"GTA IV is even better than the hype suggests!"

It'll be good for Xbox 360 and PC.

PC comes way later, and is good for mods and stuff.

never modded any of the gta games ...wanted to finish them first ..which I neer did anyways ..some of the driving/shooting missions in the previous games were kind of wonky on the pc so this time around I'm probably going for the console version

I think for the first ever I'll get the xbox360 version ..as good as the pc versions are I think overall it's probably more suited to a console

Our work is done here.

I have san andreas for the PC, and they botched the control configuration so that control pads are pretty much unusable.

San Andreas came out for PS2 though.

This time though, the game comes out for Xbox 360, so I have faith that they can get the Xbox360 controller (for Windows) right for the PC version.

I will definitely be hoping and waiting for the PC version.

/runs from pc elitists brandishing pitchforks

Exactly. I think people with PC versions are going to get frustrated by some of the driving sequences (I bet analog control will be key with the new realistic car handling). They will also probably wear out whatever key they have assigned to the "A" button. You have to rapidly press that one to sprint.

Console, imo, has always handled the GTAs better than PC controls. It's still fine and dandy to control the game with a mouse and keyboard, but certain games feel more... "right" with a pad, like fighting and racing games.

People who play on PC often(such as myself), use controllers when they play on the PC. I will be using my xbox 360 controller, and if I can't find drivers that work properly for the wireless version by the time it's released, I'll get a wired version which has full functionality as it does on the xbox 360, so I will be able to drive exactly as I do on the console version.

That's what I've done with the other ones... I had my ps2 controller plugged into the PC and on my lap. Every time I was in a vehicle I would use the controller, and on foot I'd use mouse and keyboard.

Worked very well.

I tried doing that with GTA:SA recently and I couldn't get the game to recognize the right stick or the triggers.

Who cares about being the first to finish it?? I want to be the one with the highest wanted level for the longest!!! F_ck the plot!!

Now you can finally feel what it's like to be wanted.

Hey look we got the same join date, and roughly the same post count.

I got one of these from a local Wal Mart store for $9.99 USD

what it looks like:

It uses a High Speed USB port, and it has two low speed USB ports (not sure why), a PS2, Game Cube, and Xbox port on it as well.

I've tested the PS2 controller and the Xbox Controller, and both work perfectly. Haven't tried the Game Cube controller because I don't have a Game Cube controller to try it with.

GTA4 special edition

gtaSE.jpg

The image below was taken from a press conference, and sent to us by a subscriber. This is the official kit of what you will receive in the Special Edition bundle for GTAIV. This kit includes,

RockStar Duffle bag
the Art of Grand Theft Auto IV book
GTAIV Limited Edition DVD
GTAIV video game
and of course, the GTAIV AmmoBox to house this collection. If you ask us, this is way cooler than the Halo Helmet, and a bit more useful.

Rockstar is going to be so incredibly huge after this.

But not as huge as most of us will be.

I find myself wishing I had a nice TV and console more and more these days... too much money, though (TV would probably be more than the console, even a smaller one)! :p Plus it seems like the 360 has been out forever now; I'd hate to join the party so late in the game, heh.

I wish I had a large HDTV too.

But I have the xbox 360 vga cable, so I will be playing it on my monitor. :D

EDIT: Do you guys think we're going to have to worry about this?

I swear to god... if EA does somehow make a deal and push this game back to some ****ing holiday season, I will do unspeakable things and prove to the world that violence comes not in the arrival of a new GTA game, but in the absence of its expected arrival.

an EB Games rep told me that the special edition came with 10 hours of extra gameplay
can anyone confirm this?! cause it sounds like BS to me

They give those EB Games kids Microsoft and GTAIV shirts to wear along with a flyer and all the sudden they think they work for the companies and act like they are industry insiders. LOL

That is the impression I get.

You guys should NOT expect a quicker console to PC port of GTA imo, remember that the RAGE engine hasn't seen use on PCs, nor has it been developed for PCs, so it will take a bit more time for Rockstar to port it since it'd be their first PC game using the engine.

Rockstars themselves have stated in interviews that RAGE was ONLY developed for XB360, PS3 and the Wii.

The 360 is essentially a PC running DirectX and Windows, you know.

So you're telling me I'll be able to run GTAIV with a GPU that has only 10mb eDRAM and a total of 512MB RAM shared for all purposes on the system, all this on a PC?

Since my 360 is essentially a PC running DirectX and Windows, I should be able to run GTAIV on PC just as well as on my 360, with the exact same specs, right?:LOL::LOL:

I never said your computer had the exact same specs as a 360, I'm saying the 360 is more similar to a PC than it is to a PS3.

I half and half it between M&K and Controller dependent upon what I'm up to, generally I find I can drive/ride just as well with the WASD most of the time. It's only if I'm up against the clock I'll use the pad more. Any kind of gunplay = M&K though.

Seconded. A 360 is a future locked PC.

The default PC controls for SA were awful, you basically needed three hands. I used a gamepad.

The only reason I won't play GTA on consoles is because I find auto-aim annoying and not as satisfactory as getting a headshot with mouse aiming. Manual aim sounds pretty awkward on the console, too.

driving is annoying with a keyboard though, so is flying. Id much rather play a GTA type game with a controller, while still preferring a mouse for FPS's

I didn't really have any problems with the controls for driving and flying. Nonetheless, flight school in SA had me tearing my hair out. Also the Zero RC missions.

This isn't a fanboy fight! The 360 is a PC since it runs Windows and DirectX. It's future locked because you can't change the ammount of internal RAM!

With all of you guys talking about the PC version, I expect the mods to be SICK. If the PC release coincides with the release of Dragon Age then I expect my updated rig will be spreading this like buttah.

jebus I really didnt mean for my comments to spark a debate ..anyways to each his own

btw I'm curious ..how many of those who say they'd get it for the pc have consoles?

I have a 360 and am planning on getting it for that. I just find it easier to play those types of games using a controller, plus most of my friends who are getting it will be getting the 360 version.

Plus, they tend to give more DLC to whichever system is being used the most. Learned that the hard way from guitar hero 3 for the PC.

I just finished reading about cops vs crooks in this months edge and it sounds truly awesome. It's 4 v 4 - at least in the games they played - and the way things can pan out seem as varied as you'd expect from GTA - with crooks leaping off bridges to escape capture, collisions sending policemen flying through windscreens, and getting sniped inches away from the escape vehicle. This is going to keep me up for weeks on end :)

I have a Wii, and I'll be waiting for GTA on the PC, unless I lose interest and just borrow it from a torrent site.
