Half-Life2 delayed to November. (for sure)

Some of you people need to kick back, relax, and bitch slap yourselves. You are all over hyping this game, and demand it be released when YOU want it. I am getting sick of it. Trust me, I want the game just as much, if not more, than you guys. I don't whine every day about speculation on release dates.

Wait until there is an official announcement. Only then we will know the truth. Until then, shut up. Quit spamming message boards.

pple should take Marauder's advice..

this is like only the 20th thread on here about HL2 delay.. and probably the 2nd or 3rd one on the first page.. along with the rest somewhere between pages 2-6 seriously.. Munro has to start doing something about it even tho this may sound a bit extreme to some pple..

lets take some of the points the few intelligent pple have made and leave the release date to whatever Valve/Vivendi decide on.

1. someone pointed out that Vivendi has an interest in both CS:CZ and HL2 (it happens to be the publisher of both games) and thinking this through in a business sense, it does not make any business sense to release CS:CZ and then 2 weeks later release HL2.. ya it would kill the sales that CZ might have/will make the idea here is to maximize sales from Vivendi's point of view.

2. anyone heard of a contract? yup.. thats something Valve more than likely has with Vivendi.. in which somewhere there is a line that refers to a steam release of HL2.. a smart publisher would not allow this before the retail release (don't ever go into business if u don't know why) so when the game is released through retail is when u can probably get it through steam

3. Gabe did go on record as saying September 30th is the release date but an intelligent person would consider how much say Vivendi has in this (see point # uno).. and his most recent "no comment" quote puts the September 30th release at 50-50. simply put Valve and Vivendi have not confirmed or denied delay questions again.. 50-50

look, im not on any band wagon here.. if the game is available September 30th, then WONDERFUL! but alot of pple are setting themselves up for a disappointment if they believe theres no or little chance for delay.. take the release date with a grain of salt pple... really.. please

and quit the delay threads, SHEEESH :x

and its 90% to do with your signature :)
Trent = #1, man when is the new album coming out?

We lost the battle, but we didnt lost the war
Dont give up, Vivendi is publisher, game creators is Valve software, if Valve says: "Game relase is September 30th 2003." that will be true

I agree, people here seem to think that it is 100% for sure that HL2 is delayed. I laugh at them, maybe it is delayed but you CANNOT be 100% sure when it is only rumors that are flying about.

Yep - rumours suck.

Look at this poor fella in my sig.

There has never been official word on delaying.

I wrote a page about it, but i got connection loss and apperently it wouldn't save what i had written.

i am excited about the release of HL2 but whatever the release date will be we cant change it so im not really bothering reading too much into it but i thought i would tell you all that...

I was looking at my order sheet for the games/dvds i have pre-ordered and noticed halflife 2 has been changed to 28/11/03 so i guess it will have been delayed as it used to say the sept date instead oh well we will still get it by christmas :)
im prety sure they wouldnt change the date without an official word on this one but maybe they are just making sure they cover for any delays that may occure :) *fingers crossed*

Magneticnub, the game is not finished. Gabe himself said in several emails the got alot of spickNspan touching up to do. Please stop making yourself look dumb. kthxgoodbye

If u can read portuguese click on the link below.
http://gameover.sapo.pt/w10/411099.html?

What it says is that after vivendi is now saying that hl2 will be lauched on time, plus Valve has been great with all the info and emails so if there was something wrong they would lets us now.

Well I don't know Portugueses so I translated it on the internet. Although I can only barely understand it here is the article that LUSITANO gave the link to.

epois of a series of rumors that gave as certain the adjournment of
Half-Life 2, after all, seem that they had not passed exactly of this.
We are happy! The Valve Software set appointments the launching of
Half-Life 2 for 30 of September, then after the announcement of the
game. However, the plans of the Of life one had always been more
vacant, being very certain if the exit of the heading would not happen
in the third or room trimester of the year. After the some rumors that
had appeared relative to an eventual adjournment, It brags Newell,
responsible of the Valve, confirmed that of the part of software-house
it did not have any alteration, being the launching fixed for the end
of September. In the Of life one, although formal Half-Life 2 to be
foreseen for the room trimester, the publishing company continues to
affirm that the FPS will arrive until us in the date initially
foreseen. It remains us, then to wait for more new features of this
soap opera Half-Life 2!
Even though this is far from being proof that HL2 is not delayed it is still a good thing to hear.

