Does anyone know how to install skins for single player game?
I know I did once a long time ago but now I just can't figure it out again.

Just google it :D
I think you just extract them to the skins folder you can use fpsbanana.com they have all kinds of tutorials about this and skins

Well I did use the site fpsbanana. And the guide there don't work. I have the singleplayer offline mode and don't have all the folders I'm supposed to put downloaded content in. That's the problem.
I tried to create these folders myself but that don't seem to help.

So you have the Steam version?

now we just have to see if he responds. If he doesn't he probably didn't have the steam version... :|

No, Damien, you may not have all the folders in your directory because they are actually stored in the locked .GCF files. (Game Cache File, although you can use software to get in) You don't need to touch these files, you just need to create the folders yourself. For instance, a reskinned shotgun would go in these series of folders:

C:\Program Files\Valve\SteamApps\[account_name]\half-life 2\hl2\materials\models\weapons\v_shotgun\

And a reskined Alyx would be this directory:

hl2\materials\models\Alyx\

And so on in that similar fashion. Any files you place in the game's directory will automatically overwrite the files in the GCF, provided that they remain still and have the exact same file names as inside the GCF. To know the correct directory so as to be completely sure on something, you could open up a .GCF file in GCFScape, but you shouldn't need to as the authors uploading files to FBSBanana should already instruct you. If they don't, then I suppose they're not very good authors.
