You know those California fires, well, my house is right in front of them, about 1.5 to 2 miles away. The smoke is really bad, as is the ash (smoke is one of my BIGGEST hates ever). Anyway, ill try to keep you updated.

I just saw the glow of flames in a hill behind my house. That is rather scary to see, but it is still rather far away.

Here is a picture from earlier before this above incident.

what what? fires? where are you? like, specifics? SF bay area?

When there were fires down here i got off of school for a week ^_^
So as long as your house doesnt burn down, you might end up ahead :p

I live in orange park acres, in orange county. Hasnt quite gotten that far yet. Oh, and i still have to go to school. yeah, i know, it really sucks.

I sit there waitng for my mom to call and tell me to come home and help evac.

It's sadly ironic the fire was started by a controlled fire intended to reduce the threat of wildfire that got out of control.

When I was living in California, we had this HUGE brush fire on a hill which was only about 100 feet away from my house. I remember the entire hill being completely covered in fire, like one massive fire-lump. I was only about 7 or 8 at the time, so it scared the shit outta me. The wiredest part though was this crazy guy who ran right up to the edge of the fire (despite the warnings of firemen) and took his shirt of and started waving it around like a male stripper. D :

I know what you're going through. I've been through a couple large scale fires. I live near the dry foothills and we get them all the time. The last one was the "Old Fire". http://www.incidentcontrol.com/oldfire/

I was at work when my brother called and said that they were evacuating my neighborhood. I went to the air base where the evacuation staging area was located. I remember looking out towards the distance where my house was located and seeing black smoke. My uncle offered to take us in for the night until we could figure out what to do. The next morning my parents checked to see if we had a house to go home to. Thankfully, it was still intact. There was ash everywhere though. It was an experience that I don't wish to go through again.

Good luck.

The whole damn sky is black, and family friends have been evacuated.

Well, dont know how close La Palma is to Orange Park Acres, but it might be possible. There are 2 fires though, at least now there is. It is basically on both sides of us now.

Man, the fires are coming from Santa Ana area or something like that. I see the crazy smoke here in LB. Not that big of a deal where I live...but, you live pretty close, same thing happened two years ago. Lotta smoke and ash.