EDIT: If anyone can do a proper translation it would be a good thing. :)

EDIT#2: Hey I didn't notice that that was your first post LUSITANO, welcome.

I tryed in a program and got a shitty translation too :(

When threads get this long(especially about Half-Life 2's delay) I get a hard time trying to find out what people are really talking about.
Can someone fill me in?

Ok Tredoslop, here's the gist:
Half Life 2 is or isn't delayed. No-one's sure. One day it is, one day it isn't. We don't know, Vivendi don't know, Valve don't know and neither of those last two are letting on as to whether they do or do not know AND as to whether it is or isn't on schedule. Monkeys are replacing journalists and writing articles daily changing the sory as to whether it is or isn't on and jornalists are replacing monkeys in zoos worldwide throwing faeces at one another. Meanwhile the entire community has been split down the middle and left-ways saying that it both is and isn't on time at the same time whilst retailers confuse everyone by pulling dates out of their arses treating it as gospel and then everyone hates them for doing so. The community is pulling dates and reasons out of each others' arses and hates each other and everyone except Gabe but even then things can get testy. And all the while bees are plotting to take over the world and we're too pre-occupied with HL2 to notice.
So in summation:
1. The game is and isn't delayed.
2. Everyone hates everyone.
3. Bees.

thanks :)

Trent has been working on the next album since early May.. so im guessing early next year for the album..

i know this is a bit off topic but since i was asked about Trent, i want to say something about him no longer doing the sound for Doom3 since i have read postings trashing Trent..

Word was, that the game was taking way too long, whether it was the guys over at ID software or otherwise, Trent did have his own work to deal with and he probably (the delay annoucement of Doom3 is some sorta proof of that) felt this whole Doom3 thing would drag on way too long and he wouldn't be able to complete his other projects. His choice, i support him :)

Trent = musical god :p

right... and i suppose u skipped the few intelligent posts in this thread, including mine, in which we clearly discussed that Vivendi and Valve more than likely have a contract.. and Valve probably can't do as they wish even tho they happen to the developers of the game..

SpuD, either u skip posts, or u just don't know how to read...

if u read my original post, u would know that i never claimed that where was a delay, or whether the game would be on time..

i just requested that pple take the release date with a grain of salt..meaning not to take release dates too seriously..

its the healthiest approach.. in the slight possibility it does get delayed in the next 2-3 weeks.. that way, u don't set urself up for a huge disappointment..

bah!
what does it matter if u skip this post or don't know how to read anyway.. :|

Yes, there is always a chance (HL1 was delayed, BTW). But there has been no evidence to indicate it (on the contrary Valve is still saying Sept. 30 up until now). Which probably means they have the game finished already and are just ironing out minor bugs. Keep in mind the gold date is Sept 13 and that when we really need to keep our eyes and ears open.

damn straight.
Im a Trent Fanboy 100%, and I actually was only looking forward to doom3 when I heard he was on-board for the sound and music.
I mean cmon, quake 1's soundtrack made the game :D
as I have posted numerous times before, I no longer care when doom3 comes out now that Trent dropped them.

Im not saying its gonna be a bad game, just that it no longer interests me.

EB games says that Half Life 2 is scheduled for a November release while every where else says September. I am so confused (sob).

Yup, same here

Im just kickin' back and watching everyone be confused, pickin' up hl2 media along the way.

Translated that article (i'm kindda sleepy, so bear with me on some parts :) ):

After a series of rumours stating that HL2 was delayed, it seems they are just that (rumours). We are very happy!

Valve Software set the release date on September 30th, when the game was first announced. However, Vivendi's plans were more vague, not assuring if the game would be out on this year's third or fourth quarter.

After many rumours about the delay, Gabe Newell confirmed Valve's intention to release the game on september 30th.

Even though formally stated by Vivendi that HL2 is due to a fourth quarter release date, the editor still confirms it's initial plans (sept. 30th).

All we can do is wait for the final chapter of Half-Life 2's Soap-Opera.

I don't care what it says here, I'm walking into the store on September 30 to get my copy of Half-Life 2, and I won't leave until I have it.

So how long can you go without food or water? You may need to hide in the bargain bin and steal food from the customers.
