After standing in line for about eight hours at my local Walmart, I have my Wii. I bought only Twilight Princess.

I only have about four hours total gaming time on it so my review won't be entirely conclusive.

The setup was relatively simple and straightforward. Set the bar on your TV, plug in the cords to the TV, connect the 360-like powerbrick to the wall were as complicated as it gets. After that, it needs to update which, unfortunately, takes like a half an hour in total.

Wii Sports showed exactly what the Wiimote can do. Out of the 5 minigames, Golf has to be my favorite. It's funny, because in real life I usually hit it to the right. This is directly interpreted into the game. I was astonished. The Wiimote senses movement like a champ. It realistically senses movement and speed in real time: no lag. Of course there was some glitches every once in awhile, but this is expected. Tennis was my second favorite. The simple flick of the wrist can do fine, but you can really get into it. Your hand placement and swing time is represented in game perfectly.

As for Zelda, I haven't really played much of it to give a real overview of it. Really, the only thing I've done so far is fishing which, honestly, is pretty fun. You cast the line with the Wiimote and your view goes to the bobber. Once it dips, you jerk up and move the nunchuck in a circular motion as if you were reeling it in. I am very confident that this game will blow me away.

The buttons on the Wiimote are very comfortable to use with the motion itself. I'm so glad to not have to hold on to a controller and inside just rest my left hand on the armrest while my right hand is active yet still using my left hand for movement. It's a very, very comfortable, laid-back way of doing things, and it feels great.

I'll update this when I get home (friend's house, atm).

December 7th until I get it, December 25th til I play it :(

Buy ps3..

Oh I would if...

a) It didn't cost a shit load.
b) It wasn't sold out.
c) It actually was available here in Australia... but nay, 4 beautiful months until that comes to fruitition.
d) If Resistance: Fall of Man wasn't the only worthwhile game that it has going for it at launch.

I'm more curious about how that slot loader takes in Gamecube games without messing up.

I just got an email saying my pre-order won't arrive on Dec 8th because they're sold out.

I'll have to camp out if I want it before Christmas probably, or go to Comet or some place that nobody equates with gaming and hope they have some left.

Damn America.

I waited for 3 days in line for the Wii, and all I got was:

I went to Walmart this morning and this is what I saw: Boxes full of Wii games, including Zelda, Tony Hawk and Monkeyball, and a bunch of Nunchucks.

No Wiis available and no Wiis on display.

They had a Wii on display at Target but it wasn't functional.

Getting mine in just over 3 hours with just Zelda for now. Not getting my Gamefly subscription for a month or so.

What the **** Nintendo? They are making you pay extra if you want to use the web browser
Internet Channel: This channel dramatically changes the relationship between a user’s home, the television and the Internet. Users download the Opera browser with Wii Points. Then they can surf the Internet right from the comfort of their couch. They can do quick research while watching a television program ("What was that actor’s name again?"). Or book travel plans and shop during commercials. The service is compatible with Macromedia Flash.

Wii Shop Channel: This is where users go to buy Wii Points
Source: Amazon

Thats bullshit.

So jealous :/

I'm now going to pretend that i'm not interested in the Wii at all (untill mine arrives on the 8th of Dec, then it becomes the best thing ever)

I'm not sure if I want it. Given that red-steel got a 5.5...

Do I want to play cartoon golf? Some silly truck game, or play as some magical fairy called zelda? Not really.

But you have no problem still playing army? ;)

GI Joe!

After looking at Gateway3 vids/pics for the PS3, I would say the PS3 is a powerful device.

I think £450 for the 60GB version is not bad after all.

I'll consider a PS3 a bit more if Monster Hunter 3 turns out to be as good as it deserves to be. It'll just take a few good games to make all the difference.

*sits down and waits*

So, whats the availability look like? Stores selling out or do they have enough to go around for today? If the latter, I might head out to see if I can snag one myself.

Zelda's the name of the princess you have to save, not the character you play:

You should seriously play a Zelda game.

I just got an email saying this:
"We regret to inform you that due to severe stock shortages of the Nintendo Wii, we will be unable to fulfil your hardware order from our first shipment, in time for December 8th.

You have our promise that as Europe's leading videogame specialist we will be working very closely with Nintendo to secure you a unit before Christmas. Please rest assured that we will despatch Wii to our customers on a strictly first-come, first-served basis, dependant on when orders were placed."

I'm going to try and buy one from a rarer store instead of Game.

Ye, its definatly powerful. But the release titles suck. In a way I don't mind that the EU release is not until March 2007 because honestly I don't think any good games are going to come out until then. If any good games do come out they will most likely be 3rd party and I can get them on my Wii or 360.

Oh my god, can we not have a thread about anything without defaulting to the typical "vs." argument or "overrated" argument?

This place is starting to f*cking annoy me. Every thread is turning into the same damn thing.

My brother is out buying the Wii as wii speak. I'm getting the PS3, he's getting the wii.

I'm starting to have negative thoughts about the Wii, I pre-orderd it with CoD3 and Zelda but there is loads of poor comments and reviews about it.

I gurantee that some real awesome games will be developed to take full advantage of the motion sensors though, it just takes time.

The only poor comments I've heard center around graphics power and control issues for Red Steel.

EDIT: What have you been hearing?

the local Zellers was preorder only and the local Walmart sold out at 9 AM :(

Meh. Franchise is overrated. And OOT's glory has long faded.
Considering it was released 2 days after HL1, that's not exactly surprising. Was HL1 overrated then?

I think a lot of people that don't buy the Wii will always be wondering what the controller's like, and they'll eventually succumb to buying it anyway.

When Nintendo release the Wi-fi tools to devs then we'll see some way better games. Only Nintendo games will be online in the beginning.

im gonna play it today, my friends brother just bought it........how cool am i?

Acceptable answers are:

Cool as school
Wicked Cool
Pretty damn cool
Absolute Sh1thead
