Yes, it is here! Digi has sorted out all the plumbing and technical glitches to get us a brand spanking 8 Players Left 4 Dead Private Server for us to organise games in and definitely connect to a server which can handle 8 players in one server. I think we've all had those troubles in the past.

ANYWAY, to organise games:

1) Jump into our Steam community chat room - Join here
2) Rally people up in the room and see who wants to play. If there aren't enough players ask a Steam officer to make a group announcment, and bring more people in.
3) Connect to ip provided below or on our Steam Community homepage

The server is based in London, and is solid as a rock, no crashes or lag seen yet! We are passwording this server so it's just for Halflife2.net users to use, this password can be obtained from any of our staff members. Feel free to pass it on to other forumites, but don't make it public please! This is done to stop people connecting to it via matchmaking.

Therefore to connect to the server:
1) Open the console (' key under ESC)
2) Type without speech marks "connect 217.163.27.233:27015"

It will then ask you for the password, see above for details on obtaining this. That is it! Hopefully we can get together and play some more of these insanely fun versus games. Post game results and details here too if you like. :)
 
Digi and I have been working on getting this server up to tip top shape, and I'm just curious if we resolved the "Players 4/8....yet you can't have any more!" issue.

If so, HURRAY! I figure it wasn't anything more serious than adding the command to let humans be zombies in the server cfg.
 
Nice work guys. It's on the other side of the world to me and I'm getting a ping of 350 which is most often too high (especially for versus). But I'll check it out when I can :)

The problem was with the default map of the server, it was the coop one
I contacted them and they changed it, now everything is fiiine


I have to say without Pitz, We wouldn't have this server

I can't wait to get a few good games on this baby. Too bad by the time I get home, it's late for everybody over in the euroland.
 
The server is still kinda broken. It's in campaign mode, but it allows VS play. It screws things up for the infected side because rooftops are not rendered and infected can't see or use many of the climbing points. Also, it's pretty obvious it's campaign because it has the campaign version of the No Mercy finale (and we can adjust difficulty on the fly).

It was still pretty fun even though most of the time I was on it 1v1 with Love4Fire :D
 
I get ~180 pings from Seattle when I tried, and it surprisingly wasn't that bad. Valve did a great job with the networking code in L4D!
 
Love4Fire and I just played Dead Air on VS. It still doesn't have climbing points and whatnot for the infected, but it's kinda fun to mess around on (especially after putting the difficulty on expert :D).
 
yeah its fun to see the infected side on dead air except there are no tank spawns at all, even on expert
 
Digi linked me to a hack that has been developed to allow versus on all 4 campaigns, he might have installed it? Cheers for the feedback!
 
Yeah, Digi mentioned he found one. I was wondering how long it would take for that to come out lol...

I wonder if he did install it.
 
We putting the server through it's rounds today?
 
I saw you guys playing earlier tonight, maxed out 8 player game? How was it? I hear there were no issues with the versus gameplay which is great. Glad to see it stood up to the test.
 
Yeah, i posted that before :p I had to print out some papers though... And now i need to take them to work.

OK Guys, I've finally gotten Sourcemod and Metamod installed on the server. As of right now, I'm the only admin, so watch your asses! >=P

I'm going to playing with Digi tonight after work. Beer + Left 4 Dead = Awesome night....

I'll be on at 7:00 CST, so be there or be...triangle....I mean Square.

I bought L4D today. I should be on in a bit if anyone wants to play campaign with me.
 
Is the VS server still there? As far as I can tell it doesn't exist anymore...
