Headcrab option in multiplayer.

How cool would it be if in multiplayer you had the option of playin as a headcrab. Heres the catch.
1) You have to leap and hit the opponent in the face for a kill.
2) After a certian amount of time the body mutates and you become a basic zombie.
3) After a certian amount of tim you mutate into the advanced Zombie stage, you now are fast and have a projectile weapon.
4) You feed off your enemies corpses to regain health.

I think it would be cool. What about you? :borg:

Feeding off corpses.. sounds like ghouls in WC3

Anyway, that sounds kinda fun
 
Indeed, the idea is pretty unique me thinks. I'd give it a shot.
 
I mean imagine the thrill of not only having to worrie about gun carring madmen but headcrabs lurking around every other corner. And imagine running into a pack of them in a dark room....... Freakin scary. :eek: :eek: :eek:
 
And if your host gets killed, you just run away and find a new one.

That would be cool but you would have to jump off before the host completly dies or you "could" be invincible.
 
Well, if you, the headcrab, haven't been shot, I see no reason you couldn't jump off after the body was nonfunctional...

Alien Vs Preadator 2.

Aliens start off as face gugger.

jump on face, burst out of chest, riggle about, turn into alien, evolve into queen.


just replace the aliens with head crabs.
 
Or a headcrab/ zombie tag. The idea is that you are a marine (amongst other players), and your faced with zombies and headcrabs. If a headcrab latches onto you, or if the zombie strikes you with its claws, your dead, and your turn into one yourself (You would be able to control it but you would have to attack other marines). To make sure the game doesn't finish before it even begun, AI controlled zombies and headcrabs are spawned at a slow rate, and then more and more come through.

Good point BD, it would also make players want to increase their accuracy to get those much needed headshots. That or you have a pissed off Headcrab jumping off a corpse onto you. :cheese:

I think it would be better if "you" started as a Headcrab, because with my expirence you can always find gaps or patterns in AI. A human's random thinking would make things much more intresting.

The headcrabs and zombies will be both full of AI and human controlled characters at the start then, and your mission is to make more people join your side
 
or you could just play natural selection
 
the idea is pretty close to Aliens Vs Predator 2 mp, where u start as a facehugger and u have to latch onto a marine to become a basic baby alien, then you have to hide it out till you turn into a drone etc.

infact thats a complete rip of avp 2, even down to killing to regain health. still methinks thats not a bad thing, that mode was one of the most fun in avp2 and i'd like to see it return in HL2 where the netcode is actually decent.
 
I’m surprised I haven’t thought of this before. It would be very interesting to play as a headcrab especially if you include some scenes from the original game.

I think this would be really lame if it was just team 1 vs team 2 and both teams has normal people with guns and head crabs.

i yast think that you should put in a lot of AI Sientsis going around not knowing of the head crabs.

Scientists as bots that provide ready hosts for sneaky headcrabs. Maybe the human side could try and keep the scientists from being crabbed.
 
A variation on CS' hostage rescue, where the Marines have to keep them safe from the cunning headcrab insurgents. Although it would suffer from players camping the access points unless the AI controlled scientists could wander freely and go about their normal business, not letting the military "interfere" with their work. If the Marines do agood job the scientists could develop some bonus for the next round, better weapons or something similar, to give the mod some kind of longevity beyond the individual rounds.
 
very cool, reminescent of AVP2 in a good way ( I know I would like to play it)
and as zLack said, Scientists are a must but should be player controled (preferably with melee weapons if the netcode allows)

in other words, straight up Headcrabs vs scientists using melee weapons (or using HL2's extensive physics system, and using any nearby object as a weapon)
 
Hmmm, that idea wouldn't be tooooo hard to mod now would it?

obviously too hard for an idiot like me, I'm just sayin' is all.

what if 2 teams in two seprate rooms with (limited) tons of ammo supply and outside are some non-stop respawning headcrabs, and in 30 mins the teams are going to shoot outside the windows, and the team kills more headcrabs wins :D

Or a "hide and seek"-game with a headcrab. The headcrab must hide itself and the other guys must find the headcrab in 2 minutes or so.


.... sounds already lame......

the only problem i see with headcrabs as being player controlled is that they are very slow unless they are jumping. perhaps if we got to play as the rumored flying kind it would equal out the playing field or if we got to play as the normal kind only the maps were dark and had lots of hiding spots.

also its kind of hard to play as a zombie considering that you are slow as molasses. therefore i think they should get tons of hitpoints when hit in the body and a slight speed increase.



it would be awesome if there could be a night of the living dead type scenario where the humans were holed up in a bunker and each one had 1 life while the headcrab zombie players had infinite lives and had to bust into the human building by tearing through boarded windows. If the humans survived within a certain amount of time they would win, if the headcrab zombie players killed them all, they won

the humans could reboard the windows and had lots of weapons with tones of ammo
 
or you could just make different species of headcrabs that move faster, like classes
 
good idea

oh, i forgot to mention

back in hl1 i would use the console to spawn like 200 headcrabs and like 3 marines in large areas have invisibility and invisibility on and then watch the mayhem ensue as the marines were slowly overrun
 
My idea:


1/10 players will start as a HCs (Head Crabs)
9/10 Players will start as humans
When 8/9 Humans are turned to zombies the round restarts
the 1/9 get some reward and are turned in to the "starting HC".


One problem though... if the 1/9er camps... :dozey:
 
you guys are aware your just talking about a skulk in NS? rofl
