Haha i like :D

The whole Freeway/Earth demolition thing however looks to be played out a little different from what i imagined, but what the hell, looks great.

And they're yellow! Maybe the ships in the trailer were yellow, too, I dunno, I'm colourblind. :p

And I didn't get the feeling that they hung in the air exactly the way bricks don't. ;)

I thought the way the ships sat around Earth like that was pretty good, different atleast, kinda.

yeah I liked the way the ships were just hanging there

heh I can't wait to see this, it looks like it's gonna be good.

I gotta read the books again first tho :p

hehe yeah i think i should read it again too :E

When i'm finished with the Robert crais collection, i might just sit down and read it again. Should be fun.

There was no romance in the book, but brilliant comedy I would say. The book rules, but I will just have to wait and see how they develop the movie. Maybe it's good maybe it's bad I dun oo I got to see it.

lol, yeah, the price has gone way up i think. Your talking around £7 for a total of 6. Or more, i havn't gotten out much latley :(

When's the release date, anybody?

This summer isnt it? Says on the trailer but I forgot lol.

But yeah, price of booze went right up, I think you'd probably be lucky to get six pints for £7 these days :(

I'll have to watch the trailer again.

Too true, which is a dam shame, some of the prices can be really ridiculous.

heh yeah. I'm glad I can go quite easily without booze, prices are just silly.

i lvoe that trailer :p

specially the constelation of the number 42 in the bit where they show the logo!

Doubt it's gonna change either, except go higher. Not that i would bring myself to buy 6 pints in the first place, no matter how cheap they were. Hrm, actually, price wise, it depends :p

I feel sorry for those who have a craving for it, their money must sap away :(

If the comedy is as good as the book, I'm sold.

Anyone see the original tv series? Only went up to the restaurant at the end of the universe though... I think.

Is this movie only the first book, or more?

I think the movie might try cram in a lot, depends if they have plans for a second one or not.

I had one of them. Now I need a re-habilitation center, I've got a gold brick with a lemon wrapped around it inside my skull.

.... Ahem, anyway.
I don't like where they say "Hyperspace Express". I prefered it in the book as "Hyperspacial Bypass". That sounded much cooler, and it's correct on the blurb.
I don't like Zaphods extra head at the moment, I don't like the way the Vogons look, I expected them to be less fat... They look like *******s relatives.

Also, there are a lot of other discrepancies I don't like (I was a HUGE fan of the book, and I cherish it like I would my children), and I think they (Even if it was Douglas' doing) really should keep it the same as the book. So what if the majority won't like it? The book readers, and ultimately, the people this film was made for in the first place, would get the biggest enjoyment out of it.

but that's just me.

yeah but its hollywood and all comes down to money, even if it means pissing off the loyal fans

course it could end up being better than the book, look at BSG, that annoyed all the loyal fans, and most have now said the new one is far better.

The only thing I consider to be a little weird for me right now is the way Marvin looks. I don't know why but I always imagined him being a much skinnier grey/dull looking robot without such a large round head. More like a really dull and depressed looking C3PO. Other than that I suspect I can live with everything else.

I think Marvin looks good, didn't like him at first but the look is growing on me.

I wanna see the guide properly though!

I could use the same argument and say that the film isn't consistent with the radio series, which was before the books and quite a bit different. :p The film is just like the books, game, TV and radio series in that it's very much it's own incarnation of hitchhiker's guide, and was never meant to be consistent with anything else.

I want a marvin manequin or stuffed fluffy doll-a-like.
Yeah, I still can't wait for THHG to come out in our local cinema, but I think I won't like it as much if Disney did a piss-poor job of remaking the best books in my collection.

A little off-topic but one thing I always thought would be really cool would be an MMORPG of the THHG. The way the universe was layed out in the books would make it perfect as a really weird MMORPG. Naturally the guide would itself would be something that everyone would own and would probably use a heck of alot of the time.

Too bad anyone who decides to make it would probably screw it up. :(

It would be cool IN THEORY, but can you imagine how it would be in reality, the same old problem of an MMORPG based in a popular universe, everyone using the same types of names and would fall foul of the same problems every MMORPG has, the idiots and the snobs, the idiots who don't know what to do and spoil it for others, the snobs who think they know all about it word for word and if you make just the smallest mistake they treat you like so much dirt.

a single player RPG could work though :D

Hehe like the Text adventure:
You are now lying in the dirt...
(Left)
You wriggle left out of the dirt. The bulldozer crashes through your house. Game over.
(Screw off)
.... No....
(Use Multi-haxx)
Multi-haxx engaged. Where would you like to go?
(End of game)
You are at the end of the game! CONGRATULATIONS!!

:afro:

lmao!

yep that pretty much covers how it would be hehehe. A single player version would be really cool though, same universe and story so you could play it like it is or just go off and do your own thing aswell. Like a HHG version of morrowind :)

Now that would be decent, actually. I would especially think it would be cool if the game had loads of different planets you could hitch to (Say, you were given 10 space-pounds or something) and meet things, like the Ravenous Bug-blatter beast of Traal thing :). don't forget your towel!

Uh....I have to actually point out that they did make a text-adventure series based on the Guide, and it had quite a following. Was a long time ago now though.

as long as the movie has the marvin vs frogstar tank i'm happy

That was included in the book Restaraunt At the End of the Universe. The movie isn't following a lot of the book anyway, so its still entirely possible.

you mean they won't make the entire series? :'(

I know they'd like to, but aren't promising anything at the moment.

Good point. The thing that makes it the same is that it is slightly different.

Yeah I know there was one made, which is why I said at the top "Like THE Text adventure". It's actually been put online now in Java, and that's where I played it. Very hard though.

...Watching... now...playing... trailer... 42....42.....42....damnit...How many roads must I walk down before I get this damn thing... Oh wait that was fake... Damn mice.... I'll get em... If only I could learn to fly.... fall and miss... 42..... Sofa... Fluxuations.... 42....42.... Depressed.... Sorry for the inconvenience....

The film looks like it'll be really amazing. i cant wait for it to come out :D

Got it working after a restart. It's pretty funny how they did it, ask the guide what a trailer is, haha.

 That trailer's loads better. Nice to see Douglas Adams's feel is not lost to the movie makers. :D
