The temps on my AMD 2500+ Barton core, stock everything, hasn't been overclocked..YET, are a bit high methinks.
CPU temp is 53 degrees, while System temp is 35 degrees.
If i end up overclocking it, (maybe to a 3200+ (200x11)), i'l be buying a Aero 7+, but should i be concerned at these temps?

This temp is idle and under load, it just instantly shoots up to 53-55 degrees about 2 minutes after turning my PC on.

Well for idling that is high.

What mobo are you using? What are you using to check the temps?

How's your case airflow? What is your room temp?

ok, my mobo is a MSI K7N2. The pc is upstairs in my room, but its not that hot (i'll check exact temp).
i have a fan at the front of the case, and an extra one under the psu.
I'm going to de-clutter my case soonish ditch the ide cables for round cables, and just tie all the other cables back.
It is a bit concerning, especially when my mate have OC his 2500+ to 3200+, and is getting temps under ful load at 46 degrees.(He's using a stock fan, just a copper heatsink.)

Thanks for the help.

Is he also on a K7N2? If not either his or your mobo could just have a crappy heat sensor, or the temp measurement could be off for some other reason.

yam na you'll want an exhaust fan.

a general rule fans is that you will want to have an equal and opposite fan to keep the cold air flowing in and the hot out.

so if you have 1 in, you need 1 out at the back.
my set up:

2 in front, 2 out back
1 in side, 1 out top

adding 1 fan to the back will help out.

you can buy one for like 5 bucks.

The heat sensing program i use is called PC Alert 4, came with the MSI mobo. Cause if its that hot now, when i Overclock it, even though i'l buy a new Fan (Aero 7+, or Thermaltake Volcano 11+) i don't want it to be to hot to OC.

Temp in my room is fairly cool
I turned the pc on this morning, it was freezing in my room, and after 5 minutes of my pc being on the temp was up to 53-56 degrees, while the sys temp was 30 degrees. It will die in summer

You sure your heatsink is on correctly? ALso, try checking the temps in motherboard monitor 5, ratehr then the software that came with the mobo.

Damn dude, you must have installed your HSF incorrectly, my idle is about 34-36C and load never goes above 40-42C, your temp is indeed high.
I suggest you buy some AS3 + SLK800A + SFII and you'll be a happy camper.

A mate built it for me, i'm 99% sure he installed the HSF propley, cause he works at a computer store and can to it with his eyes closed.
I'll install MBM 5 and let u all know the results.

Should the Sys temp and CPU temp be similar, cause there is a 20 degree difference between the two with mine

Bobo it cant be as bad as your old duron, where the fan went. Haha the computer would die and you wondered why you couldnt turn it on for like an hour.

it personally sounds like crappy thermal paste connection between the cpu and the heatsink...

hahah, Habib, remember the good ol Duron 700, what did the temp for it get up to on MBM, over 70 degrees or something.
Then i took it to CPL and the heatsink on my Gfx card fell of, and the guy didn't know what it was. hahaha. God that place is dodgey.

Well, i installed MBM, the two heat sensors show 33 degrees (for sys i think) and the other one shows 42 degrees (i reckon that my real CPU temp). Maybe PC Alert was jsut giving crap reading.

Yes I have the same prob as you Bobo. My Bios says 50 while sandra and mbm5 say 33.

Anyways, you should get a real temp reader.

its ok but the temp sensor on mainboard isn't. Mbm will lie but always it will says the same lie. So, you have to know how much it is lying and add a compensate integer to it. Mind is always -15 celcius.

this is a regular problem of mainboard.
