I dont have a problem with him dressing up as a nazi, or anything dressing up for a fancy dress party. We beat down the germans to keep our right to dress up like whatever we want... its a right many died to protect and im sure Harry understands that.

No seriously! If you look back in history, countries that forcibly abolish their monarchies (and how else do you do it?) get thrown into complete turmoil that takes decades to recover from. Russia and France being two prime examples.
It's an ingrained part of Britain. I don't necessarily like it, but I'd rather have them than have a whole load of violence. Well, more than usual.

They may not seem to have practical power, but sway with the people is something else. Simply getting rid of the monarchy, would upset a lot of the nation.
