they've been planning to use ati since the idea of a second xbox was created. a 6800 has never been considered.

I cant find the article that talked about the 6800 being used so maybe your right, though i do remember reading about ther 6800 being used... who knows

I heard the HL2 was already confirmed an Xbox 2 launch title, along with Perfect Dark Zero

Checked around, and it does look like HL2 is heading to the XBox 2 (cnn reporting: http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/18/commentary/game_over/column_gaming/). I also checked a few sites, and HL2 is on the tentative XBox 2 launch title list. But, the XBox 2 is slated for the end of 2005.
