Half-Life 2 Update

i still got the stuttering. it seems to be better.. sometimes.. but nonetheless.. it exists.. :( especially the opening sequence ran smoother. but in other levels, when npc's talk or someone shoots, it crops up.

i will update my ati driver, now and change the resolution and try other stuff....
 
I bet I'm not going to get surprised. Me = pissed at Valve. :D

They only worked their asses of for about 5 years non-stop to make arguably the best computer game ever made.

I hope it's HLDM! I think I've almost completed singleplayer and there aren't any mods out. So I don't know what to do. But with HL2DM I will have to do something until the mods come out, and even when there are already a lot of fantastic mods released I will still play HL2DM a few times a week because it's so much fun. HLDM was fun and with physics and 1337 graphics it can only get better.

omg they egg us on like this... they it better be a REAL suprise and not some bs..

but for some reason i have this fear it will be a huge letdown..

maybe if i keep this mindset, ill not be too disappointed no matter what comes out of this :)
 
They will release Source SDK next week? What is it then that we have already? I thought it's the SDK? (sorry if it's a stupid question ;))
 
hey hey what if the ending in hl2 wasn't really the true ending and valve was releasing the last couple of levels (j/k)

it is probably hl2dm

beta version of the SDK, only any real use for basic work on CS:S, just to give people an idea of whats to come, the SDK next week "should" be the full proper one with all the extra files and info needed to make proper mods.

Granted there is a way to get the current SDK working with HL2 resources, but your still limited, even if you "ahem" use parts from the stolen build, its still not a full working method, that wont happen until Valve release the proper one.

What's with all the people decieving themselves by saying "ITS HL2DM!!! I KNOW IT!!!". Seriously, they already announced that they wouldn't release a HL2DM, I suppose that would make it a big surprise for sure, but what makes you think they're gonna do it?
 
I reckon it's TFC: Source, myself.

Which gets me veeeery excited.

how about the "BIG SURPRISE" being a £35 game which works properly!!

Valve are f@#%king t055ers!!

trying and succeeding on distracting all OF you, from the fact you paid them loads of money for a game whiCh has taken 5 years to make and doesnt work properly for about 60% of users!!!

Can you not recognise a smoke screen?? everyone is going to be thinking about this "surprise" now, and feeling that valve do love us after all, "look their releasing a surprise for the "community"".

VALVE SHOULD GET HL2 SORTED PROPERLY BEFORE RELEASING ANYTHING ELSE!!!!

Why would you buy something that's still in the Beta testing phase?


You = Very sensible in holding out on buying HL2.

Me = impatient sod with game that's about as polished as something the Time Team have dug up!


And f**the surprise :angry: I want the surprise to be a patch that sorts this shit out!
 
the game works fine for me, sure I get that stuttering problem but no game is bug free when they ship....that's what patches are for

I hope the surprise is a class/objective based MP: resistance vs combine
 
I can't see it being DOD:S as I thought that was only available to the silver and gold account holders.
 
Possibly:

- ATI levels?
- CS:S opened up a bit so new maps can be used?
-New player models?
-Chickens in Italy level?

There is a "Friends" menu option in Half-Life2. Being a "single player" game, what other purpose could there be for this menu option?

Obviously there are hooks in the program to add MP to HL2. Rather anti-climatic, but I think that'll be the "surprise" in a week and a half (Seriously, have these guys ever met a target date?)

oh yeah, and has the update released, becuase i haven't been 'updated' yet...
 
I'm pretty sure this update hasn't been released. I've closed & opened steam and saw nothing (even for the smallest updates theres usually a wait)... I've been in game quite a lot and the stuttering is still there as before... We'll see.

I thought that the SDK was out already? When I click on it, I get the Hammer editor...is that not the SDK? Am I missing something here?

Maybe this is when the... time will be... right and the Half Life 2: PHP will be playable...
 
game games loading times seem to have increased and the stuttering is still there
 
i still have stuttering.. maybe patch is supposed to be next week? all i saw was verifying half-life2 files, not updating message.
