This is an odd thread, but also interesting.

I don't know about tedium, but the footage I've seen so far implies that each level will be ginormous. Being a crazy halflife purist, the challenge of exploring every single aspect of the levels (like in the first games) seems daunting. But it also means replay value, which is great.

I guess prefer having a hundred ways to complete five tasks better than having five ways to complete a hundred.

Marc Laidlaw. He's there to plot out the game and make sure that it flows (and he did a great job in HL1). I think authoring the pace of a game is an art and really makes a game stand out and that is why I'm not as excited about 'non-linear' games right now. Valve also has a lot of betatesters on the game making sure that it is as smooth as possible.

Very nice points brought up here, there will be lots of ways to get things done, which increased replayability by ALOT. Vehicles will probably be a requiremnt for SOME parts, (like the bridge in the buggy demo) although, you can always find ways around em, (welding a bunch of metal beams together to fix the bridge to walk across, OMG SO COOL!)

I am not worried AT ALL about the actual game of HL2, just when it's going to be released etc.

Ahhh, all riled up, this is becoming a substitute, if you know what I mean. ;)

EDIT: Corupter, nice post there.

And yes, Marc Laidlaw wrote the HL2 story as well so that just rienforces my trust. :)

Wow... first time I've ever seen a thread with credits...

There's a good word for this... Daunting.

Obviously most people are going to ecstatic to have so many choices to make in this game (Choice being one of the things that engenders good gameplay), but a few people are probably going to get into the sort of situation where they just sit there, perfectly aware that if they choose one option, they'll block out so many more. Of course, that's where replaying the game comes in.

Main reason why they will focus on great gameplay (yes, I'm late, I know...) :

- They don't have a graphical revolution in their hands. Therefore they have to focus on gameplay superiority.

You know in russia if a important person was late with a meeting with more important people they'd be shot !

But besides that i know what you mean.

No fecking way in the Universe

It'll be a good game, averagely good at least. And won't be hard. You can check that by the fact they don't have reslistic ammo clips.

that is a weird assumption :(

you dont actually believe that do you?

it's like in Iraq ppl now think Americans **** their own mothers.... they dont...atleast not much

Sprafa said:
Why's that?

well, it's not because a game doesn't have a realistic type of clip managing that it's not going to be hard, I mean that's what youre basically saying

It shows that they put the fun factor in front of most other things. And you can't have fun dying all the time.

could you do me a favour and tell me how exactly im spamming ?

Plus if i was spamming as you say dont you think a mod would have closed the threads ?

Or are you being a tw*t for the fun of it ?

I'd suggest you ignore wes for now. He's just a pie who sometimes ducks into threads, often to make snide or depressing comments. You get used to him ;).
