Is it any good (ie. is it worth spending 800 points to buy, should I wait till spring)?

For those that dont know, Bungie released new content that consists of three new maps:

Standoff: A large, Blood Gulch like map meant for vehicles and no snipers.

Rat's Nest: A large indoor map with spaces big enough for vehicles to fit.

Foundry: The most interesting map, because of the fact that it can be wiped clean of objects so that you only have a mid-size empty hanger to mod to your hearts desire.

Anyone played it yet? And please, no "Halo sucks" stuff, I'm just looking for other Halo 3 player's opinions on the maps.

charging money for maps?

lets see

Valve: de_Port,cs_compound HL2Dm maps etc=free
Epic: UT2k4 Map Pack over 15 maps I believe=free

Halo 3 players... here!? *grabs pitchfork*

One way is to buy points to get the map pack, which pisses me off. Charging for new maps!? Retarded and such a rip-ff. But, you also have the ability to get the map pack through points earned from completing achievements, which is the obvious alternative.

Come again? Where does it say that???

I seriously doubt that is true (according to Bungie, you need to use Microsoft points).

What the hell? You have to pay to get maps? That is an outrage...

Halo fans/owners ignore this post

If they pay for multiplayer, and then pay for additional content, then WTF were they paying for when they bought the game? Just SP?

just wait til they release them for free.... like they've done with all of their map packs.

the only thing i liked about the new maps is redvsblue introducing them.

I can see where they want their money back since it cost a lot of time and money making them.

However, I'm in no rush so I'll wait until they're free.

Remember when The Ship charged money for the singleplayer and all of us went WTF? All I'm saying is that the only reason Bungie is absolved of such criticism is because it's HALO.

I stand corrected. I had a bad source telling me that achievement points can be used to purchase stuff.

I don't even care what your post was about, I just really dislike you for using that phrase in a non-ironic sense.

I'd buy these maps, maybe, if I still played Halo 3.

I can't believe people actually care about such a small price for maps that someone has taken the time to PUT EFFORT INTO. I don't care what games you compare them to that have released maps for free - I'd be willing to pay for any sort of map or level if it was to be released just because the developers deserve the credit. Sure, if it's released for free then cool, okay, I'm good with that but nine times out of ten, if I'm going to end up playing that map for months to come then what does a couple of quid or dollars matter when overall, I'm having fun?

Like Bungie said, the price of the maps is like a trip to McDonald's or the price of two coffees... or something. Seriously, this is created content done very well if you're a fan of how well Bungie does balanced multi player with the added extra bonus of giving all three of the new maps some AMAZING Forge options. Not to mention that the last map, Foundry, can be completely wiped clean for you to do whatever the hell you want with it.

Mandatory no-brains Halo-hatin' aside, the maps are great fun. I've not had proper time to have amazing games on them because I only got 30 mins play time last night and it seemed all we could find were shitty VIP games. However, we played a Multi Flag game on Standoff and it was awesome. Imagine Blood Gulch/Coagulation but a little more condensed when it comes to base-to-base fighting, but around the edges the map has a lot of space for vehicular and long range fighting. I'm having loads of fun Forging that map

Rats Nest is fun but again, all I've played is VIP and Neutral Bomb, the latter which we drew 2-2. Was damned fun but seriously, nerf VIP. Sucks. Foundry has a lot of great options but the problem with Team Slayer is that because of the tight spaces, when your team takes out all of theirs you often run around the corner into an entire wall of Blue team soldiers or something. But again, I have the tech to edit it as much as I want which I am most certainly going to be spending my time doing. Making old Halo 2 maps for Halo 3 is now possible thanks to this.

Halo sucks.

Somebody had to do it. :p

I'll probably wait untill they're free.

Ooooh.. mah mapper friend will have fun with Foundry. Hehe.. I'll be buying some microsoft points to buy this with, plus a couple of aircraft skins in AC6. I'm going to make a race course! Wheeeeee
