Halo 2 for Vista screens

Not interested in this at all. The single player was boring from the first Arbiter part onwards. I had to play it in coop mode and complete it with a friend so i didnt die of boredom, even then i felt bored. I don't like the multiplayer on the xbox 360 version and they ruined Blood Gulch. I'm sure it may be better on the PC, but i'd rather play Halo PC MP tbh.

Hopefully Halo 3 will be as good as the first at least.

Why are they releasing this on PC anyway? It's a bit old and I'm sure pretty much everyone has had some kind of play of it.

QFT ...still havent finished it ..even my friend doesnt feel like finishing it

Halo 2 is such a crap game though. The story is utter crap (unlike the 1st) and the multiplayer is a cheap UT2k4 rip off.

I never completed Halo 2. Just got bored towards the end...

Its not like Dx10 is gona make games that originaly didnt use it make them look next gen...only games that are built for the actuall DX10 from the start and designed from it is gona look really good.

And how is that an excuse to make the game look bad under DX9?

Incredible... Not only did they not upgrade the graphics with the power of DX10, or EVEN keep it the same, they DOWNGRADED them! :O

OF COURSE this isn't a shallow attempt to make the Xbox consoles look more powerful than a high end PC, of course not! ;)

^ Saying that, it would be funny if the final public Vista looks like Windows 95 ;)

I don't care if the graphics still look like xbox 1 graphics. What sucks is that it's on Vista only. Not to mention that they(Bungie) was probably more worried about putting their available rescources to the development of Halo 3 than improving the graphics of Halo 2. When I get Vista, then i'll pirate Halo 2...
Fixed. D:

Keyboard vs Controller will kill the console audience unless the players segregate themselves... which will defeat the whole purpose of this cross-platform competition.

What was the reason for being Vista only?

I believe an effective version of DX10 was not possible on the Windows NT engine... Windows 2000 - Windows XP for those who don't know.. atleast, I think that is what was ran off of the Windows NT.

Halo 2 for Vista is there to help push the move to Vista.

Lots of people bash Microsoft, but they don't even understand what they are bashing.

Windows NT is old, I'm personaly glad Microsoft is building a whole new OS with a new engine. This will allow for many more things to be possible.

To a user, Windows Vista is pratically Windows XP
To a dev, Windows Vista is a big move

Considering how many people in this thread don't like the looks of it then I don't see how this going to be a reason to buy Vista.

I tend to agree. You'd be suprised how good some people are with a pad, though. I know quite a few guys who could slaughter your average pc fps player while using a pad. Of course, given the same level of skill and knowledge of a game and a mouse user will have a clear advantage.

Anyhoo, Halo was always much better on the Xbox and with a pad. I found the pc version to be quite average in comparison.

"If you’re a PC gamer who takes pride in catlike 180 degrees turns with mouse and keyboard, you no doubt mock and pity the Neanderthal console gamer capable only of twiddling two thumbsticks and mashing candy-colored buttons."
"If, on the other hand, you’re one of the aforementioned cavepersons, the good news is that the Xbox 360 controller will plug straight into your your Vista PC and operates H2V perfectly."
I love that, cuz it's so funny!
This guy is great!

As for the screens, yeah they look like crap. I doubt it will look like that on release though. Either that or they were using some craptasticular machine.

Looks like Halo 1 on the PC.

No AA, why?
If you're saying that Halo 1 for pc had no AA then you're wrong.
For me all I had to do was go into the nvidia properties and change the
settings for halo.exe to use it; making the card render that despite no
in game ability to do so.

Wow that screen does look really, really crap. Then again, the game isnt gonna be coming out for another, what, year or so? So maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions about how totally shit it's gonna be. I must admit though I've never been a huge fan of the halo series, but for some reason I really wanna go play Halo2 on my brothers 360. Might go do that now to kill some time. Purchased geometry wars earlier then played it for an hour straight before feeling like my brain had imploded. Some Tacticalish FPS should do me good.

Also on a rather OT note: Saints Row in like 5 days! :D

It's a decent timekiller.

and; :D

Respectively, of course.

Well they will have to upgrade the graphics otherwise it will look pathetic compared to the pc shooters.

It's just funny, that's why I posted it.
Read it for more serious talking about the game if you want.
I didn't post anything about that because most people here
seem to hate the game, anyways; it's there for anyone who cares.

I meant bad example as in they choose basic movement as something to jest at 'you like controllers, which SUK111, and keyboard wins' with. To be able to do a nice 180 movement on a keyboard/mouse is stupidly easy and pretty much the same as using thumbsticks.

I didn't mean it as anything to you, just the quote in general.

People will probably still flock over this product and buy vista just for it. They don't pay the guys at MS marketing to twiddle their thumbs all day.

The edges really get to me there. They need AA baad! I find it funny that it needs AA that badly yet it is a large resolution screenshot (1900x1200) which normally doesn't need much AA.
Not impressed at all. Wonder if it will be as big of a hog as Halo 1 for the PC.

I'm a huge Halo fan, despite what others think, I love Halo, Halo 2 and Halo PC, and will no doubt get Halo 2 PC :)

Who's doing the conversion to the PC? Is it Gearbox again? As far as I like Gearbox, they didn't do Halo well (graphics like in Unreal but extreme hardware reqs).

:S

Well, I couldn't get AA or AF working even thought I turned them on with the ATI Control panel...

If Gearbox makes it, you can guarentee it'll suck dick in terms of frame-rates. It'll look like a 2003 game but need 2008 specs.

If they want to revive PC Gaming, they should bring out Freelancer 2 or Freespace 3 on Vista and DX10 :p

QFT

Freelancer kicked ass, and it still has a pretty large fanbase. But Halo 2 looks pretty crappy on PC right now. But since it has like a year to release, and is apparently quite playable, it will probably get a lot of work before release. Hopefully. Regardless I already own it, so why bother?

Edit: Whoa, taking a second look at that, it looks like there is no bump mapping! Halo 2 has loads of bump mapping on the Xbox, so no wonder it looks like crap.

BULLBULLBULLBULLBULLBULLBULLBULLBULLBULLSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT

If there was an announcement that Elite 4 would be released on Windows Vista next year I'd get Vista immediatly.:)

i don't get it why windows vista,halo2 could work on a XP...

working is not the issue with MS, they WANT you to buy a brand new OS just for the game (for other things as well, but this forces you if you get it to play the game)
