Well.. since I've had my new monitor my graphics have been playing up..

I get random spikes sticking out everywhere across my screen.. it's really annoying..

I did take lots of screen shots of ep2 but it doesn't save them like ep1 does ?_?

So here's my last one.. I've just done the antlion tunnels bit.. and when all the antlions were coming from all four tunnels every antlion had a giant spike coming off one of their legs..

I have a Radeon x1900GT

I had the same exact problem with the same exact card and I never solved the issue but it's something to do with the construction of the card.

Here's a screenshot of one of my problems.

I ended up getting an 8800GTS. :D

I think it's more likely to be an overheating problem.

Yeah mine does that on tf2 too.. usually to window sills and stuff..

Just cleaned it all out..

You've got the newest drivers I assume? If you plug your old monitor back into the card, does it go away?

Yeah have latest drivers..

And don't have old monitor to test it on.. it was Shippi's, so it's back at her house..

LOL looks like everyone's getting 8800 GT, you should get one too, I've had mine for over a year now and I'm very happy with it.

Bah, I don't have ?160sih lying around..or I would :P

I could try going back to my old card.. but that will probably explode XD

It does somewhat look like artifacting as a result of the vRAM being too hot. Here's something you could try:

Download ATITool. The main screen will looks like this:

Slider.jpg

I've circled the slider you want to lower, so lower that by 50 and hit "set clock" and see if the issue goes away. If not, try lowering it by another 50. Make sure you do this without the game running. If you still get artifacting, it could mean that either your GPU cooler is broken or the card is faulty.

Ok, cheers Sedako ^_^

==edit==

Ok it works better so far.. still does it but not as bad.. may just be the area I'm in..
Lowering it again :P

=edit 2==

Ok it seems to run A LOT better with the thing down by 100, only one spike and that was after the giant fight with tunnels, lights and vortigaunts ^_^ SO I think it may be working ok now ^_^

Well it seems to be playing fine...
But random things like this are appearing..
and disappearing ...

And I've had a blue panel of wood on a wall.. still had the wood texture and picked up bullet holes.. but was blue ...

But meh it beats giant spikes everywhere XD

The random weird stuff that happens to you isn't as bad as it was for me before I got my video card replaced. The worst was in Stalker. Weird wtf stuff:
- polygons extruding wildly from the weapons in my hand, so bad that I couldn't even see where I was going.
- random multicolored rainbow textures
- random soldiers/monsters with polygons extruding all the way to the edges of the map.
- crazy grass having epileptic seizures at the slightest gusts of wind.
- Lightning storms with multicolored polygons instead of lightning.

I also have this same card, and I also have this problem (That's 3 for 3, ATI...). It is not a heat problem. My card does not even get hot. It is just a faulty card. If this bothers you like it bothers me because I can't play ProStreet, think about getting a new card.

Reason I know it isn't a heat problem (though heat definitely causes more symptoms) is different games have different problems. ProStreet is straight unplayable. CSS has random glitches like walls popping out, boxes being deformed and people's guns extending across the map lolhax. Sometimes the glitches are advantageous.
Other games do not exhibit any problems.

Not by much, you do know that not everything and every player is rendered at all times, right? Though I guess you could see a guy about to come around a corner.

Bah.. well if it goes really spiky again or totally screws up I'll go back to my old card :P my Radeon x800gt

I remember when walls were rendered with no textures allowing me to see straight through. That was awesome. :P

Seeing through boxes and seeing AKs from across the map had me convincing people I haxored for a day.

I've helped a friend deal with this same issue. It's overheating. Make sure the fan is working, get a dust remover and spray off the fan and GPU. If that doesn't work pop off the side and point a small fan toward the card. If that doesn't work turn the AC way down in your house.
