Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony for Download on Xbox LIVE® and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Available on Disc for Xbox 360® this Fall

New York, NY - May 26, 2009 - Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the fall release of both the second episode of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony - exclusively for download on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, which will include both episode one The Lost and Damned, and episode two The Ballad of Gay Tony together on a single disc exclusively for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities."

Grand Theft Auto IV's second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City delivers two games on one disc - the all-new episode The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first episode, The Lost and Damned - together on disc for the first time - for Xbox 360 for $39.99 and will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on Xbox LIVE this fall for $19.99 or 1600 MS points and requires players to have Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download.

I wonder if you can date the gays?

wha? you never wanted to get head from a gay prostitute in a dark alley for virtual money?

I don't get it: You don't have to have the original GTA 4 to play the episodes on the new disc. So are there only the two missions on that disc? Is no one else of consequence from the City on that disc? Can you still freeplay and run and gun to your heart's content all over the different territories?

So why spend $40 on two missions when you can get many many more and loads of other content with the original??

This is a pretty disgusting money-grubbing scheme imho.

Also, remember that when they say, "exclusive," they really mean" timed-exclusive."

aren't they making a sequel due out at the end of the year also?? I'll just wait for that to come out. I've seen enough of Liberty City

I wonder how bad the gay stereotyping will be. I'm sure the game will be just fabulous anywayyyy!

This sounds so awesome and I am seriously jealous it's not coming to PC.

TLAD was one of the best DLCs I've ever seen for a game, so I have high expectations for this.

Lol at the people in the comments worrying about the gay stereotyping, as if you know, there aren't tons and tons of racial and cultural stereotypes in the GTA series.

I'd like to hear what Jack Thompson says about this.

Heh, just wondering if they'll add a new one to the list.

Think they've been there and done that with Bernie. :D

Lol, wurd.
It was so over the top, especially that one mission where you run with him through the park and his arms are flailing about.

I am not sure I completely understood the details of this DLC, but I hope that you actually get to play a homosexual character.

So this makes sense why that one xbox 360 achievement for gta 4 was called impossible trinity. The 3 characters from each, niko, johhny, and luiz show up. Pretty neat planning. Hope it doesn't suck.

lol moaning PS3 fanboys.

The two "missions" each last about 6 hours or so as they are full stories, not including messing about with new vehicles, weapons and new activities (the new mini-games on TLAD took up a lot of my time). And TLAD allowed full "free-play" mode, just like the original but with the added bonus of improved bike handling and a handful of new weapons and vehicles.

I'd go as far to recommend EfLC over the original GTAIV to new fans of the series as certainly TLaD was a better rounded game.

If they are going to release the 2 on a disk, that might mean that those are the last of the DLC. I hope not.

This looks pretty good! I'll be getting this one too of course.

You know we have a GTA forum section.

Forum id 123.

Looks really good. The characters in the cutscenes could be more animated, though.

looks great as expected
nice to see the return of the parachute :)

Timed exclusive, sure. But then who the hell is going to care in two years when it's released?

Not sure how I feel about this one. I wish they'd change the main character a bit, looks like one of the average citizens on the GTA IV streets.

Also disappointed he is not gay. I would have gotten a kick out of that... but it wouldn't sell.

im not gonna lie, that trailer completely changed my opinion about the game. it looks like they're bringing that balls out gameplay back which should be sick in Liberty City.

*smacks lips*

Parathyuteth. :3

I've read from a (pretty reliable) source that it's gonna have TANKS :D
Looks like they're finally choosing fun over 'realism' by going back to what made San Andreas so good.

Hopefully some geeks can port it to PC, not gonna buy a 360 for it.
