Half-life 2 Review Coming Soon?

It's been hinted that in the US version of PC Gamer, which will come out in a little less than 3 more weeks, will have a full REVIEW of Half-Life 2! No stupid little preview, but an entire REVIEW!

This means that HL2 must be FINISHED, or EXTREMELY close to it!

Looks like we might see HL2 early to mid September after all!
 
They didn't hint that it would be HL2. In all likelyhood it is probably the Sims 2.
 
if its the earth shattering review or whatever the crap the quote is, then everything is speculation on to what game it is...

oh and if it is indead that, then this has been posted numerous times
 
What do you mean by hinted? Sometimes game magazines have upcoming reviews/previews listed in copies that go several issues before appearing.

Oh, and good lord my heart skipped a beat when I read that. I was hoping it was an online review you'd found, hopefully with a provided link!
 
Missleading topic title. I predict a mod will impose a more proper name within the next 12 hours.

They say, "If you think we scored big with the first review of Doom 3, then dont miss next months issue where we have another first review of a senses-shattering title! Plus a first review of Rome: Total War...yata yata"

damn , thought it was something new , we knew this for a while now , but it is most likely gonna be the sims2 probably the issue after that will be hl2 review.

Ask yourself, would the industry race to see how the sims 2 is? NO! 12 year old schoolgirls would be excited but not the industry!! Sims 2 isn't exactly SENSE Shattering either.

Only Half-Life 2 is worthy of such language.

I'll definitely eat my own ass with a spoon if i'm wrong though.
 
so i guess this game will shatter our senses, effectively leaving us in a vegetative state.

While some have speculated that this could be referring to The Sims 2, I'd like to point out that "senses-shattering" is a terribly improper adjective for such a game. This is almost certainly referring to Half-Life 2.

It might be senses-shattering to all the teenage girls and old folks who play Sims. Its all relative. :thumbs:

The only thing that would shatter my senses would be a review of DNF, but we all know that won't happen.
 
im thinking though, CS:S is going to come with HL2 and could be a factor in its review, but its obviously still in beta, are they going to review just the SP? that would be a bit strange. what if they say, this has no MP, we give it a 80%! unless of course hl2mp is complete and also being reviewed. i dont know. i just dont know anymore! *storms off*

When I read the title of this thread, I thought to myself "WOW! Is it possible? There's 2 pages to this thread already... clearly some mod didn't just pop in and close it for BS... COULD IT BE?!"

I think there is a slight possibility it is HL2 considering the soon to be preload and also the supposive HL2 review thats coming in weeks from the yahoo games domain site, were we got the bink from.

sims 2 = "earth shattering" = lame

anyway, even if there's a chance that it's hl2, what would prevent valve from say, "sorry PCGamer, game's not ready yet, no review for you"?
 
absolutely nothing would stop then from denying them the review and hold it back a month.
 
The PCGAMER mags have don that before. Review next moth it says on the back page. Doesent come out until after next. Like it was with Doom 3.

I was thinking the same.
 
it'll have to be a review of some kind of beta, or they are just waiting for CS:S to go final, because CS:S is still beta and so they'll either be reviewing halflife2 with its MP which is CS:S, OR they'll review hl2 SP only and give hl2 a low score because it has no mp. so i kinda doubt there will be a review of the full game. i mean, theres no way that situation can work, unless someone can enlighten me

a preview is sometimes a review of not-final material, but a PC gamer review is always of the full version of game.

Valve will give PC Gamer the final version, or a version VERY close to a final version to review. PC gamer will play through it and give it a score.

Simple as that.

no, pcgamer doesn't review betas. they review final versions.

and what about CS:S? its hl2's MP component, so are they going to be reviewing the beta of that? if they are reviewing the current beta they are going to dock points for the entire review
 
This is all speculation, but i have a feeling they'll just be reviewing HL2 single player and sort of tack on a bit of info about CS:S at the end. Just say "It's the same gameplay as 1.6 with a few nice physics.". It doesn't really deserve an entire review, just a little snippet.
 
who says CS:S is HL²'s MP? The fact that they havent mentioned it or have not spoke any secqure word about it? With that kind of logic.. then there wouldn't be any source or HL² but there has.. We all know that VALVe can keep secrets, maby they just dont wan't to spoil more.. with the beta leak, the script leak etc. and the numerous previews done by magazines who already revealed more then valve would have wanted to.

We also thought that the graphics of source went downhill but the planet halflife screens obviously said otherwise. so dont say anything like its a fact. You can never know with VALVe, they might play it as a thrumphcard. Anything is possible so STFU

And about the review.. I don't know about that, unless there would be any substantial proof like some image in the current issue like some hidden crowbar or sort's. I dunno, valve did said that there would be a new media release close to release.. and all evidence points into the direction that HL² is on the verge of going gold, and thus we getting a releasedate.
 
We'll know for sure if HL2 has a mp by monday. We'll snoop in the GCF file for MP specific clues!
