So, I finally got a chance to play this after brrowing it off a mate. I haven't tried out the multiplayer yet, so bear that in mind.

Pros:

  • Grunts!
  • Sexy graphics
  • Music good as always
  • vechile scenes remain the best parts (the ending driving scene is one of the best I have ever played)
  • Fun new equipment (though some of it, eg the gravity lift, is completely useless for me
  • Its the end of Halo (thank god)
  • We get to kill 343 guilty spark
  • Legendary difficulty means the game has got a long lifespan

Cons:

  • Only two grenades at once? FAIL!
  • New weapons, vechiles and armour have appeared litterly overnight
  • WTF is up with the beginning? What happened to the ending of halo 2?
  • Still retains age old flaws
  • Repetitive enviroments
  • Cheesy dialogue that makes your ears yell to be cut off. Seriously bungie, get new writers.
  • Grunts!
  • Can't play as arbiter
  • The graphics were nowhere near as good as the "ingame" trailer. GG lying Bungie.

7/10.

What are these flaws you speak of? And yeah, it's weird how the game magically gets new weapons that proliferate in such a short amount of time.

Better with new guns too fast than no new guns. It's a new game after all.

Arbiter is player 2 in coop so you can play him.

:naughty:

The atrocious dialogue, the repetitive enviroments, it generally feels average throughout the whole thing, etc.
Perhaps I was a little harsh. Perhaps it desrvered a 7. But I can't be assed to edit, so its staying as slightly above average.

I won't get into the rest, but repetitive environments? I found Halo 3 to be particularly good in this regard. The 2nd to last level is perhaps a little guilty, but that's about it.

Yeah, I played my favourite levels again, it certianly isn't as bad as the others. Still.
I updated it to 7, just because the ending sequence is the only halo section I have willingly played through again, not out of boredom, but because it was awesome.

Nobody is neccesarily saying that these guns are "new". They're new to us of course because we have never used or seen them in game before but these weapons could have still been used by both factions for years. And about the end of Halo 2, you can read up on it on Halopedia, somehow they have the story of how he got off the Forerunner ship. Although I don't know where they got this info from, they might have made it up but it sounds good enough and put my heart at rest. Bungie really need to start including more of the game's backstory in their games rather than in those damn graphic novels which can only be bought in the US! :flame:

I really want those graphic novels...torrents/ISOs anyone? ;D

Sorry for kicking the dead horse..
But i didn't want to post a new thread..

Did anyone have resolution problems with this game?
The game looked like CRAP on my LCD monitor. Any other game looks great and displays fine in HD on my LCD with the 360's VGA adapter, but this one seemed to have major resolution issues.

It quite literally looked like there was no Anti Aliasing in the game at all, and the jaggies were to the point where they were distracting.

I think it may be due to you using the 360 vga cable. The cable is only capable of outputting 480p which is then up scaled.

Any other games look great though.. Like gears of war, I have no resolution problems at all. Its just this game specifically. Mabey its time to get that HDtv :(

Anyway.. The official website says the VGA cable supports 480p, 720p and 1080i.

The last 3-4 levels are a touch repetitive but nothing too bad.

A fairly accurate review of the singleplayer (really, I thought the 10 or so bits of equipment were a bit much, the weapons and vehicles were fine).

IMO, the singleplayer is the weaker part of Halo 3, its the multiplayer that I love so much about the game.

bought the game a week ago, love it to death. Halo 2 was sort of a disappointment but they really brought the great elements from h1 with better graphics etc. Could use some more innovative stuff but all in all it's a brilliant game, great AI, great balance, the multiplayer kicks ass. Dibs on the elephant!

A fully manned Elephant is really something that people overlook on Big Team Battle, Sandtrap. With people using both turrets, plus a guy on board with rockets and a BR to fight boarders, it can take back and control the battlefield really easily. I love it. Really spices up CTF and Assault, too. I hope they release another map with them in.
