The CARS! What the hell people? Yeah everything looks great but what have they done about the cars? I was never too happy about the selection in the previous games, as it consisted of 4-5 awesome sports cars and then 234-823049782340923749082374 shitty cars. Whats the deal with the vehicles this time around? And if there's info on it that I didn't know about, I will let you each shoot me in the face twice.

some of the 'shitty' cars were real beaters.

Beater = car that looks normal or even old and beat up, but is a bad ass muscle car TBH.

I liked them better than the lame exotics. Especially when playing Danzig on the radio station.

"Mother. don't let your kids hear my words, what they mean, what I say"

I loved the car that Catalina always had in her driveway in San Andreas. I can't for the life of me remember the name though. It was badass.

I also like how GTA has only a few awesome racing/sports cars and lots of everything else. It makes the good ones seem even better by comparison, and keeps realism in check. Plus it's hilarious making a final dash to a mission's final checkpoint in a beat-up Perennial station wagon that's missing a windshield and side door.

I've always liked the middle range sort of muscle type cars. I especially liked the type of cars that the mafia drove in part 3... and its versions in the other games.

The one sports car I really like, and don't care so much for the others, is the banshee. Love that thing.

Yeah, that was my favorite from that game. I'm pretty sure was supposed to be a Dodge Viper, which you probably know is a 10 cylinder 2 seat 550+ HP little monster.

It's based on real-life car composition of New York. Maybe in your town everyone drives Ferraris and anyone driving anything less is dragged out in the streets and ran over, but in normal cities people drive normal cars.

You're thinking of "Sleepers".

Beaters are just plain piece of shit cars.

And yeah, it's only realistic to have most of the cars to be old econoboxes and family cars, since that's what most people drive in real life. This isn't a racing game.

In any case, most GTA games have a "rich" area where sports cars become a lot more common. I just hope they include a sports sedan like the Sentinel XS from Vice City, which was based on a Mercedes 190E Evolution. I've always liked sports sedans.

Favorite vehicle:

:naughty:

Bikes are faster than cars, cops don't follow you for driving where you want, and they're smaller than cars. I prefer them.

I really dig the monster truck and dump trucks. Those things are beasts.

Oh and Absinthe... I will be robbing your favorite vehicle, while you're in it.

I prefer the idea of the decent cars being the exception rather than the rule tbh. It will make them seem that much greater a prize when you nab them. Having finished GTA3 recently and switched to Vice City one of the biggest things that stands out is the over abundance of Sports cars in VC.

I think im the only person on this planet not excited about this game...Im getting it, and it will be the 1st GTA since the playstation versions that i owned but ya.

Riding the high powered bikes was where the fun from san andreas and vice city came from for me... Cant wait for the bikes in GTA4 !!

Shitzu! :E

I just hope they've taken out - or improved - the spawn settings of cars so that when I'm driving around in a garbage truck I'm not suddenly passing by hundreds of other garbage trucks. I only really found it noticable with unique vehicles though, but either way, Rockstar have said they they have spent hours documenting the certain areas of New York, so if you're in a run down neighbourhood you ain't going to be finding sports cars as much as you might up in some fancy mansion row.

Don't care much for the cars anyway, they're all the same to me.

Also, Jack Thompson will have a field day over these:

The in-game prostitutes now offer three "levels of service": masturbation, fellatio or intercourse

Tom Goldberg is a lawyer working for Goldberg, Ligner & Shyster, a law firm based in Liberty City. There are several rumors circulating that the character 'Tom Goldberg' was inspired by the Florida lawyer Jack Thompson, a man who has opposed Rockstar many times. In a demo presented to journalists by Rockstar, Niko receives a phone call from police officer Francis McReary asking him to kill Tom Goldberg. Niko then acquires a cab and heads to an internet caf? named TW@ caf? and submits a fake r?sum? to Goldberg, Ligner & Shyster using the game's internet browser. Niko schedules an interview with Goldberg, before picking up some business clothes. When Niko arrives for his interview, he lets Goldberg ramble on a bit about video game violence before using a 9mm handgun to assassinate Goldberg in his office, and then soon after ends up in a fire fight with law enforcement

Oh wait, he already has.

