i think im gonna have to get that collectors edition just due to the fact that its on dvd, and that i wont have to put up with 6 damn cd's.

Wow. The Gold Steam package and CE are quite impressive.

Everything going fine i'm very happy thanx munro it's getting closer and closer...

well looks like I'll get bronze. What is Valve's back catalog refering to?

EDIT:sweet, CS:S next week!!!
 They really want us to purchase it over steam, look at the extra goodies, I think Vivendi is going doooown ;( :cheese:

I think i'll wait and get the game on CD once it's gone down a bit....in 4 years.

So people who get the bronze edition won't get DOD?

Are they trying to give us every bit of info except the one that really counts....THE RELEASE DATE!!!

So i suppose that the ati coupon holders only get the bronze package ?
That would be the logical conclusion, considering that the Standard Retail Version includes HL2 and CS:S without DoD:S.

IM very upset i just guess i wont get DOD:Source because i want to get the cd not online files all annyoing.

so can we buy the packages next week? and get CS:S right now, and Hl2 when its out?

Probably they do that because DOD: Source is not yet completed. Still, would be nice if the Collector's Edition contains a voucher for DOD: Source.

SIX CDs!?!? Argghh.. forgiveable, since it's got CS:S with it too.. but bah, I hate the idea of that many CDs.. lol

Bronze — HL2* and CS:Source.

Silver — HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam.

Gold — HL2*, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 1: Source*, Day of Defeat: Source*, Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam, Complete Strategy Guide from Prima Games, 3 different Half-Life 2 posters, Half-Life 2 hat, Half-Life 2 postcard, Half-Life 2 stickers, Half-Life 2 Soundtrack CD, Chance to win a trip to Valve! Which one of these packages applies to ATI voucher holders ?

what about ATI

What version do ATI voucher holders get from steam?!?!?!

hah beat me

Seems like the Steam packs are better... Perhaps revenge on VU?

I'm tempted to get the Gold pack off steam, but I think I'll still be getting the CE.

IM getting CE version i bet in a few months DOD:Source will come on retail box also or at least sold buy its self online.

I'm also wondering about the ATI vouchers. No doubt they will give us either Bronze or Silver. Silver would make sense, since we already have the "back catalogue" part of the deal. Plus they made us wait for a year after getting the vouchers, so I think they owe it to us to be a bt generous. I'll be annoyed if I have to pay for DOD: Source.

I think Valve's done a good job of enticing buyers to get it from Steam rather than from the store.

The Steam vs. boxed version isn't as clear-cut as I thought it would be - which is good. With the Gold Steam package, they've really one-upped the Collector's Edition.

heh, that really, really REALLY makes me want toget the steam gold pack, especiallly for dod:s!!!! hellz yea!!!!

haha i like how the steam packs are better than the retail, looks like valve is trying to push steam so that they get oh 100% of t3h m0n3y!!! greedy bastards!

(1 trip offered for every 5000 Gold packages purchased).
*stares at receipt for CE (fully paid for)*

Oh. My. God. It pales in comparison. Doesn't it? Am I just confused? Arrggghh.

I never though i would say this, but it looks like im buying hl2 off steam. The gold (steam version) whips the collectors edition.'

So is valve also going to send us stuff in the mail with the steam version?

awsome news!! this is so exciting, all these reviews and what not.

i have the ati coupon and im really really really hoping that we get the silver. its seems to make sense since we already have back catalogue. would we really have to remove all local content once hl2 comes out...seems kinda wierd. plus we were like the first people to 'own' hl2, so silver is only fair.

but heres the thing. im thinking that ati holders will be able to upgrade for a fee. and i'd just like to say this. nomatter what valve gives me, im upgrading to gold. im too excited about this game.

Well I'm positive 100% that we ATI voucher holders will not be getting the Gold package.
I think we'll be getting Silver, atleast I hope we do, if we dont Gabe fxcked up.

Yeah, that's just ****ing great. The worthless retards (that's me!) who don't have a credit card and can't get Collector's Edition get to **** around with SIX ****ING CDs! What the ****? What the **** makes CE purchasers so ****ing special that they can get everything on a single DVD? ****'s sake.

I'm starting to think that Valve just doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone anymore.

I'm glad you woke up, good morning, nothing you said is new :|
Thankfully I have the ATI voucher, so I'm all set.

If this is real, which i'm kind of doubting.. then it looks like Valve really shafted people that pre-ordered the CE months ago... not cool.

woohoo! If the retail packages have been announced(which requires VUG input), we must be close to Gold, atleast if you are an optimist.

I fail to see how its valves fault about people not having credit cards, and how they shaft the people who ordered the collectors edition. Those who did, didnt have any idea what they where ordering and thats their own fault. I have the ati voucher and will get a collectors edition too. I dont have a credit card, and i dont see why you would need a credit card to get the collectors edition??? Gold edition online for sure, but the Collectors Edition will be for in-stores.

It costs more to produce multiple versions of the game and CDs are cheaper. Also, the thing that makes CE puchasers so "****ing special" is that they pay more.

Why can't you get the CE? Is it cost or availability? If it's the former... too bad. If it's the latter, order it from an Internet retailer and have it mailed to you. If you don't have a credit card to order it online, ask your parents if they'll use their card if you give them the money. If they won't... just take the 6 ****ing CDs and deal with it you whiney little bastard! It's HL2... who cares how you have to install it? :E

And im not much of an optimist, but i do beleive we must be. This can only be good news. And if valve is starting to sell it over Steam now, obviously they beleive that they are entitled to or else if they lost this lawsuit, would have to refund people their money. Im guessing theirs been some agreement, or its just an open and shut case in Valves favour. We will be playing this by the end of November. With any luck by the end of october even... but thats probably a long shot.

Well I figured Valve wouldn't be offering an even BETTER version of HL2. I assumed a CE would be the best version of the game released. Guess I shouldn't pre-order anything until gold announcements from now on.

EDIT: On review your post wasn't entirely directed towards me.. also i'm refering to the Gold edition on steam when I say a better version than CE.

maybe someone´s already asked this, and i dont have time to read all pages, gotta be in school in 14 min, so..

you will be able to buy dod: source stand-alone, right? or is the only way to get it to buy hl2 silver/gold? :S really wanna try it out :/

I'd pay more, but guess what: I can't, because Valve insists on ****ing around with Steam.

There are no Internet retailers here that sell it.

Newsflash, retard: credit cards aren't owned by every person on the planet.

bah can't we just get hl2,cs:s,and DOD:S on one dvd or hell just give us hl2 period!
