I think you're exaggerating a little bit, but I do see your point.

I think there is a lot of uptight snobbisism in this community and on the internet in general that is not acceptable in real life and shouldn't be acceptable online. It's that people tend to measure other's intelligence by the way they talk/write. I used to make that mistake because it frustrated me to see butchered english, but now I realize that they have as much right to do it as immigrants have a right to speak with an accent. It reminds me of the little anecdote in Le Petit Prince when the science professor gives a talk in traditional muslim clothing and no one takes him seriously, but when he comes with a suit all of a sudden he's respectable. It makes absolutely no sense.

Look, part of the reason this site is so great is that the forum responses are (or at least seem) well thought-out, well written, and intelligent. Talking that way is one thing- I have no problem with the way people speak. When you actually sit down and type everything out bastardized, on the other hand... well, you come off as a bit of a tosser :/

I wasn't, personally, trying to make a statment. I was checking to see how people would react to TruMofo (who was trying to make a statement) in different forums. The response has been completely different from place to place.

If it's made me look like an idiot so be it.

This is the internet and I couldn't care less about what people think of me online. If they somehow are to become my future employers, they'll never know who I was.

lol, I'm really confused :p

I had a feeling that "gangster" couldn't POSSIBLY be serious with the way he typed. And was wondering why he wasn't banned yet, after I reported him twice.

I'm fine with people not typing well, but when I can't even understand what they are saying... In the midst of misspelled, alternatively spelled, and slang I've never heard of and don't know what it means, I am simply lost.