On 18 September 2007, Jack Thompson filed a document[66] with a federal court in Florida that claims that the assassination target of a mission in GTA IV is a lawyer character based upon himself. When the main protagonist enters his office and pulls a gun on him, the lawyer yells "Guns don't kill people! Video games do!" Thompson has threatened that unless the similarities to himself are removed from the game he will "take necessary and proper means to stop release of the game".

All from Wiki.

Crappy image, but I loved the golf cart in Vice City. :E

I'm sorry but I live 5 minutes away from NYC and there's absolutely no way there's more normal cars than there are expensive cars. For every crappy ford explorer and chevy pick up truck theres a C class mercedes or 5 series BMW. rich people live in NYC too, its not just a mess of middle class people. And where I live is pretty much the same.

... why are you talking like you've played the game and know what it's like? How do you know? It's not even out yet, maybe there will be a 5 series BMW for every Ford Explorer. We'll have to wait and see.

i dont think your going to see a single BMW....assuming there PR department wouldnt allow the public to see their cars being blown up

Of the 'normal' cars in GTA I enjoy driving the Blista Compact most.

i dont think your going to see a single BMW....assuming there PR department wouldnt allow the public to see their cars being blown up

They get blown up in movies, why not in games?

If that "Shitzu" is any indication then most likely all the vehicles will be fictional parodies of real vehicles like in previous GTA games.

im sure there are many reasons....the same reasons that prevented them from putting them in san andreas.

in a movie, they have the opportunity to actually advertise the car

Yeah, if you live in Manhattan especially, then you either:

A. Don't have a car
B. Have a cheap little beater
C. Have a great expensive luxury number

The game should mirror this nicely I think. Bikes will be wicked too--can't wait to see some crazy accidents with people flying everywhere in this wonderful new engine!!

I was about to say the same thing...

I'm almost the same. I am not excited, but I won't buy it, as I've got no system to play it.

I'm excited for it and I don't even have any new consoles except for a Wii.

When it comes out on PC I probably won't even be able to play it.

Those two were the best in GTA 3. In VC, I liked the BF Injection the best.

Bullet was the best from SA.

I had more fun driving hte mopeds in vice city than the muscle cars ..mostly cuz they handled like shopping carts ...on ice

The golf carts and mopeds were loads of fun. I really don't think a drive-by could be any better than on a moped.

It's gonna be a lot of fun doing a blind-fire driveby on a moped with a rocket launcher.

I loved the car that Catalina always had in her driveway in San Andreas. I can't for the life of me remember the name though. It was badass.

It was called the Buffalo.

Of the 'normal' cars in GTA I enjoy driving the Blista Compact most.

I disagree, I don't like the Blista Compact at all.

I hope for GTA IV that the whole vehicle situation improves. I mean, when I get into a kinda rare car, drive around, all of a sudden there are loads of them.

When driving on the freeway at high speeds in San Andreas, some jackass would change lanes every so often, causing me to do a crash or break very hard in order to avoid wrecking a good car.

Surprise! Due to compatibility issues with the PS3 cars have been removed from GTA IV. To compensate, bumper cars have been added to the game!

The best car in the 3D GTAs is the banshee, by the way (but not the shitty Vice City version).

Also, Jack Thompson will have a field day over these:

Jack Thompson threatens if his likeness isn't removed then he will take necessary action to stop the release of the game...

come on Jack!

He is trying his damnedest to destroy this game as it is... what, is he going to try harder to put take-two out of business? He can't try any harder than his hardest.

Rockstar just needs use the disclaimer, "all similarities to persons, living or dead, are coincidental"

Jack hasnt heard of Parody ..which is odd because his career is a parody of what it means to be a lawyer

You cant have good cars without bad cars.

We need an official GTAIV thread. Theres four threads on it in just the first page of this section.
