable of racedrivers.

I just... this game is just..

They're all the same as the first one - except worse, because I already did that nearly 15 years ago and I was tired of it by the 2nd game. Like a sucker, I kept buying them. I bought all of them GT 1 through 4. They got worse every time, to the point where I traded in [my pre-ordered] GT4 after playing a few hours.

That said, the original game was fantastic.

GT5 should be a great game to have if you've never played it before and really like racing games, don't mind retarded AI and completely unmatched vehicles.

As a big racing game fan, you know I am curious once again. What's different? Is it any better? Luckily, I don't have any stupid next-gen consoles, so I don't have to worry about it.

SEGA Dreamcast 2, ****ing save me. They've lost their path.

^The AI in GT5 is a lot better than 4's if GT5Prologue is any indicator.

people complained a lot about the damage system makign jokes of "so many years and thats it?" well time to wait again

and I think they showed only screens and no videos of how the car damages, cuz looking at the screens it seem it was more than in others games

*Falls to knees*
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I even got me a racing seat setup to be delivered any day. Sunuva.

Everything is so cookie-cutter. It's just a list of features. Like a checklist that all games must have now. Part of this blame can go on reviewers that dock points because a checklist feature is omitted that a predecessor game had.

For example: the Replay feature, for after every race, it will prompt you to watch the replay.

Did anyone ever stop to think, hey, we could get rid of the replays, and use this 130 MB of replay data from this 60 lap endurance race... we could use this RAM to provide better AI, higher resolution textures, better sound effects, a more detailed dashboard with working oil and water pressure, better crash damage... But no, the checklist isn't complete without the obligatory REPLAY.

How annoying it is, that games these days always ask if you want to watch the replay? You are automatically thrown into replay mode when you complete the race. How tiresome it is to hear the race starting lights tick down and all the cars revving zealously. Can't the game just learn, "hey, he said no last time, how about we put the cursor on 'NO' automatically from now on."

They just don't have preferences to be friendly, when this is mother****ing 2010... almost 2011. Hell, they've got semi-effective MIND READING technology by now, can they not do a simple bit change from a 1 to a 0, and save that to your preferences?

With great gains comes great sacrifice.

So, lose the tiresome replay. Can't games offer anything original? How about race highlights instead? Save only the data when you overtake a position, or when you crash, or lose a position. Use the spare RAM (the PS3 only has 512MB of shared RAM) for improving the game.

Bring something new to the table, and I'll come check it out. Otherwise, cancel it.

To be perfectly fair, the damage on cars isn't really that much up to the game developers, just look at Forza 3.

You see, car manufacturers are generally very sensitive about having their "regular cars"(i.e. not rally vehicles etc) depicted as being badly damaged in crashes etc, why I'm not sure, could be they fear the people playing the game will fear that it's an accurate depiction of the cars safety etc.

But it's a well-known fact that many car manufacturers basically tell the devs "If you depict our cars with realistic damage we won't give you the licenses to use them in your game."

Bingo. And Fire is a big NO NO. No car company will give the license if they see their car catch fire. Kind of annoying, I think.

That's a bunch of shit guys. That's only an excuse they use. Just look at Race Driver.

OK. I thought I had a good point, but since I can't seem to find a game with a stock looking vehicle being damaged in any game, I concede the point.
This is often a consequence of lawyers: for ProductPlacement, car companies will often supply the vehicles for a movie, on the terms that the cars not be damaged, either because they'd like them back, or to perpetuate some ridiculous idea that their cars are indestructible. This is made worse in VideoGames, since every product in the game needs to be licensed, the makers of the products in question can set the terms to whatever they want, which can often mean indestructible cars.
I wonder why race cars are exempt.

All these years they have been saying that, I never believed it, but I guess it's true.

no I mean the way the damage system works

it looks too jagged but I dont know if it was shown in motion, cuz it looks like it would be kind of dinamic, meaning no presets but well I dont know

What a retarded news day it is when a delay of an infamously delayed game passes for news. We already know it's going to be delayed for, like, ever...until it comes out. People need to relax. I am sure it will be terrific when it does finally drop. I am so tired of the endless comparisons people make these days. GT to Forza, MoH to MW, FFXIII to a pile of shit. Just get the game and play it but STFU up about it already!!

Um....hi VOS...pleasant day we are having, eh? Come aboard the "WTF R U TALKING ABOUT" train.

I can't wait for the reviewers to get their hands on the game. I'd love to see many more videos.

Haha! Yeah, no. Sorry about that. It's cold and rainy here and I was hungry when I posted which makes for a really volatile mix. I am eager for reviewers to get their hands on it as well, though I can only imagine that with such a long wait, anything short of 9s and 10s will get certain folks VERY upset. Or happy. Or comparing it to other games. Ugh. I won't start up again. :)

Just because I don't want to own a console doesn't mean I want video games to go to shit. After buying 4 of the games, I think I have a right to complain about some changes I wish they'd make.

Shit, son. I wish they would give me a reason to want to buy a game again. I might not even want to play this for free! But I'll play it in the store and judge for myself.

See, I actually for once made a post where I knew what I was talking about!*Proud*

Having only played 3 and 4 and 5 Prologue, I find 5 to feel pretty damn tight. I mean, I wasn't really sold on the game until they started to announce all of the modes they were adding. The reason I loved GRID so much was the 24 hours Le Mans race. Sure, it wasn't that long at all, but I did love racing it. Endurance races were great. Then you get GT5 with ALMS, NASCAR, Rally, and more? Sounds like a racing enthusiasts dream. Especially since I love the way the game feels in realism mode. They released the 370Z Time Attack trial thingy earlier this year. Playing that on real mode was so much better feeling than the standard regular racing mode.

Wait, I think I'm 100% off topic.

GIMME THE ****ING GAME, ASSHOLES.

GT4 already had endurance races that were actually 24 hours in real-time, I seem to recall?

Right, but it's the whole package that i enjoy with GT5, not JUST endurance races. You can't make GT4 feel like the driving style of 5, and that's what I love about 5 over 4 *This is completely personal preference*

Yeah, but, as I pointed out in an earlier post, it is kinda lame that the majority of the vehicles(I think 75/80%?) are just re-textured GT4 models, rather than the so-called premium models(Which they generally show off in the trailers.)

Me too. I don't even like racers & I'm really considering buying it.

Lol I thought this game came out like 2 years ago because of the way people talk about it sometimes.

Sometimes I ponder buying one of them fancy PlaySeats for gaming, but I don't really have the room for it, unless I'd remove my bed and replace my couch with one of those couches you can make into beds.:(

Would sure make it more fun to play racers, since I could actually comfortably use a wheel again, not to mention I could probably modify it a bit so I could use it for Steel Battalion.

Just imagine when it comes out.

Man, I seriously cannot waiitititititit to get this shit in my hands. I've had this G27 for like almost a year now. GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME

I am really excited to try out the B-SPEC mode, if it didn't have that I'd not have bought it since I have Forza 2 and 3 anyway.

But a mode that lets me completely manage a racing stable, including mental details for the drivers mid-race, really appeals to me.

Had a lot of fun when I was younger with an old F1 management game called"Grand Prix Manager 2!

There is a firm release date again: Wednesday November 24th. Over to you, Kazunori-san.

Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.
