For the hardcore XBOX users, HL2 is no bigger than any other game so Halo 2 is their main stuff. Halo 2 has much more to offer in MP that's for sure with hopefully a good solid SP campaign along with it. No mods though.

the joy of being at a lan party with like 16 mates via linked up xbox's is ummatchable.. the halo insanity is just.. well amazing.. so many possibilities and ways to have fun as a team or just plain killing each other... its truly an experience to be recon'd with

except you have to realize.. pc gaming costs alot more then alot of people around where I live can afford. Xbox is there way of peering into the next-gen and having a blast while doing so. and there isint another title that comes close to it's ownage on x-box.

Don't be so quick to compare HL2 to Halo 2. We don't know anything about HL2's multiplayer, it could even be a 100 player limit set in the whole of City 17 with vehicles !. I'll perhaps hire Halo 2 when it comes out though, just for a *quick* fix before the big boys (Half-Life 2, Doom 3) come out to play .... :)

The Xbox is all well and good for people who can't afford top of line hardware. I'm just saying it aint the best thing available.

Funny, I was distinctly underwhelmed by the E3 presentation.

err

concept -> development -> alpha -> beta -> gold ->release

am i wrong on that, is there something else im missing...should it be gold now? or does that not apply to consoles

when the first beta is completed it means they finally have a complete build to test tweak.. there is still alot of working and tweaking to do.. soemtimes even revamps of entire sections in extreme cases. We will just have to see. But it will make the date no doubt.

Lets hope it has another of those "Oh Shit" moments like the ending in Halo then shall we?

Oh, let's rate halo 2's MP on a 10 minute tutorial...

Look at some of the recent screenshots, the maps are humungous (10 times larger than the shown zanzibar) and best for 16 player match ups, also many new smaller maps have been created. Not only that, Bungie is making air vehicles possible too for the xbox version. You really can't base your judgement on a stupid tutorial which tells us how to use the new game mechanics (dual weild, e.t.c)

I simply cannot wait :)

Gonna have a big lan session when Halo 2 comes out.

from the looks on the mp, i see it as being as fun as this:
you see someone riding a vehicle towards you, press a button, throw him out
ride towards another person, get thrown off, repeat.

You know it won't be anything like that.

Bungie did a great job with Halo (on the Xbox it's still one of the most rewarding multiplayer experiences around) and there's very little chance they'd mess up Halo 2.

The 'kick out the vehciles' trick only seems to work with ghosts (which also have that new super boost move. Run towards one and your gonna get half a tonne of peurple metal right in the face :) )

Why must people put down halo!!?!?!?

Its great fun! :)

I seriously cant wait. (Dont have an XBOX, but I am sure someone I know will! :p)

This year is sooo frickin fantastic for us gamers. I just hope I have the cash!! lol

Goddamn it. The entire world is after my wallet sometimes.

Nah, you can mount Warthogs as well for sure. I don't know about other vehicles, but you can read on a recent update about enemy players mounting the gunner seat and blasting the passengers out. (... :cheese: )

Really, I don't see vehicle mounting as anything but a great gameplay facet. It's going to take a little bit of skill to pull it off, as the vehicles have to be going relatively slowly in order for you to be able to mount them (if they're going too fast, the "Press X to Board" won't ever show up). And being able to mount any seat and proceed to shoot the vehicle's occupants sounds like a lot of fun to me.

On another note... Wouldn't it be awesome, seeing as H2 is in beta state, that Bungie found so few bugs that they could release the game early? Yeah, I know it's to my knowledge never happened before, but hey, they might not need five months to fix up the game, right?

what halo started in MP, UT2k4 topped big time.

I can't wait to kick someone out of the ATV and ride that thing...now who here has xbox live?

Everything looks so awesome - the covenant shadow (I think) is their version of the warthog which has a plasma turret in response to the machine gun one of the humans and space for the 3. Gotta try that out too! :D

Yes, you can mount any vehicle according to Bungie.

