HL2 Retail/Steam Packages Confirmed!

6 cds... quite shocking, but im not bothered since im getting it through steam.

fingers crossed ati coupon holders get the silver package, although im not going to hold my breath on it.
 
Good news ! :D Ill get CE or Gold.. but one qes. if you buy it from Steam do you get a package delivered to your home/postoffice with the games and t-shirts or whatever ? Coz the GOLD Edition is kickass but I want a DVD folder for my game ! :flame:
 
goly can someone tell how much the gold edition will be.
My dad is the only one in my family with a credit card.the problem is im in Germany and hes in the US .but if he would give me hes cc Number and ill enter it over here that shouldnt be a problem.am I right??

Be very careful using a debit card online as they don't have the same protection as a real credit card. If your credit card number is stolen then the credit card company most likely won't hold you accountable for any charges. If your debit card number is stolen, any charges will come straight out of your bank account and you'll be sh*t out of luck.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but what's Half-Life: Source? The old game with the new engine? Will it look better or run differently? Or is it just for people who might not have ever played the first HL and want to catch up?
 
HL:Source is the First game in the NEW source engine - same script basically but im pretty sure there willbe small differences...

All that matters if the ending is the same......

Where can i buy a collector ed online? i have found one usa website but i live in UK and want to order it from here.

Already got standard version pre ordered and my mate will buy this one off me if i can get the collectors pre ordered

Hey, maybe the reason they haven't announced the prices for the steam versions yet is cause they're cheaper! I mean think about it! They don't have to pay VU, maybe they're not gonna pocket that extra money that would have gone to VU after all! Maybe They'll get soo much more cause it'll be cheaper through steam! Well even if it's not, I'm still gonna buy through steam.
 
FULL steam package for me, then ill buy the collectors ed some other time. looks like all the posters, stickers, hats, shirts etc etc etc are a sort of compensation for our waiting. smart move i think. i can finally say 'nice one valve'.

lol, or you could just remove the money from the bank account, and he wouldn't be able to do shit.

Also if the transmission is using SSL any losses with it, will be covered.

However if the physical card gets stolen then you will have to pay for the first 200$ yourself.

For the gold package it mentions the complete startegy guide. So we would get the guide to beat half-life 2 before the game? So tempting to read through.
 
Think i´ll buy the silver, dont really need nor want dod but hl1 source, hell ya....stickers, posters, catalogs and caps... wait 4 it......wait.....AHAHAHAHAHAHA ...uhm no thx. :x

Ahem? Excuse me? Britain is like that. Yes. The whole UK. I have not found a single online retailer who has the CE up for online buying. Coupled with the fact that the nearest "Game" Shop is like 1 hour away, it's a tad annoying.

So it's not bullSh*t, he could be telling the truth, so before you go accusing people, think logically. Use your brain, not your arse.

I'm on the fence whether the CE is good enough for me. I haven't preloaded HL2 yet, and suddenly Gold seems like a nicer option (Yes, they should mail us a CE box too, so we can say we bought the CE)... I have no idea. Also, can someone tell me if, when you DL something off steam, you can put it on a CD for backup? the answer to that could sway me.

DVD drives are so cheap. You can find them for under $20.

Legally you are not supposed to put gcf files on cd-rom or dvd for backup purposes or to share them with friends. The mods over at steam had such a fun time with that very question because basically its against the eula to copy the gcf files for backup purposes.

the cfg files are also available on the bittorrent network (but I don't recommend download them because of worms and virusses) so that means you can get the cfg from somewhere else than Steam and place it in the Steam folder.
 
i find it funny that people are throwing a fit about DoD not being released retail. did they all forget, DoD is under contract with activision? If that were released under VUG, well, there would be more legal troubles for valve. Makes sense they only release DoD:S over steam.
