Guys shoots two people robbing neighbors house

Ill re-post what I said in fang's thread:

That guy had every intention of shooting someone when he went out. Justice for robbery is NOT getting shot by a psychopath with a shotgun. He could have ****ing killed someone innocent, and for no ****ing reason. Hope hes in trouble.

And Citizen Justice would indeed make a kick ass superhero name.

ya, he had no intention of waiting for the police

Jesus Christ, how many times did the dispatcher tell that guy not to go outside? :|

If they'd broken into his house, that's one thing, but this is just ****ing ridiculous.

the dispatcher didnt seem like he was taking the guy seriously at first either, i wont say he has any fault in it, but he could of done more

they did not pose a threat to him , he intentionally put himself in a dangerous situation (potentialy.. we dont know if the individuals were armed) to use it as an execuse to gun them down.

Yeah, i agree. Sounds like he didnt think the guy actually would do it, because the dispatcher sounded pretty pissed after the guy shot them.

he could of explained to the guy that since it is not his property he could be arrested or something. I dunno, i know they get calls all day but you have a responsibility to try and make a situation as least dangerous as it can be

Two birds with one stone: two idiots dead and one idiot locked up

Idiots 0 - 2 World

He should have just drawn his gun on them and told them to drop the loot, hands up, on the ground, etc. until the police arrived. Just like a police officer would do.

Gun control debate reopens yes/no?

/EDIT Who am I kidding, Cho didn't make the gun nuts see sense, no way in hell this will.

I hope he's charged and goes to prison. What a shit, he goes "I have to stop this," runs outside, shoots both of them, then goes "I had no choice!!!"

I must be the only person who agrees with this guy. Someone stealing your stuff? Gettin' blasted! That'll show them.

Yeah, until your ego gets the best of you, then you're just shooting anybody for whatever reason.

The courts will eventually find him guilty ... nevermind, its in Texas.

Yeah, I enjoy worst case scenarios too.

^ At first I was like ... seriousd, but then ... I lol'd.

Kind of feel like the operator for 9/11 was empowering him, egging him on.

I see his and the dispatchers side. The cops were too slow to have actually been any help. If it wasn't for the crazy guy, for all we know, the black guy could have been the one to rob somebody else, and kill the people he was robbing, including 8 year old Jenny, who was promised a brand new bike for Christmas.

If we're looking at worst case scenarios and all :p

Yes, can someone tell me what was the video? It looks like the neighborhood he described, but really nothing it it.

it just gives you the sound, nothing else...

video should've been of a circus...that would've been funny

After reading this article: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/chronicle/5303222.html

Article said:
Texas law allows people to use deadly force to protect their own property to stop an arson, burglary, robbery, theft or criminal mischief at night, or to prevent someone committing such a crime at night from escaping with the property.

The Texas Penal Code says a person can use force or deadly force to defend someone else's property if he reasonably believes he has a legal duty to do so or the property owner had requested his protection.

It seems as this man may have a chance to get away without any legal recourse at all. I don't care either way, because this is a whole "what if" situation.

What if this situation had happened at night, and it was just a couple of kids causing mischief? Do they deserve to get shot?

What if the man thought he heard a breaking window but it was actually a dropped drinking glass and he decided to shoot at the next person he saw?

I believe, after reading the article, there was very little chance for this to turn into a bad situation such as the two scenarios I mentioned. The two were clearly burglars, and were running away with his neighbors possessions. They were also not model citizens by any stretch of the imagination - they will not even be missed by anyone:

Police have not found the families of the dead men, who both are in their 30's. One had identification indicating he was from Puerto Rico, the other had paper indicating he may have been from Puerto Rico, Colombia or the Dominican Republic, he said.

Does this make their lives expendable? Not quite, but a little more so. They were burglars, breaking the law, and most likely to commit another crime down the road (with deadly force? Maybe, who knows. If the man had of missed his shots they could have got scared and decided to invest in some weapons and go on a deadly crime spree).

Theres plenty of scum in the nation that deserve punishment for the crimes they commit. Do the robbers deserve death? No. I don't care if someone is driving away in my own car - they don't deserve death (although its difficult not to want to shoot the bastard committing the crime right in front of me).

He wanted to shoot them because 1) He didn't want the crime to be committed and the criminals to get away scott-free 2) He didn't want to endanger himself by trying to stop them without lethal force.

Its difficult to let a crime like that just happen and not do anything but call the police, but its the proper thing to do. If they had endangered his life or other people's lives, then he would have been in the right to use his shotgun in the situation.

he didn't have to shoot AT THEM...he could've just shot around them, make them drop the loot n run away...like wtf stupid american hicks should all die.

Man **** that, they're criminals. Blast 'em. They'll steal again if you don't.

I don't think shotguns are accurate enough to shoot around someone without hitting them. If you shoot the ground around them then if you don't hit them from the bullet spray, the ricochet from the ground certainly will. If you shoot anywhere else, risk hitting your neighbors' houses (or even other people inside their houses).

Basically what I'm getting at is, if you've ever taken ANY sort of gun safety course, one of the major rules they tell you is "Do NOT point or shoot a gun at ANYTHING unless you are prepared to kill what you are pointing at."

i hope you're not serious...if you are then i feel bad for everyone who you associate with
Yes, well, I can play that game too and feel bad for everyone you associate with because you wouldn't shoot them.

I support Citizen Justice.

I won't lie, if somebody broke into my house and I had a shotgun handy I'd shoot them without a second thought. I'm a very reactive person. My neighbors' house, then I'm not so sure... I'd have a hard time letting somebody get away with that when I had the power to stop it. I get pissed off very easily. It's hard for me to blame the guy, even if he does sound a lot like a redneck ****.

just like the dispatcher said on the phone, property is definately not worth someones life. Get your priorities straight, big deal they get away with some loot...it's not like the police are total idiots and if they get away THEY WILL NEVER BE CAUGHT...like come on man, don't be ignorant.
