I wanted to say that i have nothing against mods at all,BUT when the game dosent even ship with MP and its up to the modders to make the mp...well that is gonna stir some shit up.
Most online games genreally have MP in it and from THERE the mod community takes over to create awhole bunch of mods.

But to my knowledge no other game have been released with pre-made mp support just so that modders can make the rest...
To me that sounds LAZY.
The game took 5 years to make and you implented MP functions in it to make the modding easier... but why dont make a fully working MP but with maybe just one map and one gametype?
I just dont get it...

You give the mod community a half done mp?

Now,if this REALLY was a sp game althogether like MAX PAYNE where NO mp whatso ever is included i could have understand, but thats not the case here.

So basically what is happening now is that we will probably see 10 different regular MP mods within the next month or so and from there each of us have to go through them all to find the most popular one or the one with most players... and the sad part is,some will choose mp mod number 3 and some will choose mp mod number 5 etc... so you will have a spread mp community.
Just like with reular mods for games that already had MP as an option.. like HL1... there you dident have to FIRST choose a MP mod...no you could go directly to the mod of your liking weather it was a WW2 mod or a futuristic mod etc.

So what im saying here is... release a fully functionale MP part and from there let the mod community begin.
OR remove the half-done mp part you sent and call it a SP game.

Right now its a SP game with intentions on becoming a mp game... ???...weird Valve, very weird.

You must be the first game company in history that release a sp game with SOME mp parts in it for the mods to pick up where you left it.

Am i wrong?

ps. dont reply with "but HL2 IS a sp game" or "CS:S is the mp part"... yes we all know that and thats not my point.. my point is(for all you that are a bit slow):
WHY did Valve include just bits of the MP? when they could have Released one map and one gametype... or just include full MP but not as an option other for modders that knew how to do?

Right now they are somewhere inbetween..and im wondering why?

thx for reading and please comment.

whats your point?
seriously people keep on bitching about this stuff.
if you don't like how they didn't include a hldm with the game and call cs the mp portion of hl2, then dont think of css as part of hl2, just think of hl2 as a purely sp game.
The reason that cs was made mp is because it's miles more popular than hldm.

Look at it this way, people who don't like css whine and bitch about valve not making a hldm2 but included css as mp, i didn't like hldm in the first place but you dont see me whining about them making a mp portion that i didn't like. you see?

anyways, in short people should just stop whining about it, they included mp in the engine to accomodate mods because mp = long life

Im not whining here mister hostile.
This is Exactly my point.. they included some part of the MP for the mod community, but WHY?
Why not include a fully coded finished mp for the modders(not seen in the menu as a mp part but for the modders to make their work easier)to start on,instead they make it HARDER for the modders.
And we will probably see 10 different MP mods scattered on different servers... and from there you got modders working on total conversions on different MP mods made in the first place.

See my point?

And then we will most likely see this scenario:

Instead of having ONE official mp mod all the Total conversion modders have to:

A) make their TC mod from scratch..this means build the entire MP first..and then start with the TC itself.

B)Take one of the existing MP mods out there to build their TC mod on.

Alternative B is easier for them and they probably can have their TC mod out within a year.
BUT the people wanting to play their TC mod first have to download the apropiate MP mod that their TC mod is built on.

Alternative A is harder and will have their TC mod released within 2 years, but the good part is that people only need their mod to play it online.

yes, but the fact is that valve could just have released hl2 as a purely single player game.
If people find what valve have done to be a hindrance, then they wont mod for the source engine.
and i personally dont see the problem in spreading out the mp community, cuz then hopefully you dont get games like cs which pulls a lot of people to the game, many of them arrogant little kids.

You ARE whining, and I know you said not to say it, but CS:S -IS- the multiplayer component, no matter what you think of that decision, thats the way it is.
And isnt the MP code on CS:S "finished"? I excpect modders will be able to use that to make any HL2 themed multiplayer or any other multiplayer for that matter.
And where the hell is the "half-done" mp code? I know that you can make a HL2 deathmatch game thats really buggy, but i think its the CSS mp code that people are going to use.
I dont get it, you say they put in SOME, unfinished MP? I say you dont know what the f* your on about.

So you want HL2 mods on the CS:S engine?
Becuase CS:S engine and HL2 engine arent exactly the same.. HL2 engine is more complex.
Half-done MP code=no player models,no hit detection,no naimations,no maps,no sounds,no chat,no vgui,no scoreboard,no gametypes etc etc..
Im not whining here.. im speculating.. so i guess you dont know what the f* your on about either.. "mate".
