Minor spoilers:

Strategy Guide:

Raising the Bar:
http://www.primagames.com/strategy/book/inside/6534/

Warning:

If you take a look at the "Raising the Bar" PDF, be CAREFUL in reading Marc Laidlaw's script pages as they outline in AWESOME detail the events after the Black Mesa incident and the subsequent Combine invasion of Earth.

I don't think it's too spoilerish because I think we all can figure it out on our own but it's damned cool read if you dare!

Wow thats good. Not read all of it but just looking at it is exciting

All hail to the laz! nice find btw

Edit:mods should put that info about scanners on the website, enemies section.

I tried to post this as "Laz" but the people couldnt see my post :(

the script is a sort of spoiler that didn't really fit into hl2 or hl1. so i guess it's safe to read it.

Cant read the script, although i may not want to. Rofl, i like the amount of detail about Elis leg.

"A bullsquid took his leg."

The strategy guide makes the map seem so small...

*Eli powers up the slide projector. A white image flashes on the wall of his room, where he has hung a white sheet.

Eli
Let's see now where does this start!

The following images appear as he speaks
*Aerial view of Black Mesa
*Inbound Train
*Test Chamber

Eli
Black Mesa. Let's not dwell on that. Nobody's blaming you. We all have to accept some responsibility. What matters is what we do next. I'll get to that. After the disaster, well let's just say, the ripples kept spreading.

The next few scenes have the feel of Norman Rockwell in Hell!
*Headcrabs leaping onto shoppers from supermarkets shelves
*Bullsquids chasing a family from a suburbs house; pack of houndeyes running from Elm Street
*------- overturning a tractor as a farmer fleas across a Nebraska Field
*Ichthyosaur maturialising in a public pool, right under a ------- kid who just jumped off the high-dive

Eli
The Countryside, the suburbs, all those hard-to-patrol places, got pretty much vulnhabitable. People started crowind into the cities for protection.

Ill keep adding to this

Oh yeah, nice find laz.

Definately can't wait to get that book on my hands :)

I think this kinda puts to rest the speculation over

Eli, or people from the resistance give you the manipulator, and mayb more weapons.

Just a correction in Laz's writing..
Not much of a spoiler...a really minor one...doesn't even deserve the tags..

A Gargantua is overturning the tractor. :)
And it's a nose-pinching kid who jumps into the pool.

[Possible spoilers] should be put on the thread title for the people that dnt want to see this , althouth it is harmless , some people might get annoyed by it.

There was an illusion of safety, for a time. And then the Citadels appeared. It happened in a split second, all over the world. A chunk would disapear from the center of a city, to be replaced an instant later by one of these headquarters for the Combine. Invasion Central.

*City center completely cored, buildings sheared off, an anourmous pit apearing out of nowhere, and people falling into it
*The game view, with a Citadel now towering at the center off all

Eli
Say hello to you new masters.

*Cremators, striders, Combine machines pouring out of the Citadel into the city, Combine dropships tearing through the air.

Eli
Oh, we resisted.

*Tanks, Soldiers, human army advancing on the Citadel
*The same troops reduced to ashes, completely obliterated

Eli
And then, one man who had suited about all the power a man can -----, used that power to arrange our surrender.

*The Consul, at the foot of the Radio Tower, wearing a headset, hands raised high in the dropships as he proclaims Earth's surrender

Eli
They call him the Consul now. It worked out fine for him. He speaks for the Combine, he shares in their power. As for the rest of us....

*Views of City 17, citizens sloushing along
*Air Exchange ------ black fumes
*Drained seabed with ---- ships, whale bones

Eli
Well, you've seen the state of things. They're replacing the air with something we can hardly breathe. They're draining the ocean. We don't know if they're preparing the planet for new residents, or just stripping it of every possible resource. All we do know is that to stop them. And that's where you come in. Mr. Freeman. It's up to you to....

*The projector goes dark.

They took that out?? That sounds pretty damn good to me.

You missed a bit: "Earth put up a fight that lasted all of seven hours."

DO NOT READ THIS THREAD! But these theories are gone now:
The combine need the masks because they don't breathe air. And the aliens have teleported to the earth and are taking us over. This plot sounds like Halo 2 to me!
Halo 2 lol

Takeing something word for word with out crediting the source is kinda wrong, dont you think...? Give credit where credit is due.

The HL2 plot is in that .pdf. The plot very much closely resembles Halo 2. The earth is over run with aliens. Same way with Halo 2...

Perhaps , but did it realy require your post ? its not a big deal at all.

HL2 World may have not been the place he got it from anyway lolz
