HL 2, Counterstrike

I just bought HL 2 about a week ago, the game looks awesome, but I'm bored of it. It seems that CounterStrike Source is what I actually paid for being as it's the game I play from the package. I'm stuck in half life 2 at a part where I just got a stupid crowbar, and am being chased by gun toting guards. Needless to say, after being killed numerous times, I just stopped playing. It's no fun being killed over and over and over again. I don't want to cheat, but I'd have already put in a god code if I knew one just to get past that part. I'm sure it really is good. CounterStrike is a blast though. Everyone is always saying how realistic it is. BS, there's no cone of fire in CS, your bullets fly straight as long as you don't hold down the button on an automatic weapon. Fun game, but this has NOTHING AT ALL on Sony's PLANETSIDE. Now that's a game that is like Virtual Crack to a game player. Give that one a shot.

What part....Its not that hard, try changing the settings down to easy or something. I'm sure if you planned it properly, and didn't launch straight into it, you might be ok.

There are a lot of things you can get flamed for on this forum. Calling Gabe a fat bastard, calling VALVe thieves, telling people Gordon is gay, nagging on about how the sims own half-life and half-life 2 etc etc etc.

But you... you insulted the crowbar... :flame:

Nah, seriously, just keep tryin', it ain't that difficult, who knows you might love it.

Ok so in summary:

1. Game is too hard, cry.

2. Bullets shoot straight, that's not realistic.

3. I would rather pay to play on crappy netcode than play the most popular FPS of all time for free.

Check. Mate.

yep, maybe you just suck?

Not that I read your whole paragraph, don't like big blocks of text like that.

If you can't beat that, I don't think gaming is for you.

some peolpe should have never been born. I mean i can a game be boring i ur stuck in the first Level... jeez

hehehe, dude you're stuck at the very beginning! :D

did you ever think that, you know, maybe you're not supposed go kill every guy with a pistol that you can find? how about finding your way out of the place and advancing?

Er....is this guy for real?!?

I agree that dying continually isn't fun but....dying just after getting the crowbar? How? Are you sure you're going the right way? Maybe charging into oncoming fire isn't the best tactic if you enjoy life!

Just a suggestion.

Hmm. That part sure is probably the most difficult part of the game. I mean, you have to _walk_ across a trainyard. Geez, I would piss my pants even for thought of this.

No seriously, this dude´s a troll, right?

Take a look at the HL Fallout walkthrough in case you're going the wrong way.

Edit: And what's with the flames? He's just posting his problem getting through the game.

I really hope you aren't serious...I played through the game on hard without dying until WH. It isn't difficult. At all. In fact, probably one of the easier FPS I've played, not including Return to Castle Wolfenstein.... both fun none-the-less.

Stop acting like dicks, seriously.

Your not supposed to fight the Combine, your supposed to run past them and use the surrounding (objects), as defence.

why dont u look whats on the screen and then actually think of what u are doing?

:cheese:

lmao... I HATED planetsides "cone of fire" it literally was a freaking cone, the bullets would fly out at 90 degree angles. I use planetside as an example of BADLY DONE recoil systems in games in my arguments.... you like that more than HL2 and CS? seriously? o_O

(for example of a really GOOD recoil system see Red Orchestra mod for UT2004)

Infact your arguments... and your situation... being stuck at the very beginning of the game... ...dying at that part of the game... and... well.... seriously I think we have a troll.

Or someone just got stuck at the beginning at the game and wants help because he's "sure it really is good".

Drop down, look left. Take a path through the trains. Jump in the box car, climb the ladder and jump across the fence.
It's pretty easy if you are not trying to fight off the combine that you can't reach. ;)

Im wondering how the hell you find your elementary school classes without getting lost and crying.

There are 3 problems with your post

1. You're whining because you're too stupid to get through one of the easiest parts in the game.

2. You whined about CS:S and how guns shoot straight. Guess what, that's what they do in real life.

3. Planetside sucks

Yeah I'm right, you aren't. Die.

This could quite possibly be one of the dumbest threads ever posted on halflife2.net ..

You bought the game a week ago...and you're about 5 minutes into the game...and you're bored/stuck....wtf??

Even in Anticitizen one you must be a major pacifist :p

1. Go to options => Keyboars => Advanced; select "Dev Console" options.

2. In game, hit the ~ key.

3. Type: sv_cheats 1

4. Type: god

5. And if really stuck, type: impulse 101

But I would first suggest playing on EASY. The game is not that hard, so if you are having problems it means you need an easier FPS experience. Easy should do the trick.

Have fun... and do beat the game, well worth it! Much better than CS:S (which is not to bad itself).

Yeah, it's bewildering me too. I think this wins the "Help HL2 am stuck!!" award for saddest in-game situation.

Why do you need cheating... come on!

....stupid......CROWBAR? Have you gone mad???!?!?!?!

The original poster asked about God mod and he is obviously having a problem in a spot. While I do not recommend cheating to beat good games, I think cheating and progressing is better than being stuck and dieing left and right to only end up stop playing the game and never beating it. I did not use any cheats before I beat the game (I cheat like crazy now just to have fun in SP), but not everyone is going to be great at FPS. Anything to get him progressing and enjoying the game is worth it, because we all play to have fun :)

Yes but he claims he plays CS:S and Planetside... online games are alot more frantic and alot harder on the player than the first part of HL2... even on the hardest setting.

If he can play and enjoy these games (ie: not dying every single round in the first few seconds /having to respawn every minute)...then surely to goodness he can master the first bit of armed combat in HL2?

The first time I did that bit I wasn't quite sure of where to go, I hadn't taught myself to use shift yet to sprint around yet, I looked around for a gate or something... so I *must* have been shot a fair few times. I still didn't die, and in all honestly I was playing completly crap...

Now unless he is running up to these guards and trying to crowbar them in the face, I don't quite see how he can be failing it unless he truly can't yet master the control system of an fps yet or something... in which case the control systems of both planetside and CS:S would give him equal pain, and possibly a hell of alot more frustration due to the equal health/damage ratios, and harsher human opponents.

This is how I came to the conclusion that we either have a troll, who simply posted this to rile people up - or, we have someone who most likely bought the game solely for CS:S... and isn't really prepared to give the actual game HL2 a chance. Hence the giving up at the earliest opportunity.

Look... he says here:

If he truly is stuck so early into the game and he truly is trying, we would have to come to the logical conclusion that he is not that great at FPS...

I am going to bet it is far more likely you are going to be killed over and over again on CS:S/Planetside as someone new to the FPS genre than on the first 5 minutes of armed combat in HL2 - on any difficulty level.
