Vivendi, if you release November 23rd i won't be buying retail.

If you manage to release late October or November 1st i will buy retail.

I've not abandoned all faith in Vivendi just yet....they have one chance to redeem themselves. But if they deliberately choose to hit that November 23rd date to cash in on the Christmas period i will boycott all Vivendi published games in the future and will buy Half-Life 2 through steam. I will badmouth Vivendi every chance i have like i do to EA games.

Your brand image will suffer as i spread an endless tirade about your company and so will all other individuals unhappy about the deliberate holding back of the game. Extract your heads from your capitalist rectums and release the game ASAP.

I am a consumer whore and i have the power!! NOW WHO'S WITH ME?

DAmn! I always make retarded grammatical errors in the questions lol.

Hahah, upon reading the topic title, I thought of Morpheus in the Matrix Reloaded "ZION! HEAR ME!"

the first two poll options are essentially the same thing. make an option for us steam only buyers!

lol i need to edit them !!

GIVE ME EDIT POWERS!

Anyway, the point is at one time you have to get angry about this. Some people just sit around month after month totally apathetic to the release date status of Half-Life 2. They wouldn't care if it was delayed till 2007 they just sit around content with sitting around.

It's an attitude i totally despise and i want to see more people actually concerned about getting the game ASAP!! I know i can't force people to think in a certain way...but by God man ...if there's a time to protest it's now!

The jig is over Vivendi , gold now!!

I think the poll you meant to make was this:

Will you change your method of purchase from retail to Steam if Vivendi doesn't release HL2 until late November?

Yes.
No.
I'm already planning on purchasing through Steam.

retail no matter what ... i dont care how lame vivendi is ... i want the box

I would buy from steam, but I won't have a credit card for another 4 months or so. I have no choice but to buy retail :|

/me cries

maybe you'll have your card by the time it comes out... :p

Im busying steam.. dont care when VU bring it out, bring it out tommrow and I will still buy steam, not cus I give a flying shit about all the "VU suck" stuff happaning now, I just dont care about having CDs.

i really can't see why they won't listen to us. most of the people here(and they aren't few at all) have a big influence on their friends and relatives when it comes to giving advice about computers and games. so if a huge portion of the hl2.net community boycotted retail (unless they can't buy it off steam) then that would make an impact even if it turns out to be small.

I say if it turns out that vivendi wants to delay the game for their own agenda we rally the troops and marsh on.

p.s I've always wanted to be part of an uprise:naughty:

I've pre-ordered the CE, I really want it soon.

This is just turning into a big mess now.

I see no reason for them to hold it back till holiday season. Sure, they'd be making a lot of money then, but I think they'd still be making the same amount of money regardless, maybe even more.

If you buy from steam cant you still ask them to send you the CD's/DVD in the mail?

long time ago someone from valve (either Gabe or Doug) said that u can ask for the cd if u buy from steam. can't find where it was but i'm sure about it. what i'm not sure about is if this is still the case, and whether there will be a charge for this service (most likely).

Does it all really matter that much??... Yes Vivendi have disgruntled many people, as has Valve, either way you will buy HL2 in some shape or form... unless you are stingy and go to Singapore and get a pirated copy, THOSE OF YOU WHO DO DESERVE TO DIE!!!....

Anyway, I just want to hand over some money to someone and start playing...

Are you from Singapore too? Same as I :p
Anyways, it's been 2 weeks already and still no news, damn those Vivendi frogs.

If you add up all the people here and all the people we directly influence in buying hl2, I would be surprised if we accounted for even 1% of sales in the first week. I wouldn't exactly call this a small forum, but compared to all the people buying hl2 I think it is a relatively small number.

Dougy you're a troll in the purest sense of the word.

You come in here, insult someone, then just leave.

Come back a week later, insult someone again, then leave.

You don't take part in comunity discussions, you just raise your head every now and then to abuse someones opinion, or just to be an asshat.

Do you have suicidal tendencies? You seem to have a lot of anger issues. You don't contribute anything SEMI-meaningful or helpful to the forum. You do nothing but pointless trolling and pointless commenting.

GG Dougy.

yea it could be a small number, but if this thing was organised between many of the fansites the impact will be greater. this will only be a serious thought if vivendi decides to delay the game for way more than nescessary.

I think I'm with Mr-Fusion on this one too. Even though I don't have a PayPal account or a Visa ;( Vivendi is starting to get annoying.

I don't think they care if you bad mouth them... you bad mouth EA but they are still ridiculous successful.

I'm probably gonna buy retail even if they delay it 4 more months...

EA Sucks :)

p.s. i dont think this will effect VUs decision, the sales gains from the christmas period will outweigh any loss in sales via hardcore gamers switching to Steam.
VUG: "SHOW ME THE MONEY"

Shh don't tell them that!

ohh crap

I suppose you're right though.

OK guys the battle is lost.

"HAVE YOUR WAY WITH ME VIVENDI!! I AM YOUR WHORE!!"

We should all be buying over steam anyway! Why would you want to give all your money to dirty, greasy publishers like Vivendi, when you could be giving it straight to the developers? Besides, online distribution is the way of the future, you're going to have to learn to live without boxes sooner or later... might as well be now. :p

I don't mave Visa nor Mastercard, so it's retail for me.

I'm with Mr-Fusion on this one, only because I can't take my eyes off the old pappy in his avatar...
