GTA IV: What noone has mentioned

We need a damn GTA IV Section, buddy!

This game is going to be big!

If that "Shitzu" is any indication then most likely all the vehicles will be fictional parodies of real vehicles like in previous GTA games.
Yea the 'shitzu' in the pic i posted seems to bear a very close resemblance to a Suzuki GSX-R1000 if you compare them side by side. Even with the paintwork and livery bears a strong resemblance...

I heard there won't be any planes to fly, but instead helicopters...

Sucks, because I loved the harrier-jet in San Andreas.

Surprise! Due to compatibility issues with the PS3 cars have been removed from GTA IV. To compensate, bumper cars have been added to the game!

The best car in the 3D GTAs is the banshee, by the way (but not the shitty Vice City version).

What? Make sense, that does not.

Also best car =

I want something like this in the game:

One thing that bothered me in the first game was how easy the cops could get you. If you stabbed a guy in a dark alley without any witnesses the cops would be alerted straight away and know you did the crime. Will that change for this game?

I could have sworn(though I could be wrong), that in the early days it was said that in GTA IV there would have to be witnesses to the crime.

Yep, pretty sure someone has to actually witness the crime and call it in now. That goes for stealing as well though, so you may want to be more careful about jacking cars in plain sight. :)

Basically the impression I got is that it's tougher, but more realistic.

What would kill the immersion for me was speeding right through a red light, passing a cop who was waiting at the light and the cop didn't care.

I wonder if it will be fixed in GTA IV. I have a lot of doubt. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to fix that. I think it would make the game so much better.

I think there were a lot of bad cars in SA with R* having the hope that you would do them up at a garage.

I think having to obey basic traffic laws would add a TON of annoyance to GTA4. Now that it's harder to get away from the police, it would be f*cking annoying to have to shake cops every time you drive if you didn't want to follow traffic across town ever so slowly.

No I don't mean following traffic laws, but if you blow right past a cop and through a red light I think you should get a level 1 wanted level and he should give chase. Do you know how awesome that would be?

Now, driving down the road at 140 MPH and passing a cop on the highway should get him to give chase too.

But if there is no cop to see you, you should be able to break the law as you normally would.

If I run through a red light and there is no cop there I don't think you should get a wanted level.

They won't fix it. It'd be super nice to have it as an option, but it's not something they feel needs to be fixed.

I can see your point but that would be problematic for the player when they're attempting the timed missions in which you have to floor it all the time. Quite a large portion of the missions in previous GTA games were of that ilk.

You know what really kills immersion for me?
Realism, dammit, every time I try to have fun it rears it's ugly head and takes away from the fun
,when start to think about the devs, and what they did good or bad, I stop being in the game.

One thing I would like to see is more use for different cars, like some more common generic typs,
would be more suited for tailing someone then an eye catcher, or the cops would have a harder time
getting you since your car doesn't stand out. In this scenario there would be much more use for normal
cars. Do offroaders perform better off road in GTA then normal cars yet?

I think I heard your character takes damage when he crashes into something with the car, is that true?

Would be sweet if you could go flying through the windshield after a head-on collision at full speed.

that makes saints row hilarious sometimes

Didn't GTA1 have that? The cops in that game were so much harder than the 3D ones.

Please no "red-light laws" in GTA IV. Driv3r had them, and it was annoying as hell. It was so ****ing annoying. You drive to red lights and cops come after you, you end up dead soon. But it was horrible game in every way.

Immersion shmimmersion. You can save that for the HL series, GTA is for screwing around and having fun. And being forced to drive the speed limit and abide to traffic light laws just to keep the cops off your ass isn't fun.

but how fun would it be to have the cop start writing a ticket

Not sure about the first one, but I wouldn't be surprised since you can now take bullet damage while you're in a car (if they manage to hit you). As for the second, you can and you do. :)

Right here. Go play Driver, then come back and tell me it'd be a good idea in GTA.

Actually though, it wouldn't be a bad idea as an option, or even an extra difficulty level. Playing through the game again with full traffic laws would be ****ing intense, and a great challenge.

Pretty sure that's in the game now :)

I just hope they have a better save system than previous gta games ..annoying losing an hour of gameplay because you fail a mission and have to redo every step again

It auto-saves after every mission I think. Or before... or both, I forget now. They've said it's alot less frustrating in any case.

auto saving after a mission seems pointless ..all they took out was that you had to drive back to your house ..you should be able to save mid missio so you dont have to redo sections just to get to the end of the of the mission

i agree...thats unbearable at times

I'd love to see mid-mission quick saving or a similar system.

San Andreas was a killer for difficult shoot-outs which were immediately followed by a sodding car chase with either the police or a rival gang. Being able to pick up after say, finishing the mission to a certain point would be nice to save frustration and overall "**** this I'm fed up" feelings.

the goddam chivato bouncing in a lowrider mission took me ages to complete ..cuz I'm white and therefore have no rhythm

the worst is when you start a mission with all the guns you need, die, then cant afford new guns...

That is why you save the game with the guns you have, then reload if need be...?

Yep. I'm fairly sure I saw in an preview or something that when you smack something hard enough, you get launched out of the drivers seat.
