Pretty much this, with a few exceptions. Valve Titles will always be at the top though.




I am still disappointed at the lack of HL2 on your guy's list.

Valve are pretty much restricted to shooters so far - there are far more genres out there with awesome games.

But they licensed it. Which is probably just as much, if not more effort than popcap went to to develop it.

Oh, right, Extreme, the one with the HL2 theme? I would have thought that was a mutually beneficial agreement - Valve gets to give stuff away and advertise the OB, PopCap gets to get people addicted to Peggle.

Valve only gave PopCap some sound files and art work for the new Orange Box games (Ep2, Portal, TF2). The rest was developed by PopCap and with the exception of their addition of portals the only real work they had to do was level design. I'm not bagging Peggle Extreme BTW, I think it is a good idea and I hope to see more such promotions in the future but I don't pretend it required a huge amount of work by either party.

I think people find it addictive for the same reasons gambling can be addictive in that while it may feel like you are in control a lot of the game comes down to luck.
