First of all I jsut want to say Morrowind is not a solid game, it's got bugs flying out it's ass.

The reason I say it's so good is that despite all those bugs, it's still one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played, and I disagree with the RPG comment. Sure they took about 'hill climbing' skills and stuff like that, but really, they only took out the skills you wouldn't use in Morrowind. They are different games, those skills worked in Daggerfall and Arena, but Morrowind is better off without them.

As long as we agree Oblivion is the shit/poop of the TES series, all is well.

Not enough VTM in there.

Bastards. It's like you hate good voice acting and writing.

I was going to write it, but I didn't really think it'd be 'best'. I mean it's good, but there are more then 100 games better.

For me? The voice acting alone puts it on my top 10.

That's how unbalanced I am.

I like how anything I have in common with others is usually HL2. And haven't even played most of the others.

I basically don't play anything other than Valve titles.

Fan boy, etc.

See, I ****ing knew I would forget better games. I'm going to change my list. I dont give a **** if it voids my votes.

I'll tell you what.

If we set up that sort of like "Just list whatever amount of games you can remember and are awesome" contest up, I'll try and set something up where we make some kind of feature article-ish kind of thing for all the games and whatnot.

I don't know, I feel like a challenge.

Not this poll though, I'm too lazy/middle of examsface.

I want to talk to Riomhaire, Darkseid, and Veggie about this btw.

I notice very few CRPGs getting votes outside of KOTOR. Console symptom?

I just expected in a forum which was formed for the intent of discussing Half-Life 2 that it would appear in the top 10 lists of the active members. I'm by no means saying that Valve are beyond criticism, really don't know why you're bringing that up. Half-Life 2 would be pretty far down my list, I'm not fanatical and I don't expect others here to be. But 10 games is plenty, and I find it a struggle to think of 9 games that are better, and in a community that should at least in theory comprise of Half-Life 2 fans, it's difficult to imagine others could either.

Games are better for different reasons. Personally as far as games go I've probably sunk more hours into CS:S than any other game I've played bar the odd MMO dalliance, however I don't consider those so much great games as great multi-player experiences and in my view a great game should stand up on it's own. That I'm a good CS:S player is very much down to me, it has very little to do with the mechanics of the game or it's level design.

I'm a broad gamer with broad tastes, so when composing my list I looked across the range of games I play and picked out the best imho across a range of genres. Oranges are not the only fruit.

I really have no idea why you thought of me when you hatched up this idea... There are much better people at doing visual art in that form around here. Unless you want it to look silly.

Cant wait for the top 100 to be formulated, when will this occur?

I think we'll be needing a bunch more votes. I don't think there have even been 100 different games listed yet.

I preferred Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Planning to check this out just as soon as the current wave of new titles has ended. Looks quite awesome in retrospect, and I'm puzzled as to why it completely passed me by. I seem to remember a lot of people condemning it on release... maybe just bugs or something?

Edit - Oh right, vote criticism and all that.

Ahem... not enough votes for WoW! What are you people, addiction-proof?

For the record, I was voting for the glory days. YES IT HAD SOME.

Also noticed very few other votes for CS on there, and many of them were for CS:S. What's up with that? Yeah, it's shinier and stuff, but THE MEEEMORIEEEES.

Okay, most of them bad, but still. A new coat of paint does not a better game make.

I preferred Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Emperor was an evil bastardisation of the Dune universe (arguably all the RTS games are but ignore that). Good game just the same but Dune 2 is superior being the original Dune RTS. Anyway we all know 2000 > Emperor.

Tbh it's mainly cos you're one of the few people I talk to constantly on here (only like 5 people have my msn) and I respect your opinionface.

1. Fallout

No surprises there! xD

This is hard, Top 20 and Top 7 were easy, filling the last 3 is hard. Basically I looked through my Games folder, Steam and my CD wallets and picked out the games that stood out from my own personal gaming history.

Not enough VTM in there.

Vampire made my top 20 but it won't make my top 10. While I enjoyed it, in the end I feel that it had more style than substance. So while the game looked, felt and sounded real good the gameplay was lackluster, or maybe just the level design. Either way it's a game I wish they were able to finish before it was forced out the door.

My List

Found my list from the last HL2.net countdown Here, and I seem pretty fickle in that 5 of those ten are no longer on my list (though all were considered for inclusion).

Considering that four of those games are represented by other titles in the series (FF, HL, Mario, Shock) I feel kind of compelled to explain why Homeworld got dropped from the list: Like all the others, I've actually gone back and played it for one. The Single Player is a great story and all, but the AI is shocking and it's very easy to beat the game. Also, with Multiplayer dead on the rocks, it's time to retire this classic game from the list I'm afraid. On the bright side, I only came to this realisation because Company of Heroes is so good in many respects, so why isn't that on the list? Because I've only played enough to know how good it is, not how much I like it :P

Riomhaire, I assume that Sonic 3 will be merged into Sonic 3 & Knuckles in polling right? Fair enough, but the S&K half was always the worst bit :P

I had trouble not adding Super Mario 1, 3, SMW 1 & 2, Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Kart. Mario 64 had to be there, though. Goddamn I love that fat plumber.

Oh god yes it was buggy. It still is a bit, but when you get the fan-made unofficial patches its usually perfectly fine. The game was rushed out by the publishers and the developer because they wanted to release it while the hype for the Source engine was still high. Plus the developer was about to go bankrupt and fail (which it did like a month after release, which is why there are no official patches to fix everything.

VTM would of been my RPG vote, but The Witcher usurped it. Certainly top 20 game though.

Hah, fair enough. Can you apply the fan patches if you get it off Steam? Pretty cheap on there and I don't fancy my chances of finding a retail box around here.

Goddamnit, stop voting for "<game> + expansions" or "<game> + episodes" you cheapskates. One game per choice. If the expansions are that good, give them their own spot.

*pulls collar*

Hang your head in shame, good sir. Hang iiiiiiiiit.

Really though, I don't think that sort of thing is making Rim's job any easier is all. If you have people voting for "Half-Life 2" and "Episode 1/2" in two seperate points, and then other people voting for "Half-Life 2 + Episodes" in a single one, it becomes a little difficult to tally (unless he's just ignoring the + episodes bit, which I suspect he is).

I agree fully with Bad^Hat. For example, if someone was to say "GTA series" that's like, 7 or 8 games there. Then the next, more sensible person will say "GTA III", which works for polling because it's a single title.

Deciding which game out of a series is your favourite might not be easy, but it's not like you have to justify your choices to anyone. Except when you pick a series.

Yeah.

Really wanted to slide Duke Nukem 3D in there somewhere. So many fond memories. I always got such a thrill going in the strip bar at the young age I was.

I'm gonna make mine.

1. Fallout 3
2. Fallout 3
3. Fallout 3
4. Fallout 3
5. Fallout 3
6. Fallout 3
7. Fallout 3
8. Fallout 3
9. Fallout 3
10. Oblivion

Just to watch Grizzly have a rage induced aneurysm.

Pretty much this, with a few exceptions. Valve Titles will always be at the top though.

I am still disappointed at the lack of HL2 on your guy's list.

It's not that great. I like the story and all, but I really don't enjoy playing it again. Great but not that great. Ep2 is fantastic though.

I honestly can't remember of HL1 or Hl2 was better, but I put down HL2 because I remember it more clearly. xD

Personally, I don't have enough time, money or computing power to play anything else. That said, reading other people's lists has made me remember the good times I've had with some other, non-Valve titles.

*pout*
If no one else is going to vote I guess I'll just have to count them up early.
