Half-Life 2 More Then 96% In US Pc Gamer?

im guessing 96 % :p or 95% more then doom 3 anyway
 
it cant of got 96%. otherwise cliff would be saying how did he know that? he must have got the mag? so its not that. i guess higher? maybe 95% but its gotta be more then doom 3.. anyway im guessing 97 to 98%

Or look at it this way: If it scored lower than 96% would Cliffe be so quick to point out a fake? Nobody from Valve is gonna be like "OMG No way.....that is so fake.....we scored way lower than a 96! Don't believe the hype!" Quickly pointing out a fake HIGHER score makes no sense from their perspective. Financially they would want people to think HL2 is the best game ever.

Cliffe's rapid correction indicates to me that it got a higher score than 96% from PC Gamer. Which is incredible and totally awesome.

It seems really unlikely that it will get higher than 96%, but yes, I do think it will be higher than Doom3 now that PCG can look back on the game in hindsight. 94% or 95%.
 
Like it really matters what some pokemon stadium fan reviews hl2. I mean Jesus Christ. It is after all, Half-Life 2. No matter what the score. It's going to be 200% on my scale.
 
what do you mean the 96% score fake? i have the scan.. its 96 (for uk)
 
you guys are reading way too much into a simple statement.

I don't care what it gets, I know it'll be awesome.
 
I never trust mag reviews to start with. I will review this game myself, so should you.
 
Soz about this question but has anyone who isn't a subscriber to Pc Gamer seen the new issue in the shops ?

In PC Gamer US and the Doom 3 incident? I think not.
 
All we know is that it didn't get 96%. To assume anything higher is to set yourself up for dissapointment.
 
am I wrong or is the review along the line of :
"the start sequence is great u wanna see that"
"the bridge level is great u wanna see that"
"the combines are great u wanna see that"
"the strider is fantastic u wanna see that"

..what about the game, the AI, the graphics, how it runs, what's improved....did they actually play the game or did they report some sort of valve press release, or probably they whatched a video of somebody playing it.

Never trust exclusive reviews. I find they don't really give a proper feeling for what the whole game is about. The Doom 3 exclusive reviews were identical, nothing but praise. There's too much politics involved. These mag companies don't want to bag a game potentially forfeiting future exclusives with the company in question. Yes..politics...

The truth finally came out with the post-release reviews. Gamespot really got into it giving it a well deserved 8.5/10.

PC Gamer said it was very intelligent, with Combine trying to outflank you etc. At least that's what I remember reading.

They said it looks really good as far as I know. Apparently not as impressive as Doom 3, but I remember them commenting HL2 had "life". :)

Yes PCG UK gave it a 96% but some goofball said he had the mag and the review (US version) and that it also got 96%. Cliffe, our lord and savior confirmed it was fake. :D
 
I don't care if it gets 1% as long as the game goes gold before christmas !

i hope this one gets 97 % or 98 % :D


EDIT : i think it will get higher than 96% , cuz Cliffe came here and said its fake. if its lower than 96% why he will bother to come here and say that rumour is fake. hope u understand what im talking about :p.
 
Cliffe's denial has two possibilities:

1) "It's fake. Don't get your hopes up for such a high score."

2) "It's fake. PC Gamer would not have scored it that low."
 
i just cant see it getting lower then doom 3's 94% we have 2 96% review's. it's gotta be somewhere from 95% skip 96 to 99%. i reckon it will get 97 or 98% like the original. it could be less then doom 3 but i cant see that happening.. we will find out soon but..
 
Doom III got 94% and HL2 isn't 96%... so it has to be at least 97%. Using Doom III as a frame of reference I'd give something like UT2004 a 114, but whatever. I think HL2 is going to get a 98% which would tie it with Alpha Centauri as the top rated game in the magazine's history.

Where the hell is the new issue anyway? Didn't they say it would be last week?
 
No game not even this one deserves anything more than 90% when all they have done for MP is re hash a 5 year old crap mod.

More to the point - is a magasine that gave Doom 3 94% even worth considering??

(let's face it, giving any game a score of 95%+ is just ridiculous - regardless of how great it is)
