Have to restart EVERY preload

Every single time there has been a preload for HL2 it has got stuck and i have had to cancel and restart. EVERY time.

Is there a fix? I'm sick of redownloading the same stuff over and over.

I'm not gonna be happy if HL2 is release and it gets stuck and I have to start from scratch with a million other people.

There aren't going to be any more pre-loads to my knowledge so I think there's nothing to worry about,

I don't know how to fix your problem though.

Not how to fix it, but how to help solve it: make a back up of the GCF files, then when it restarts next time, pause it, copy back the files and restart it, and it should hopefully recognise them and only download the additional stuff you need.

Even if you cancel it, doesn't it remember where you left off? You really should just leave it running overnight and forget about it. This is the best way to do a big preload.

cancel != pause. when you cancel, the preload is aborted, so there i nothing to remember, except "zero" perharps.

when it gets stuck, close down steam, and delete the file in steam directory called "clientregistry.blob" then restart steam, most of the time this fixes it.

Iv never had a problem with me preload. Just this last one got stuck. No need to restart tho many other ways to fix it.
