HL2 monsters that freak you out the most.

MM, and in Half-Life, going through the dark vents with headcrabs jumping out sporadically = terrifying.
Agreed, that was one of my favorite parts of the first game.

That's for your contribution.

The poison headcrabs and zombies without question. I didn't find the fast zombies too scary, at least no where near as frightening as the poison creatures.

Fast zombies, only because they jump out at you.

And Striders. Don't know why. Maybe because they make you feel so helpless when they stamp on your teammates.

Also this may be a spoiler but if you go over the rail in nova prospekt like in the e3 video, it brings you to a health terminal and while you are using it, a poison zombie is sneaking up on you. Scared the daylights out of me

That "Alyx" thing scares the living hell out of me. I mean, the way it just pops up at you with no warning? Jesus jumping Christ! Does it every time.

the Ichthyosaur 9no "it's not in the game except at 1 point" retard posts). That was one of the scariest parts for me. I was like HOLY SH*T ICHTHYOSAUR, NOT AGAIN!!!

Other than that normal zombie, every time they get set on fire I swear to God they're saying "Hear my...By allowing me..."

The fat, poison headcrab throwing zombie...

In highway 17 i decided to waste all my ammo on antlions and when i got to the one there i had to play crowbar/headcrab baseball !

Biozeminades. They freak me out! You can never know if you'll enounter one (Thank god I didn't).

I hated the poison head crabs and and the poison head crab zombies things.

I ran into two of them....I'll never get that sight out of my mind.

I mean, compare the traditional, tired moans of a D3 zombie with the genuinely disturbing muffled sobs of a headcrab victim, especially when one gets set on fire...

Yes, Yes, that is scary. The one in the cage that you set aflame, that one is the worst.

Wut are they?

My scariest moment had to be the last bit when the Zombies massed Gregory and the place went up in flames.. His Laugh will be dented in my mind

Headcrabs and all their relatives. It's not just that they jump at you out of nowhere, they are really genuinly disturbing. Just look at what they do to the poor people who become zombies. After the first game I thought headcrabs were cute. Ravenholm kinda changed my mind.

Yeah, but especially the fast headcrabs, because they turn into fast zombies.

The Fast zombies. antlions and the antlionguards are the ones that freaked me out the most.

But mostly it was the fast zombies.

(Ok I'm done)

One night, I just got into Ravenholm, went inside the shed, saw a zombie with it's torso cut off under it and the upper body sitting on the saw disk and the face just silently screaming.

I had to stop playing for the night.

Cubbage... I mean, an old guy with an RPG <shudders>

Seriously, it was after ravenholm and the fast zombies come once or twice that scared me.

Fast zombies.

But what was really missing were water monsters. God i hope aftermath has some water monsters.

Oh God I hope not. Can you imagine? Water Zombies? Or even worse...Fast Water Zombies..

Oh yeah... I just love the fast zombies. They creep me out, but in a sorta fun way. I don't like the antlions, though. So scary with their screaming. Seriously, I don't like the sound on with them around. I avoid the sand as much as possible.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the rollermines. Those things a gimmie the jibblies.
Not nightmare quality, but they're really surprising popping up out of nowhere in large groups.
Add that to near-invincibility, relentless pursuits, and their love of tossing you off cliffs and you've got a recipe for crazed shotgun fire.

Fast Zombies mostly, but poinunus are quite scary too. In a house on Highway 17; I had look through all the rooms (I thought), and was breaking crates. Then I turned around to check something out, and there is stood, 10 cm from be. I've never jumped so much before in my life.

Aftermath definitly needs some sort of water section and the beasties to inhabit it. The ichythosaur was teh scariest monster out of Half Life, and the bit at the beggining of HL2 didn't really make up for the lack of them in the rest of the game

poison headcrabs

little bastards hiding near my medkits :sniper:

Rollermines!

They frekkin scared the shit out of me when they fall through the roof on the highway level. Made me jump out the window and fall off the cliff onto the sand and get mauled by antlions :(

But, lets just say, Gravity Gun > Rollermines

Oh, also the manhacks. Some of the parts where you're in dark areas and they keep pouring down is a bit frightening. Especially when you hear that sound right by your ear. Shudder.

I totally HATED hearing the black zombies breathing when i couldn't figure out where they were. that shit was creepy as hell

Probally the Fast Zombies and the Posionous Zombies. I didnt like when the Fast zombies made that screaming noise. That freaked me out I almost ended up exiting the game! I dont like the poisionous zombies because they are to hard to kill and they have unlimited headcrabs which bring you hp down to 1 :(.
