Haze. Me want!

. . . . Um. . . that's a pretty big difference, and there's more than that to shooters, there's pace and combat style and realism. I could list more but it's beside the point.

and the armor is cool. but it looks just like every other sci-fi/spacemarine/futuresoldier guy i've seen before. imo.
Mmm. Yeah theres a little more to shooters. But still the same basic principle.

And in the armors defence it's yellow.... thats a huge diffrence. :)

The only difference between Super Mario World and Half-Life 2 is the story, the graphics, the genre, the gameplay, and the third dimension.

they like to recopy all the textures over a few times to make loading times faster, I can't remember what the technique is called but it's famous for being used on PS3 because the loading times suck.

The reading speed of a BD50 is faster than a DVD-9.

Not to mention the entire game is uncompressed 7.1 sound and 1080p. It's really insane.
Erm, what exactly is "UNCOMRPESSED 1080P"?XD

Are you talking about texture size or something?

Anyway, only MORONIC people don't make use of compression for their sound files, honestly there are compressionmethods these days where you loose VERY little quality, but the size is reduced greatly..

Anyway, we all know how Kojima LOVES to 'hype' up his games :)

TBH, once we manage to crack PS3 discs etc to access the content, I wouldn't be surprised if MGS4 had a shitload of useless files poured in to make the game 'appear' to be maxing a Blu-Ray disc..

Most of the vids I saw looked kinda meh, particularly one which involved an office/apartment area with virtually zero detail but this was a pretty old vid. Haven't seen anything of it in ages yet.

Considering the fact that they're cutting down on their original features (e.g. Japanese VO's with subs), I highly doubt this is the case...

Yeah but that's about VOICEOVERS, if you noticed the guy I quoted he said uncompressed audio and uncompressed "1080p", no idea what uncompressed 1080progressive means though..:)

He was probably referring to uncompressed high resolution art assets. I don't know that this is true, but it makes sense as it would probably fill up even a BR disc pretty quickly. I assume there are technical benefits to doing this otherwise they wouldn't...

I'm sure you could've figured this out too, but you chose to intentionally misunderstand the guy in order to try and make a point.

The only thing that I could realistically see make MGS4 fill up a Blu-Ray is uncompressed audio, lets face it over 50% of MGS is cutscenes, codec convos etc.

Haze is going to kickass! Hopefully. PS3 is going to kick everyones ass.

I've been in love with Free Radical since the first Time Splitters for PS2. I can't wait to see what they have in store for this generation of consoles.

Both of the High up sony executives have quit! What does that tell you? Everything is fine? No, at best the PS3 will be this years Gamecube and next gen it will be better but I really don't see hope for it. Which is sad because I have a PS2 and like it.

Whats games are coming out for 360? Now look at the PS3 and tell me its losing...LOL

I just looked. All the games for 360 are coming out on PS3... Exept Universe at War: Earth Assault. And that will be ported to PS3 after a while. And Haze will be ported to 360. So each system has the same line up... You case isn't looking that strong one who has fallen to the PS3 dark side.

Really the only difference for keeping the PS3 from winning is price.

He meant uncompressed audio AND true 1080p, not both uncompressed.

This game didn't look to hot in some oldish vids, not really looking at it with interest.

Umm... you're making broad assumptions here. A lot of the third party titles are multi-platform (with a few notable exceptions like MGS, FF, etc.) But each platform has their own respective privately owned (or subcontracted) studios that won't make games for another system. To say that "all games for 360 are coming out on ps3" is foolish. Would Halo ever leave the Xbox / PC format? Why would God of War 3 jump ship?

You're also oversimplifying things by blaming solely the price. There are a lot of other factors at work here but it's not reasonable to go through them all.

It appears that Free Radical and GameStop are mighty confident in HAZE, that they are even allowing gamers to buy the game from GameStop/EB Games and you have a full week to return it and receive a FULL refund (in-store credit) if you don't like it.

I have to say, Free Radical albeit may not have a hype marketing machine running right now, but to place your product out like that they must be damn confident.

Anything above 256kbps for game audio is stupid and a waste of space. The human ear simply cannot differentiate between a 320kbps and 256kbps mp3. However for backups and making 1:1 copies of music CDs I wouldn't look past FLAC.

You talk as if that's a bad thing. I've always enjoyed the MGS cut-scenes, just as much as actually playing it. Hollywood should take lessons from Kojima. I must not be the only one either, considering two of Sony's most popular franchises are Metal Gear and Final Fantasy, both topping the charts for the most anticipated PS3 games. I'm sure a lot of 360 owners would love to see ports of either game as well.

They're decent but some of the conversations are unnecessarily drawn out and fairly poorly written..

I mean, I'm a huge MGS fan as people who know me knows, I bought a PS3 only to get MGS4, but lets face it, Kojima isn't exactly great at writing good conversations.:)

Remember that it's all translated from Japanese, so it's not that he's bad at "writing good conversations", but everything needs reordered to make it coherent. That being said, I've never had a problem with any of the dialogue. Sure, it may at times be confusing, but not so much as to blur the entire plot of the games. I find it is usually more clear on the second play through, just as with some movies, books, or other games.

Do you have any proof that the quality of his written convos are greatly reduced in English?

I reckon with the money Konami has they'd atleast be able to afford a decent translator..

Self owned.

Have a nice life, you silly nub.

From that list I want Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2.

I found both Killzone 1 and Resistance 1 to be fairly average games.. So hardly excited for their sequels.. And I can't stand JRPGs these days which means Final Fantasy is off from my list.

Anyway, in the end what makes one console better than the other is alot up to the individual and their taste in games.

Me, being the spoilt nerdboy that I am, own a PS3, 360 and a Wii, aswell as a high-end PC, so it's all good to me, I don't care much for these silly fanboy wars.

I can't comment on whether the actual conversations in Japanese are better than the English counterparts, but suffice to say, translating an Asian language into English is really quite hard. Certain phrases and whatnot cannot be literally translated and often requires you to completely re-phrase it in order to get a similar point across. This problem is greatly magnified when it comes to everyday conversations since there are many many phrases and words that simply must replaced entirely.

I was excited about Haze untill seeing gameplay footage. Now i'm not so bothered - it looks like it's been beaten repeatedly with the generic stick.

What, exactly, do you mean by poor quality conversations? The voice acting and delivery has always been top notch in my opinion.

HAZE IS COMING TO 360! DEAL WITH IT! As for the rest of your list I do not want. and the only ones I don't want on the 360 side are Age of Conan,
World in Conflict, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Huxley and Supreme Commander so in my view PS3 has shit compared to 360.

Scratch out God of War 3 and Final Fantasy 13 out of that list. They aren't coming out in this year.

It's coming for 360 just as much as Left 4 Dead is coming for PS3.

There has been absolutely no confirmation of this anywhere since Ubisoft announced that it will be a PS3 exclusive back in August.

And seriously, no one likes a fanboy, except other fanboys. All 3 systems have their pros and cons, and arguing about which system is better is pointless and makes you seem highly immature. If I had the money, I would own all 3 systems and reap the benefits.

Same here. But Killzone 2 looks crazy never played Killzone 1. Resistance was fun coop so i will be playing the 2nd.

I just think their are way more heavy hitters on PS3 this year.

It's coming for 360 just as much as Left 4 Dead is coming for PS3.

Well said.
