Bumpmapping video? Are you talking about the one with the AntLion Guard on top of the roof? When does that show a menu?Shuzer said:el Chi, AFAIK, the main menu in the stolen build is a placeholder. It conflicts with the menu we've seen in that bumpmapping video

Thanks
Nah. The devloper video where he takes that single polygon piece of wall, applies that rock-wall bumpmap and loads it up in HL2el Chi said:Bumpmapping video? Are you talking about the one with the AntLion Guard on top of the roof? When does that show a menu?
That was a good video. <el Chi goes to watch video>

mmm.. you ARE aware there's a stolen, playable build floating around the net, right?lemmingzappa said:well those hacker vids are seriously fake all of them are, he installs the game and it doesnt ask where to install it to, and you can obviously see where he is clicking to load the movie instead of the game.
Also the menu is very fake, probably made a skin in steam or something, and the camera is constantly moving so you cant see whats goin on......its FAKE

lol, but no.. I meant people who have played the stolen build (er.. have you? I didn't think you had lol), visit the csnation forums and see what I mean, they're horribly uninformed there.
"VALVe lied." "The hacker stole all VALVe had." "*insert pointless comment here*"
I've also tried to convince the people who think they're "1337" for having the stolen build that it's not current, that it wasn't optimized properly, etc.. most people won't listen
New enemies? The stolen build has.. maybe 3 enemies not seen in the Bink videos. I've played through it extensively, hours on end, played every level in it. It gives little to no story away (other than one level), all the enemies we've seen (except 3 or so). The only thing that it ruined for me was all the weapons, although half of them are missing models/have placeholders, I still used every weapon in the build. Oh well, the enemies weren't really shockingly spoilerish IMOFeath said:I saw some videos. It was on a site which claimed there were no spoilers. But as soon as you click on screenshots you see pictures which show enemies firing in different ways and new weapons. I count those as spoilers. So I downloaded some videos of the E3 levels. And they are RUBBISH. Seriously, you can complain about the way the guy plays the plays in the BINK videos but at least he made it interesting. Watching someone shoot at Combine soldiers isn't really very interesting.
The only interesting video was one which showed off the physics but the only way it did that was by using a new weapon.
I didn't download any videos of the other maps, I didn't trust them to be "spoiler free" especially when you count seeing a new enemy as a spoiler. Which the video maker didn't.
*hungover*
Well some leaks are legal and there for the purpose of being played to try drum up some interest.. such as the Stalker publicity stunt caused by desperation that Valve was getting tons and tons of free press (though I'm sure if Valve had a choice they'd rather the source code was never stolen and no press atall). And its understandable that if you didn't go to the sites like here or hlradio you'd not know it was highly illegal. Maybe a mate of his said he should try it, and mates being mates skipped the whole bit about he shouldn't even run it, then found out later he would be in serious trouble if caught using it.Quixote said:Once you "learned" how illegal it was? When would it ever possibly be even remotely close to being legal having a stolen copy of an unreleased game?
