Hi Res GMAN video.

yea it's xvid codec, but i used my xvid program to change it to divx codec thus fixing some problems i had with it

the frames don't skip as much and the lipsinking is better, but it's not perfect or anything

yes i changed the codec of the video because i needed to compress it to fit on my webspace.

do not worry tho, at this very moment im making secret arrangements on uploading the entire video in its original form. watch this space.

And if you need someone to mirror it, i'll gladly do it.

well I hope valve pushes out the binks some time soon, pcgamer must have had to mess and cut the videos pretty seriously to fit them on there disk.

they probly only made it that high detailed for this particular video. i garauntee you in game will not look that good.
Look at the latest answer in the Valve thread. those number of triangles for 1 head sounds about right.

you nerds. that wasn't cool. wtf???

It's only the intro sequence to Half-Life 2 the first thing we'll see when we play the game for the first time how can It not be cool?

You guys, just download these:

http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=e3_movies

They are the absolute highest-res videos of HL2 available. It looks like you are playing the game, not watching a video. There is no need to scourge around for good videos, when these are right here! Sure they are old, but they are ohh so attractive!

Think there is an issue with the audio, the lip-snycing if off. Last year's Bink of the G-Man had flawless lip-syncing with the speech.

Thanks though. Now rip the rest.

So Valve has Binks of HL2 from E3 2004 but they aren't sharing... :(

yea, i forgot you've played the game.

and its not like we havent seen it already in game. e32k4, in the apartment, the faces look amazingly realistic. the gman is just up close, thats y we can see the details so well.

From the Valve thread...
Look at the second question...

Subject: LOD in HL2

Hi Mr Ellis,

Juste 2 quick questions about the LOD in Half-Life 2...

How does Source know when it's time to switch between models with differents LOD ?

It is based on the distance to the player or by the capacity of the computer to render it ?
If I have a faster computer, does the LOD will change when the object is further ?
*** Yes it's based on distance from the player. The upper level LOD is determined by the hardware capabilities, then the fall off is fixed from there.

And in the E3 2004 demo, at the beginning, when we see a close-up of the G-Man,
the head look very detailed.

Does the model was a special meshe (with hi-res normal-mappings, more detailed textures and maybe more polys) done just for that shot, or if I get close enough in the game, I'll see as much details ?
*** Our characters are very detailed. You should be surprised if you get up very close to HL2 characters how well the faces look.

The video play well for me.

Its hard to believe its the same actor who do the voice for the GMan and Barney !

a couple of months ago i remember a guy posting a link to the full e32k4 hl2 video in dvd quality, that he got from some magazine. it was that good a quality.. that is probably an extract from there. nothing special. (o and the video was synched well)

I hope they have a dream section in HL2 (it would be something like a cut scene in a normal game), where Valve can show off the full potential of the engine without it killing our hardware :)

Sync is ok here, nothing wrong with it. Only thing I don't like in the video is, that when you HEAR the GMan breathing in, his mouth is closed. That's a bit weird, rest is great!

Uh, nose?

To be honest, I found that to be quite boring.

Anyone with audio synching problems or frameskipping try DivX player if you have it. I had those problems until I stopped trying to play it using WMP.

That was me :) It certainly wasn't DVD-quality, the people at PC Games just used a better camera then the people at Gamespy.

Listen between "So wake up, Mr Freeman" (BIG BREATH) "Wake up and... smell the ashes", he is definately not breathing in through his nose :)
