How serious is this going to be? Is it going to carry on being just a group of people who like playing together or is it likely to be a properly organised clan with matches and leagues etc?

Also, if the latter is true is it likely to require it's own forum?

I sure hope it's serious! I love playing with you peeps, and once my exams are over I'll be playing BF2 LOADS.

And it's own forum would be good :)

My hope is that the latter happens.

It's extremely likely to happen if we can prove to Z we're "Serious" :) There's no point in having a forum that barely gets any posts, which is what happens to most game sub forums after a while, so basically in order to "require" a HL2.net clan forum in this site, we're going to need to arrange clanmatches, and regularly take on other teams. That would garantee the forum is put to a good use, and for a long time... it also encourages players to stick with us.

Agreed :E

How do we prove that we are serious?

I just said how we prove it!

Read the post again :E lol

By the way... who's out "leader"? lol? Is it Ritz? or Sidewinder? Sidewinder makes a great commander...

If the general consensus comes in that it's a serious organised clan I'll make a private sub-forum of this one for members.

As for leader, I propose a nomination and voting system if it's decided to make it official.

Well I'd be all for it, I didn't think so at the start but after playing with Redundant and the like - organised teamplay is fantastic.

As for leader, no idea - Raziaar and Redundant are great squad leaders, and Sidewinder is a top notch commander

I think clan matches are much more intense and more fun than normal (Well CZ ones were) so I'd be game for a fully organised clan.

Course timing of matches could well be a problem what with us Euro's and you Yanks and Canadians (anyone not in those catch all cats, sorry)

I agree, lets make Euro and US divisions!

somebody make a list of all players in Euro and US, i am too lazy :)

I plan on getting the game, and I plan to stick with hl2.net clanners, people like Raz, Mr Re, Enni, Em, Amish etc etc are alot of fun to play with.

Yeah, I'd definatly want to play, if we play with proper leaders and tactics etc.

But I think we should have some kind of training session, so we can decide who is best at the paticular roles.

Sorry I can't read.

Also if we have a serious clan we should still do what we are all doing now

Yeah, absolutely. I'm certainly not suggesting that anyone who doesn't want to participate in matches etc cannot be a part of the clan, I just want to know how many people would be interested in doing the serious side of clanning so I know whether or not it's worth my while creating a forum etc :)

Honestly, I just wanted to keep this casual before the demo released, but this is such a team-oriented game that it'd be a huge waste to not go serious - or at least partly-serious, playing a few matches and such every so often.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Im thinking casual in the demo, but when the full game comes out, sort it out to be a serious one, since all the people playing now might not be buying the full game.

How do I go about joining? I've never been in a serious clan before. Will I have to prove my worth?

A HL2.net clan would be sweet.
But I'd preffer if the members keep it serious and people are active enough.
I'm not asking them to attend everyday, but at least once every week.

By the way, what game are we talking here? Is it just Battlefield 2 or other games as well?

my suggestion is that we all form squads, not necessarily a big clan, because its hard to get to know people in a group of dozens and dozens of people. Lets just divvy up into squads.

Serious = 8 v 8 matches where people shit their pants if they lose.

No thanks.

if some peeps want it to be serious or have a more serious element then fair enough , i like the deal atm, people meeting up casually on a server and getting squads together, a hl2 server is more what i'd like atm.

It depends just HOW serious the clan would get. Come fall I won't have much time at all to play in clan matches or practices. This summer I've got lots of time though.

serious, I don't like playing with anyone besides my HL2.net bruthas (and sistah)
I don't know how serious though, Im down for playing it by ear.

I want it to be serious, but I have to be in the clan first. :p Also, if it is serious, you have to cut down on members.

I'm liking his idea.

It's a better idea to form up into squads from the start, and work from there. We can practice our own classes better and work out a primary strategy. Although, what it comes down to is map-to-map strategies, something we can't really work on atm.

So here's how I imagined it would be...
32 Players a Team {Dunno how many clan members we have, I'm sure we can get at least 32}

6 Squads
-------------
4 Squads of 6 {Medic/Medic/Engy/Support/Anti-Tank/Assault}
2 Squads of 4 {SpecOps/SpecOps/Medic/Anti-Tank}

The 4 member squads would be priority objectives, artillery / uav / airfield seiges, while the other 6 member squads would be attack/defend squads.

Something I really hated was that people kept bickering about new orders right after they capped a town. I told em to defend because I saw a couple enemies coming in from the east, so they hapily chose their own orders and went to the middle cap, leaving the eastern cp unprotected.

Then again, the squad thing really comes down to map specific strategies.

Don't even f_cking dare do that, I swear to go I'll shoot up the place if you f_cking cut any of us.

I've been in a clan (For Enemy Territory, to be precise), and although it's nice to get some good teamwork and get to meet new people, the pressure caused by games or practice on school-nights is just too much. For me, BF2 is a game where you don't need to parcipate in league competition to get a good team experience.

EDIT: If you think clan battles are going to be massive 32 vs. 32 battles, you're seriously dissilusioned. Clan matches are going to bee 8 vs 8 win in under 5 minutes if possible matches. In ET, which is usually played with tons of players and where games last 20-40 minute, clan matches are fought 6 vs 6 and won in 2-5 minutes.

Hehe, I tend to agree. Theres absolutely no need to cut down on members. By all means you can suggest taking the best players to clan matches... but theres no need to get rid of people.

Also, if we keep members we will be one of the few clans that will be able to take part in 64 player matches :p

Looks like I edited my post too late, but I SERIOULSY doubt there will be a 32-player-team league.

Hehe, I wasnt being totally serious about that. :)

But I wouldn't be supprised if there were a few larger matches (Maybe up to 18 v 18 - ie 3 squads per team) occasionally. Otherwise whats the point in a commander... lol

I was under the impression commander was just a way of reorganizing pub play.

Meh maybe so, but I see no real reason not to include it in some leagues. Would make a nice change to normal clan play. Every clan I have quit its been because it got far too repetitive..

I asked a question. *has a tantrum*

Oh shit, yeah. Forgot about that. Sorry.

I don't think it should be serious. I personally already have a serious clan, WWX, but I play in Hl2.net squads because its fun. I'd say have the HL2.net general tag or squad name, but that's just saying you're from the site - have a real clan thats not made up of all the other people. Internal clan for real competition and scrims.

i mean, redundant and i are forming a squad to practice and play with, but we're not for the hl2net clan itself, just as an independent squad last i checked.

that squad idea was back before tons of people started joining, at this time I think it would be best to wait and see who buys and plays the full game on a daily basis to see what squads form.

however I know I have more than six people I love to play with on a regular basis, and it's not fair leaving the other people out.