I wish I worked for Bungie or Microsoft right about now. I'd love to play the beta online during their test. They say they're testing new gameplay modes and the improved xbox live features. I can't wait 'till they have more movies and updates.

Woo, just 3 more years to go and I'll be able to play it on my PC.

Been there, done that. :)

Halo 2 will probably win many awards, but I have seen nothing that distinguishes the multiplayer from other games. The only thing that will make it better is polish, which remains to be seen.

Halo 2 brings absolutly NOTHING new to the FPS table. not only that but it will most likely be released after the greats come (Doom 3, HL2, STALKER). i'd rather see a Halo 2 mod done on VAVLe's Source Engine. it supports the good specular mappings and bump mapping used in Halo 2 BTW: OVERLY used i might add.

Halo 2: The Most Overhyped pile of Donkey crapped every put out in a neatly packaged game case.

Halo 2 overuses those effects to compensate for its low poly-counts. Quite an ingenious workaround for the lacking capabilities of aging hardware IMO.

All of which can be achieved with a mouse and keyboard in UT2004, and more. If there was anything actually new Bungie wouldn't have been stupid enough to keep it under the carpet and be run over by other games. It's not like them. Halo MP isn't a big deal for PC gamers. At all.

That said, locational vehicle damage is pretty nifty.

Oh indeed, so are you telling me you can steal a vehicle in Doom 3 - oh wait doom 3 has no vehicles, as far as we have seen.

And WHAT exactly does doom 3 bring to the table? good graphics? shoot zombies? wow revolutionary!!

Not to offend anyone, but I too am looking forward to the doom 3 but not in terms of revolutionary gameplay. Just to have a nice spooky experience - and that exactly isn't being brought into FPS genre for the first time.

Agreed, car jacking is an inspired idea from GTA, but how cool would it be to do it in a multiplayer with a human opponent than from a computer A.I. Not to mention in a FPS.

Sometimes games don't have to bring something new to the table - games are meant to be fun and if someone can do this without bringing new stuff (not that halo 2 doesn't have new stuff) then it works for me.

Stalker and HL2 have their own good new features - but they too aren't exactly revolutionary any longer as games are coping up with them. Still I'll buy all these games along with Halo 2.

Interesting how you only talk about D3.

I can't speak for Stalker, and we haven't seen HL2 mp unless you count the cheep and cheerful Source ports.

Thank you, now please if you don't like this game, or don't think it brings anything new to the table - don't post and change the topic to say you don't like it. Isn't it annoying enough that everyone diverts a HL2 delay topic into a "Doom 3 vs. HL2" topic already?

I'm requesting you this humbly. :D

If you don't like Halo stay out of topics about the game.

Halo 2 most importantly is going to be fun as hell, no other FPS can come close to the core combat imo.

What I said. Don't like it, then don't post - why bash it and make it a spam thread? :)

I was responding to your argument, began in the second reply.

Again it's my opinion that it most hopefully should have a lot to offer in MP, now I could be wrong, but seeing the long life of the first halo's MP I can evaluate that it might. It has the typical stuff - weak spots, hidden areas, vehicles...but these things bring players back again and again. Ut2k4 has so much to offer in MP with modes, so for the xbox user their ut2k4 would be halo 2's MP.

I never said it was a revolutionary game - see my first post.

I just said that it was a very good looking game. Just because a game isn't revolutionary doesn't mean it can't be fun :D

Halo 2 fans might not be so intrested into HL2 (only an example) because they probably like Halo's fast grenade tossing, easy shooting style better.

Oh, I though it would be revolutionary (or even a paradigm shift) in some way because everybody in the console world is really excited about Halo 2.

Call of Duty was not particularly revolutionary, but everybody was excited because the singleplayer was so immersive.

I have no reason to anticipate Halo 2, but I'm sure some do just because its more Halo.

And I'm guessing you've never played Multi-Vice City on the PC ... ?
Same thing , and you can SHOOT people as well .....
