As the title implies, could you either write one or link me to one. Also, here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (F10 Bios)
2x512MB DDR2 GeiL 667MHZ (PC2-5300) /w heat spreader - I'll have another 2 sticks of these in the next day or 2
Asus 7600 GT PCI-X

Thanks. :)

Edit: Here is the sysinfo dump from CPU-Z, take a quick look for a basic idea about the current settings of my CPU/RAM, again, thanks.

CAS# 4.0
RAS# to CAS# 4
RAS# Precharge 4
Cycle Time (tRAS) 11

I have a gigabyte setup, did you not get some sort of overclocking software with the mobo drivers?

Check out your driver disk, because I'm sure you will have some sort of overclocking facility that they shipped with the motherboard

If you want to overclock properly, you do it via the bios. So I recommend not using any "overclocking" software, unless you can't change the bios settings (which you can).

Yeah, I don't want to use software.

I got the other stick of RAM + I'm going through the guides you guys posted and the ones I found elsewhere -- I should have some time when I get home from work to do some testing.

One thing, my CPU, right now, is idling at 54/53 and apparently it should be in the 30s or so -- I don't have much open, just FF, steam and 1 or 2 small apps, any idea why it's so hot ?

It's on the ground, the side case is unscrewed but leaning on the side and it's 6AM, not a particularly hot part of the day.. Why is it so hot ?? :(

Edit: Those temps are for Core0/Core1 otherwise SpeedFan is showing ~40 for some other temp (I just installed it and haven't configured what to show yet).

Remember to back-up any important data and set a system restore point before OCing. In a very uncommon scenario by doing it wrong it can fart Windows up.

Best be safe than sorry. :)

Aha, good idea, didn't really back up much. D:

Man, another 1GB of RAM makes such a difference.

Using the stuff you guys posted and some other ones I found, I had the CPU running 10 degress cooler without any overclocking by tweaking the BIOS settings (And with overclocking it still runs cooler) and I have it running @ 2.33 (1.86 stock) pretty much fine, every few hours something may crash so I need to do some more testing.

Just let Orthos run overnight or something. If it can do that it's stable enough to game all day.

Mine ran at +50C when I put my pc together as well. It's just the way it's built and it's mostly the lame HSF they give you with the cpu.

Don't use their HSF, buy a good one like the freezer 7 pro and before you install it, get some as5 thermal grease on it too.

Right now cpu is idling at 32C.

Gunner, the Freezer 7 pro comes with pre-applied arctic MX-1 paste, which is better than the AS5..

It's not better, AS5 dropped the temps around 4-5 degrees compared to mx1.
