Half-Life2 delayed to November. (for sure)

Tell me one thing, why do we need a new thread about delay showing up everyday? Gets old very fast and again, nobody has ANYTHING to say and people are just guessing like they always do. Move on already to something new to whine about.. like I don’t know, about how HL2 characters don’t look real and what is/not render

EBGames being one of the, if not "THE" biggest online game retailer tends to have correct ship dates (especially for games that will be shipping within 6-months) give or take a week due to actual shipping problems/last minute game-stopping bugs.

GameStop and Amazon just have simians running their site. Hell, look up the Team Fortress 2 page on GameStop. Frickin' hilarious.

Now I don't care if Eskimos in Alaska, or Cannibals out of South America post in their local native tabloids that the game is/isn't delayed, because well....IT'S DELAYED.

I'll dip my nutz in hydrochloric acid if I'm wrong. DSCowboy's post just put the last nail in the coffin for me, coupled with Gabe's uncharacteristic silence ("no comment") over the whole deal and the EBGames unchanged ship date should be enough proof for any rational person. This of course does not apply to the "Gordon is God" cult running rampant through these boards.

Well, until we get an unambigious official statement that the game is delayed, I'll choose to believe what Valve has been specifically saing for the past few months.

I think it's likely to be delayed as well. Like I said in another thread, I think they're at the point where it WILL be done by Sept. 30 if everything that they've got to finish goes according to plan. If some things take longer than they should (because problems arise), then it will be delayed. It's that freakin' simple; that's why they're not commenting on it right now because they don't know themselves. They don't want to disappoint us if they don't have to. Other people have already said the same thing, but it seems like some people just don't get it.

This is off topic, but I thought it was really amusing. Went to amazon.com and saw the release date of Oct. 30. But what was even more ridiculous than that was that people have already begun to "Review" the game. This one is particularly amusing:

Ok everybody, I've heard rumours that this isnt actually Half Life 2, it is actually half life 1, under a different name, and it has a few new enemies named 'biozeminades' which can make themselves look good, and you have to kill them with spray paint. Apparently, the half life 2 e3 video and trailer were made with frame by frame animation (so it is not the game) by Yago Zebadiah, who is from France. However, this half life 2(1) is still looking good, and i hope that the biozeminades are as good as people say they are

This is very likely to be true, due to the size and amount of development gone into HL2, I figured it would be delayed.

It clearly made sense in his head... what a very very odd person. I'd like to think he was just trying to be funny, but I think he's just got waaay too paranoid

May I ask why the same people come into every single thread about the HL2 delay to say that it is delayed or not, then start the same old argument with little changes here and there?

Better question:

Why the hell are people still posting about the HL2 delay if VALVe or VU have givin enough mixed messages that could sramble a radar?

Just don't worry about it. Most of you are what 10 - 25 years old? You have plety of years left in your life, do other things while you wait, a couple of months is not that bad.
Working to get money to buy upgrades is a good idea. Or studing for a test in school so you don't screw yourself over with a 1.5 GPA.

So it may / has not gotten delayed. So what? A lot of games get delayed. Some suck ass and were never worth fussing over, others are awsome and were worth the wait.

Until Gabe comes out and gives an answer or VU actully stops giving all these mixed up messages you should all go do something to pass time and just forget about it.

If it wasn't for the fact that you're presuming that no one on these forums has a life then it'd be a very worthy post, but otherwise, it's very closed minded.
 
I ment other than talking about the HL2 delay they could be doing something more worhty of their own time, but it is their choice entriely. Everyone has a life, sorry if I made the post sound like that.

Well Valve obviously has tossed in speculation on the release date so that

#1) they can now try they're damndest to release on Sept. 30th, but if they need to now... since all the release dates are flying around they can push it back and the public will have expected that.

#2) they can still release on sept. 30th and now surprise everyone that thought it was pushed back

the confusion has bought them time and the element of surprise, :) i expect it sept 30th

see hl2 must release after cs:cz otherwise Cs will get no moola.... I mean who would buy CS:CZ if they already had hl2
now HL2 was supposed to be out sept 30, but Ritual are too busy with l33t feces 2 and have still not completed cs:cz (thats kinda sad, that something thats basically cs with some single player has taken this long to complete) and valve arent saying anything till they know whats going on at ritual...

btw this is all based on fantasy

its the same date in a swedish gameshop too 2003-11-14 =o(
but in amazon its 30 Sept. =o/
 
What vivendi/ritual doesnt see is that so many people will be pissed off that CS: CZ delayed HL2's release and forget about buying the game and play BF1942: Secret Weapons of WWII instead of a game with a 5 year old engine they think they can make look better....

Just give us HL2...
 
what scares me a bit are the words "we worry". It is mentioned in the last post of the valve info forum but Gabe said it quite lot lately. "We worry about getting the game shipped". Damn, i worry too now :)
 
i still think that that newspaper talked about the old Vivendi announcement a couple of days ago...and since they ware taken back...
and i dont think that there will be allot of delays, maybe 1 week or so..probably due to problems with the shipping or summit, i am really afraid for european ppl (/me lives in Belgium) those games are quickly available most of the time but if there went something wrong you have to wait 7-10 days
 
Ok here's how I see it Valve waited 5 years to announce Hl-2 so they must have been pretty sure they would be able to release it when they it is going to be released. Now it is possible they ran into some horrilbe bug during testing or it took too long for them to figure out how to fix the AA problems, or it could be that VU is holding the game for some reason (ie. To help the sales of Condition Zero.) So it really could go either way. But guess what, we have no idea what is going to happen. Typhon is one of the only people who made smart comments. I espically liked the one about the media being basically a bunch of liars. I mean think about it how many people have decided to read their newspaper because it has "offical news" about the possible Hl-2 delay?
 
when people are posting "HL2 Delayed (FOR SURE)" all that it means is the person who posted (at least in his/her mind) is convinced that to be truth.
but for general consumption there is no positive answer, therefore no matter how strongly you feel, until VALVE says otherwise EVERYTHING is speculation, and the last known thing valve has announced is its due sept 30th.

Vivendi can goto hell. They should let Valve release the date and not some turd burglaring company (i couldnt think of another word)
