Highway 17 Battery (mild location spoilers)

I've finished the bridge section, and driven further up the road to an outpost with a rickety gate made out of corrugated iron and other scrap metal.

There're three battery slots in the shack, and I can swap the one battery between them- what do I do to open the darn gate?

I just shot the buggy over the barrier with the gravity gun

there is one up on the windmill thingy. u can shoot it off with the bow easily.

You can also make a sort of ramp out of stuff lying around. Someone in the hlfallout forums mentioned doing that.
