I have played REAL guitar for over 7 years now, and laughed at the idea of guitar hero. I told myself that it was the dumbest thing I have ever seen....

Then I actually played it....now I bought it and think its probably one of the funnest things ever produced my activision. Im still trying to figure out if it will better my skill on a real guitar or hinder it. Either way, how many of you have it and do you still play it alot?

if the songs weren't so crappy I would get it too.
warpig is a good one though

Alot of the songs early in the game are pretty good, the latter ones tend to be very disonant, mainly just to make them hard though. I was excited to see they have downloadable content, but they rape you with the prices, and the songs arent that good.

anyone seen this?

If you have the PS2 version you should be able to get modded content. You'll need a modded PS2, though.

I love Guitar Hero, I have both games and two guitars.

you've obviously never played guitar hero to be saying that

i beat medium, now on to hard, but the orange button takes time to get used to

I don't really find Guitar Hero all that great, to be honest. I just can't get into it. It's pretty good at a get-together with a few friends, though. Once we had four people on one guitar; me strumming, one person per two buttons, and one person for the vibrato. So that was quite amusing. But I couldn't see myself playing it at home alone.

I have it and it's a lot of fun, but I rarely, rarely ever play it.

well whats wrong with sticking with the actual guitar, i would say its advantages far outweigh a guitar on a game. You certainly cant play gigs with it anyway.

Whats the with the post editing also? lol

It's a totally different kind of fun. I mean yeah, if you take real guitar THAT seriously you probably won't have a good time, but that also probably indicates that you're a tightwad who shouldn't be playing games. Some of the best guitar players I know are absolutely in love with Guitar Hero.

Because it's a video game, not a guitar sim. The bassist in my band loves guitar hero, and he also loves when we play gigs. Different kinds of fun.

But I find the actual instrument a lot more enjoyable as well.

Hmm, well i usually become terribly bored by mid summer, so i may give it a go then :D

Been playing this on rental for the past couple nights with a mate. I can definitely see it getting addictive once you get past the hand cramps...

5 star'd every easy and medium song but was still having trouble breaking through to hard as of taking it back... I think I got about 90% on Monkey Wrench on hard once, but besides that I wasn't having much luck.

Thing about this game is that, while it's incredibly fun on it's own, it's also seriously rekindling my interest in learning to play guitar. So yeah, +1 to to that "different kinds of fun" sentiment (besides which, I'm a drummer and still seriously want to see a drum hero :)).

Also, watch and feel meek -

Too bad it's fake :P One is him playing on the fret board there, but the video of HIM playing the guitar is fake

But I did laugh my ass off at it.

Oh man this game is hard. My friend and I beat it on medium and we moved on to hard a few nights ago. So far we have beat every song on the first try until we got to woman by wolfmother. We tried for 4 hours straight doing this song and the furthest we got was 72%. This song is impossible. It pisses me off. After playing this song I hate everything in the whole world that has every existed.

Anyone have any tips?

Have you tried ranting to strangers on your nearest internet message board? Oh, I see you have :)

Try slow-moing it on practice a few times, then take it section by section till you can nail it. Also, search "guitar hero tips" on youtube, I turned up a couple alright videos.

Practice Practice Practice. If you're having troubles figuring out which buttons to hit, slow it down in practice. If you're just having troubles keeping up, either go back to medium and try to 5 star every song, or continue working on Hard until you get the speed down. How are you holding your hands on the guitar? You may need to slide them down one button. Are you using the hammer ons? If you don't have those down yet, play Freebird on Hard and most of the notes on the first part are hammer ons, so practice them.

Other than that, the rest is just practice it some more. I know the frustration. I played Freya on Expert when I forst got GH2, and god did that song piss me off. It was hard for me to pass it. Now it's a breeze. Now I'm up to trying to beat Jordan again. I'm only up to beating it once. :(

Ya, this one requires ALOT of hammer on's and pull off's. The bridge is the hardest part. Your best bet is to play the song in training on slowest, then speed it up until you can play it fast. The pull offs are retarded how hard they are. Its not that hard on a real guitar.
