HL2 Multiplayer

Anyone think that HL2 multiplayer will eventually die out by the mods created (like hl did) or do u think it will stand the test of time?

im actually not sure if valve is going to be able to pull this shit off. Everyone is addicted to cs 1.5 and hl mods, with steam out, it hasnt gotten any bigger, still around 300-400 servers and it hasnt been increasing, wtf is going on? If they cant get all the other cs players from 1.5 to come to steam to play 1.6 and CZ and eventually CS2, HL2, TF2 then uh oh!

Depends what HL2 multiplayer has to offer. If it is same as HL1 multiplayer, but with vehicles and 64 player-support, then I think it will die out with time. I mean if TF2 comes out, I am sold, can’t wait to start playing with my clan once again.

EDIT: Oh I believe there will be enough idiots who will stick with CS until their brain dies out, I mean CS is “ULTRA L33t”, isn’t it?

I think it will come with a pretty cool MP mode, but some mod will eventually overtake it. And it might not even be CS2, TF2, or DoD 2

I'm not sure about that. I remember there was some major resistance when CS beta 2 came out. People were furious and didn't want to upgrade (I foget why now .. probably the anti-glass camping features in cs_seige).

But after a couple of weeks they just gave up and closed down their servers. I hope the same happens when CS2 is released.

i just hope that tf2 doesnt let me down, i really want it and i dont want to be disappointed.

they are holding alot of shit back, so much stuff in HL2 we have no idea about, they could still release 3 or 4 more 1-2 min videos of new footage and we are still going to be suprised like crazy. Im really looking forward to this game, i just hope its released this september, but then it might be better if its later this year, like November or December because ill need to keep up the grades. What really is going to be amazing is if they include TF2 with HL2. We can only wait and see. But I hear they are working their asses off right now on TF2.

i doubt that tf2 will be shipped with hl2, and i think its even confirmed, but dont quote me on that.

god i hope cs1.5 dies, really is time for something new... even if its exactly the same on a new engine..

Yah, no TF2 with HL2... maybe a cupon lol! i'm looking forward to CS2, although i don't understand why they are still doing CS:CZ cuz theoreticaly speaking... CS2 should blow it out of the water... even if its just CZ in Scource...

you cant compare cs2 and cz honestly... becuase CZ will be a singleplayer game (for the most part) while cs2 will obviously be mp

By the way, did you see the last trailer from CZ? Guy was saying that CZ will be a tactical game, where you help out your teammates. While he was saying it, footage showed player running around and giving headshots with one bullet from DE to every enemy there is.

They confirmed that in an e-mail, yes.

With CS, TF2 and mods bringing a lot of multiplayerstuff, I think HL2 will be a little different and focus on something unique, probably in addition to traditional, yet tweaked modes such as deathmatch and perhaps team deathmatch. With more than 32 players and very good vehicles, multiplayer will be great with any modes...

People will play the hell out of MP. Some will be hooked, some won't, those that aren't hooked go on to play/make mods. Its the same with any game that is modded.

I don't see what the problem is. As long as we have fun, right?
